Razor was able to put my thoughts into words. I’ve kinda stopped playing MK1 cause it just feels like a game made by people who don’t like what the franchise was about or the characters in it. Been a Tekken fan since 2009. I love Tekken 8, you can tell that game was made by passionate people. Street Fighter characters still act faithful to their identities. MK1 is trying to get me to play as a version of Rain that’s a basic ass water mage, and a version of Scorpion that isn’t even Hanzo. The novelty of “change” got old after the first month, after that first month you start to miss the green shadows on Johnny Cage, and start to realise Shang can’t steal souls 🤷🏾.
MK1 is by no means a fantastic product but your and razor's complaints are all over the place. Does Shang not stealing souls really bother you that much when he can morph into other characters in gameplay still anyway? Tekken does what most Japanese games do and that is sticking to its roots I'll give you that. But idk what ya'll mean by saying they're made by "true fans" whatever that means. Tekken 8 got and still gets a lot of legit complaints from both competitive and casual fans, not to mention unbalanced dragonuv run meta.
@@ShaoKahnnor Forgive me for the late reply, I just saw this comment now. About Shang not being able to steal souls, yes it bothers me that much 😂. It sounds petty but it’s just such a central move to the character that it blows my mind that it’s just not there. And it’s not necessarily about him being able to turn into his opponent anyway, I’ve personally always appreciated the aesthetic of the move whether it was a throw, brutality, special move, fatality. I’ll call myself out tho cause I was wrong about something. I remembered this version of Shang CAN steal souls and he does it in the story, which makes me more frustrated it’s not in his moveset lol. I’ll agree with you that me saying that Tekken was made by passionate people may have been a little bit off base especially considering the problems with Tekken 8. My overall point was MK1 is a game which its narrative feels like it was made by people (Dom) who don’t like the original story or misunderstand the characters personalities. And my point was made stronger after playing Khaos Reigns. I never said they weren’t true fans tho? It’s not up to me to define who’s a “real” fan or not cause it’s gatekeepy and childish. Plus, I’m sure Ed is still a true fan of the franchise, I also believe he doesn’t care for the story that much. My passionate fans comment was only concerning the story and character identities not the gameplay.

Trust on these Netherkast videos is where I mainly criticise the story lol. It’s a fun game. I’m having a blast with Shang, even if he doesn’t have the soul steal lol.
Not unlockable but kinda hidden in MKX was the Cyber Sub-Zero variant for Triborg. All one had to do was make it so you do the variation-less input or whatever. Does this count? I don’t remember people knowing about it at first. Some were even surprised that you could go variation-less. In any case, I do believe that’s the closest we got to a secret unlockable character in the NRS era

It would be really cool if u guys did the extra challenges of the PS Vita port. Not many people have seen them (cause it was the PS Vita...). I don't know if you commented on that, I haven't seen the entire video yet.
The “reward” you get was so disappointing. I loved the challenge tower. It was very fun, challenging, funny, and charming. But that Mileena skin was a terrible prize. What did I expect? Call me crazy, but I was expecting Goro. I can’t remember if I was thinking Kintaro and Shao Kahn but I was 100% expecting a full version of Goro. Was this delusional? I just saw that he was usable in one of the challenges and thought Goro would be selectable.
