Hey Paradise, I did some testing with Dancer L on an Ivory Lagiacrus, and I can tell you that the instant my IL's HP was not topped off I was getting about 30 damage less on my plasma blaster. This leads me to believe with Dancer you need a move that goes first more often than not, or you gotta hope that speed bonus pulls through. Either way, it looks like the damage (and possibly defense) bonus isn't active unless you're max HP.
OK, I made my own personal build for Hellblade thinking it was good. But now I’m gonna do it all over and use this build. I NEVER would’ve thought to use Firecracker cause I often just switch Monsties based on their attack types (Zinogre for Speed attacks, Mizutsune for Tech, etc.). But this build kinda opened my eyes a bit, and I love you for it! Lol Harmony
Salt in the Wound loses effectiveness the higher level your monster is. I dunno for PvP but for PvE on a monster it becomes less needed. The skill on the rider like Soul Kinship is really good regardless of level however simply because the riders stats will never reach the state the monsters end up in. Harmony.
High damage skills have a 110 value, medium damage skills have 60 value. Salt in wound apply 50 more to the value. So is almost a half of a High damage skill value. But yes 50 extra raw is barely noticiable if you are playing over lvl 90.... but is worth for pvp at 50. Still i go with harmony in the build cause i dont do many 2v2 and only 1 attack that inflics fire dont make worth waste my salts genes :P
I’m so glad you kept the Hellblade gene because it looks sooo freaking cool. Glavenus is my favorite monster of all time (subspecies and deviants included 😊) so this is my type of build! My Inner harmony is at its peak! 😜
I've actually had some success with Pump Up on this build over Valiant Flare. It's more expensive and less powerful on those first couple turns than Valiant Flare, but when your goal is constant criticals the consistency of Pump Up really starts to add up. As an added bonus the Def drop helps me get into Heroics range faster!
For a co-op oriented build, I’ll advise swapping Salt in the Wound for Synchronize (double attack damage up). I’m not a huge fond of Heroics in this build neither since I doubt it will proc reliably, but I couldn’t find a better fire gene alternative for it so I guess I’ll stick with it for now.
For those who haven't gotten post game yet I will share this, I have the game on switch, post game I had found a few Hellblade Glav eggs in Rare High Rank Monster Dens around the volcanic map, not just Super Rare Dens or Expedition quests. I am not sure about the other Deviant Monsties I haven't found any yet, Hellblade however I know can be found in this den.
Harmony! Here to answer the dancer Q: If your monstie is at full HP at the start of their turn it calculates the speed bonus, while the Atk/def boost fluctuate depending if you’re at full HP r not. The atk/def buff is roughly ~16% & the speed boost is 20%, which is why they’re separated. Thanks for the guides!!
I was wondering the same thing about the Dancer XL gene as well. In my testing I could not confirm if the attack and defense buff sticks. If someone can confirm if that the attack and defense buff sticks it would change if this is a must have gene for me.
I tested the dancer with my mizu and i hit consistendly for 712 at full hp and dropped to 642 with 2 hp missing aka not full hp. So i think the dancer bonusses just kick in at full hp.
I was sooo waiting for this. I am trying to make a Hellblade as well because I am not a Teostra fan but I wanted a good fire monsti.. I was actually more hyped for Hellblade than I was for Boltreaver which I know is a unpopular opinion .. Harmony
I tested out the dancer gene and it seems it doesn't show the buffs outside of battle but only during battle i noticed an attack boost and seems like the buff only stays if you have full health at the start of your turn
Harmony. Question! Would Inflict Rate Up XL help Slugger XL? My build is very similar to yours except I'm using Slugger XL instead of Salt in the Wound, because I'm hoping that 2-star Slugger XL paired with Dancer XL will be devastating. Get hit with a critical and then you're stunned and can't react.
You need to make a video going over genes like this dancer gene, I have started building monsties on a save file, testing them, then reloading and going with a different build, but I just dont have the time to really test alot, that dancer gene seems OP if it passively " seriously boost attack and defense" I just wonder by how much , there is just soo much mystery when it comes to these genes still. Let us know how you think it works out.
I've been testing dancer a bit. I've found that the attack boost is instantly active on full heath and is about a 15% buff. The speed buff seems to be +2.
Harmony. I never really thought about using Glavenus until I saw this video. I usually use my Azure Rathalos as my primary fire monstie. In fact, I have a Hellblade in my stables that's level 20ish, but ditched him for other monsties. Looks like I'll be bringing him back out again.
If its like peak performance in the main games, dancer's atk and def buff works at full hp like it says with the speed boost on the description of it. I wasnt sure of dancer gene myself so I had to look around for the answer. Also, Harmony.
Hatched my hellblade with Fire (XL), Crit Eye (XL), and Heroics (XL) with all of the genes being in a configuration that will still get all the bingos :D I didn't even want hellblade, but I just got out of the story and got it by accident, decided it would be better than Ratha lol.
Speaking of fire genes, does the fire resistant gene boost Glavenus's total defense because it has the fire symbol next to the stat? Is that normal defense or only against fire attacks?
Harmony, but I'm using bombing raid/tackle gene instead of harmony or dancer, reason, it's an AoE and has a chance to cause blast blight which is more abnormal status effects for salt in the wound, also more fire bingo's. And even swap out heroics for slugger gene xl if you're not planning on being below 50% health much. This is for pure PVE mind.
I’ve been trying to farm pink rathian for days. Is it better to just do fire egg runs now, or just spam rare dens? (I may have been in the wrong part of Lamure for the dens btw). I am relatively new to the end game of this game but for some reason the genes kinda confuse me along with the bingo effect. So its not a good idea to try and bingo your monstie genes? Should I just put particular skills that just match the build I am going for? If that is the case what is the point of bingo-ing the genes? Also is any monstie viable? I have seen multiple videos on people saying the higher the rarity the better the monster basically? Like elders run the game and deviants. Should I just stick with them then?
I'm not fully into the pvp yet, but I am fairly familiar with the game so I'll try to answer the best I can. Are bingos good? Yes. Basically, bingos give an extra buff to the damage. For example, a fire bingo boosts fire damage, water bingo boosts water damage etc. If you can get a bingo or a couple, I would recommend it. That being said, bingos aren't always a priority as a good build is mainly how well the synergy is between the different genes and the monstie, and if the genes fit the build you're going for. Bingos are nothing to sneeze at, however personaly I'd say go for the specific genes you want and if you get the opportunity for a bingo then take it. Just like the glavenus in this video a lot of builds sacrifices a bingo or two for genes that fits better. (it's also important to know that the size of the bingo boost decreases once around the 4th bingo of the specific type (I don't remember the exact number)). "Is any monstie viable?" Yes and no. The higher rarity monsties such as deviants and elders does tend to be more powerfull in general. I have seen people say that the difference between the strongest and the weakest is about 20% which might be a big number in the context of pvp however, you can use any monstie you want as everything is mostly based on the monsties build and your strategy. Basically, a Velkhana and a Legiana can both be terrifying or a complete breeze depending on how they are used, and while most people use elders and deviants it doesn't mean lower rank monsties are bad. To summarize, use your favourites. I hope this helps and answers some of your questiones. Also, if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
