I’m glad you watched a video about Sinaia and the Peleș Castle, though this video didn’t do the town and castle justice. Sinaia is a beautiful mountain town filled with old 19th century mansions and buildings while the Peleș Castle is an architectural gem of Romania. The style of the castle is generally accepted as being “German Romanticism/Neo-Reinassance” though it also incorporates a lot of hues from Italianate and Gothic Revival styles, making it an example of 19-20th century Eclecticism (as a student of Architecture, I had to write this 😅). Fun facts: Those who constructed the castle where workers from 30 countries and 20 ethnicities where present at the site. It was the first European castle to be lit by electricity and first to have an elevator. The Atrium’s glass roof is retractable, another first (it can be seen at 9:49).
King Carol I, first king of Romania was German, from the house of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. When he came to Romania, he fell in love with our mountain scenery. He then ordered the construction of a summer retreat and hunting preserve, which will later become the Peleș Castle. The plans were made by German architect Johannes Schultz. Years later, King Carol also ordered the construction of another, smaller castle called Pelișor, for his nephew and heir, King Ferdinand and his wife Queen Marie. The video doesn’t show it, sadly.
After the King made his residence in the area, numerous elites and rich politicians from Bucharest and other areas made homes or summer residences in the vicinity, and Sinaia quickly grew as a posh, fancy destination for the Romanian upper-class, named in newspapers as a “Versailles-like destination in the middle of the Romanian Mountains”. It’s a beautiful area to visit, since there’s lots to do here. The famous Sinaia Monastery is also a must-see. There’s also the bordering towns of Bușteni (which has the Cantacuzino Castle where they filmed the Netflix show “Wednesday”), Azuga and Predeal, all mountain resorts. And yes, bears are everywhere in our mountains, it’s hard not to find a bear here when you are the country with the highest bear population outside of Russia…😅

Sinaia is a great place my friend and its not as overpriced plus you have many more places to visit near Sinaia witch makes it a good tourist spot .Hopefully one day you can come visit here my friend , im sure there will be plenty of people willing to help you if you ever visit Romania
