I started off as a medic, just running & reviving players. Watching what they did & how the game generally flows. I’m lv 80 & still learning something every game. Oh & I still can’t see the enemy 99% of the time.

@@SoulSniperYTit’s still hard for me to spot enemies even though I have watched that video. I have been playing a couple times a month at my friends home. I only have a PS4. So maybe when I get my own PS5 I will be better because I will play more.

I can see enemies so frequently just not all of the time
Soul's spot the enemy video is useless. Not because it's a bad video, but because it's impossible to spot the enemy in HLL. I'm level 226 in this game and I only see the enemy 20% of the time. Get used to it.

After about 5 hours in game I stumbled across one if your tutorial videos for beginners. I now have 1500 hours across PS5 and Xbox and it's become my permanent go-to for video games. I cannot thank you enough. This game scratches a very specific itch that Battlefield and COD just doesnt come near.

The level 6 rifleman with explosive ammo and G43 is pretty sweet!
All you need guys need to listen to this man. He trained me. I also recommend learning some real world small unit tactics if you REALLY want to go deeper. Games like this, Squad and ARMA are MUCH better when you have a basic understanding of Small Unit Tactics. Obviously it's a game and ARMA is way heavier on the Real World stuff but it helps react to battlefield conditions when you know what bounding overwatch or IMT is. Learn real world stuff if your going to squad lead for sure. I'm prior infantry and my knowledge has benefited me greatly in leading a squad on this game.

Started as auto rifle and MG, lots of fun. Currently level IX rifleman, working to max that out now.
Great vids. Have been playing ARMA since the beginning of the series splitting time with DCS but then a ton of great new shooters (HLL, PS, Squad etc etc) came out. Of course I ended up buying all of them and have not focused hard enough on any particular one. I installed HLL again which still remembered the small amount of progression I had made and went back to the practice range to get a feel for things again. Arma and DCS will always be there but am going to really give HLL a dedicated go as I normally play single player (DCS, ARMA) and it's time to have some MP fun. The graphics seem to have improved dramatically since the last time I tried HLL so thats just a bonus. Thanks for the intro vids. The do's and don't vids along with the role vids has been extremely helpful making it easier to jump in again. Will be looking for that server you mentioned.
I probably know the game but I'm just not making the connection of what the acronym is... What is DCS?
Just started playing last night, and after experimenting with the rifleman, assault, and automatic rifleman, I fell in love with the antitank role. A Puma snuck up on my buddy and I when we hopped out of a supply truck to build a garrison. I had literally just said “man, I wish I had a tank to shoot up the ass right now.” Five seconds later, I blew up the tank (and my friend) but it was worth it! Having a garand, grenades, and a bazooka makes me feel ready for almost any scenario
Tried HLL during the free weekend and will be buying it before the sale's up. I had two games as a tank gunner and got told I was a natural, so I think I'll try being a Crewmain! Will check out other videos of yours as well!

Advice for every experienced player, make sure you point the new players to the tutorial vidios from Soulsniper, monoespecial and Terrydactyl. Always encourage new players to avoid squad lead and commander, in particular be very firm about level 10 commanders, it can really wreak the game for the rest of the team.

Me and my son just bought Hell let loose and will be playing this weekend.
We both play on xbox series x's , and I've been playing a lot of enlisted ..... I wasn't happy with the new merge and the new updates that came after it !
I also am after more realistic game play , something with team work so I am looking forward to playing this game .
The hard part for me will be talking on headsets , but I will because I want to be a team player !!!

Just keep the talking simple and you'll be good. Hell let loose lets you ping enemies which puts a small red triangle on them that's visible to your squad mates for 5 seconds. So a simple ping followed by " enemies on ping" is incredibly helpful without requiring you to be some military language expert lol. I hope you both enjoy the game as much as I have!

I'm still trying to figure out if I can choose Allies or Axis ?
We choose USA before going into a match and still end up on Germany side .
I'm thinking that on xbox ..... we don't get to chose sides , maps or even game modes ?
But even if not , I still really enjoy the game !!! The graphics and audio is freaking sweet !!!
We didn't have any running issues or really even any bugs that I noticed either .

Just started 2 nights ago. I gave a run at all the roles and seem to do well as an antitank guy. I guess I have a good eye for tank destroying lol 😂
Playing the game day by day being as a medic. It’s a hard game yet I don’t have a headset with a mic which I’m really mad😡about. But your guide really helped me. I’m going to continue being a medic class until I feel comfortable playing it and getting used to the mechanics of the game and what not.

Thank you for the information! If have the game, I will be in the position of a sniper because I like to judge distance, time of the target movement, and the bullet of the bullet travel time. Similar to The Hunter Call of the Wild.

Ngl I started off as being a SL. Its all because the server that shows up on the top of my list is the Easy Company server #3. In this server, no one speaks and no one follows commander’s order, thats why I am trying to take up the position and try making a change in match. My SL skill, like communication, game knowledge, etc is limited so there are only so much I can do, but Im glad that I took the position cos it force me to learn the game way faster. Now I will start playing in your server so that I can play some more different roles and get the pressure off my back.
Just got the game after this past Christmas and I have been DEVOURING the anti tank role. Imo it’s perfect for new players because it’s a very simple role, similar to the rifleman in most ways, except this time you have your own distinct gimmick which is both simple and easy to understand yet effective and important
I have 70 hours into the game I started off as medic and learned a bit then I started mainin support to supply whatever teammates or squad leads needed it. Now I usually try and get engineer to build nodes for commander and farm xp then I switch to a role I wanna level up. I find myself going squad lead a lot bc people like to start squads then leave them, but other than that at this point I’m Jack of all trades in the infantry after I build nodes with engineer class.

Started as medic because I thought reviving ppl would contribute more. Then support because I watched your guides. Now comfortably as MG troop because I have defensive mindset, crative to flank space, and sucky aim 😂 proudest role when I did 360 defense in church tower at St. Mere, and broke down any flanks using squad comms
Found your channel off recommendation from Superdude in his "Thirds Spaces" video essay. Saw HLL and immediately thought it appealed to me as a shooter player who really enjoys the importance of tactics. Can't tell you how much I appreciate these videos to watch and get myself warmed up while I've got the game downloading in Steam right now.
I will say I def get a bit of inferiority complex when it comes to games with steep learning curves like this and was curious how the community as a whole generally treats new players. I know of course there's always a couple bad eggs in every batch, but I'm just wondering how negatively it will impact my team (and how they'll react to my obvious lack of experience) if I'm running around with no idea what's going on.
I felt the exact same way when I first got into the game, but I just told people that I was new and everyone was super cool. And plus, you are coming in with a solid base of knowledge of what the game is about and how it's meant to be played, which already puts you at an advantage over many other newcomers who truly just jump in blind and see what happens.
But yea, just let people know you're new and willing to learn and people will be happy to help show you the ropes. Especially if you play on my server, SoulSniper's SOF. Look for anyone with the [SOUL] or [SOF] tag and they'll help you out! Enjoy!

One caveat is that assault is the smoke role, so make sure you're using your smoke grenades! (pop them on the enemy, not on your team)
Thanks soul your server is great ,too many rookies these just jump into officer roles and completely upset squads don't use comments and make the game experience a negative frustrating one,I am tired of playing the SL role

Also mic with all roles is helpful too.
I swap around between Medic, Anti-tank, or machine-gunner. Having those easily defined roles helps me be useful in matches constantly and the game more fun.
Over 100 hours in the game and my go to class is Rifleman - i just love the rifles, however i often dab into Assault and AT. I have started dabbing into the support role also now.

New to hell let loose been playing for a week. In my personal opinion the best role to start with (so long as your willing to learn, communicate, and cooperate) is officer. You start with an smg but also encourages to play more passively compared to assault so you get more time to understand the gunplay and more breathing room. On top of that your able to listen in to other commanders and squad leaders and learn more of the feel of the game alot easier then if your any other class. However if you are starting with officer you need to be ready to swap off of it to let someone more experienced step in just in case your other squad leaders are also new. Because of this approach (combined with your awesome videos) I was able to pick up commander the second I reached level 30 and absolutely decimate the lobby. My first game as commander ended with 30 infantry kills, 5 officer kills, 4 vehicle kills, and 0 team kills. Just be sure your cooperating and relaying information properly and you'll do fine.
The main reason I disagree is simply because command chat can be completely insane at times and make it very hard to even hear yourself thinking let alone playing well.
@@SoulSniperYT yeah I understand that. I kinda got thrown into the officer role because I didn't understand how squads worked and ended up playing officer on my first match. Luckily I had very supportive squad mates and fellow officers to keep me on the right track. I guess it really depends on how well you can listen to squad mates and play at the same time. But newcomers should not be scared of taking that initiative of being an officer. Its a very fun role that has alot of responsibility tied to it
Started as machine gunner, no mic.
I’m still very new; a week and a half in, but I always look for squads with comms, I just sit and suppress, help my teammates.
I'm totally addicted to the MG class. Bren Gun needs a bipod ASAP
Personally I started off as a Medic and MG. Both are pretty straightforward, and help teach how other players move around the map.
Medics are basically useless , extremely niche at best.

For night maps use 200percent in game brightness you'll thank me for that. IF your playing squad leader pay attention to the map especially warfare mode.
what were the settings you were running when explaining the MG role?
on the desert map it looked absolutetly georgous and i cant recreate the look you had in my game or was it some kind of aftereffects while editing?

Just bought it today! I’m nervous to jump in. I’ve literally only played it for like an hour total at a friends house. Loved it, but also intimidated by the complexity of how the game really works. Coming from Battlefield, it’s a whole new world
Don't sweat it too much man. It's still a game and while it's intimidating and a bit of a step up in complexity from Battlefield, it's still fairly accessible to newcomers. It's brutal in that it only takes a bullet or two to take you out, and certain roles are confusing at first, but if you just stick to the simpler grunt roles and use your mic/be up front about being new to the game, the experienced players will help you out.
@@SoulSniperYT thanks buddy. The more hardcore nature of the game with the low TTK is actually part of the appeal. And I am interested in learning the game thoroughly. The limited play time I had, I enjoyed rifleman. And managed to get a little 4 kill streak laying in a bunker amongst some dead bodies. It’s so satisfying. And the visual and sound design is unbelievable. The artillery barrages and strafing runs are stunning. looking forward to it!
Just got back on HLL the other night. I see they still haven't fixed the officer's awol-ing after forming a squad. Could we not compromise and give officers more custom options like heavy weapon load-outs? Also, put a freaking bipod on that damn BAR!

I started last Saturday and my first class was machine gunner
Just down loaded This game yesterday and I'm understanding it very slowly. The biggest problem I have is 1v1 face to face matches. I lose 99.9% of them when an enemy comes around the corner. Even if I see it coming they have their gun up primed And they already have a shot off on me. I could have an automatic and they could have a bolt action and the first shot I'm done. And I'm pretty good at shooters which I'm surprised do you have any videos on close contact? Maybe some controller settings that make it easier. I see there's kind of like a auto aim setting low medium high. Should that be off?
I play on PC so I can't really speak to controller settings, but there's guys in my discord who are on console who would help with that stuff. Honestly this game is just hard at first. You're going to lose most 1:1 engagements when first starting out. You're facing people who have been playing longer and have a good feel for the gunplay. The best thing you can do is try to get the jump on people by being sneaky and flanking when possible. Eventually you'll get quicker and more accurate and you'll start taking people out when you bump into them close up. Just keep playing and keep your chin up.
you say it all very nicely, but very honestly, most of the servers I play in now have absolutely no active commander or officers, in fact yesterday in a game you literally have to ask for help 12 times before they even realize it. It's a fun game, but team play is hard to find
Depends on where you play. On consoles? Probably tough. On PC? Better but still depends on the server. The top community servers? Completely different experience!

I tried rifleman but I didn't like the bolt action reload time, I had to play on the Soviet team.. I kept getting taken out. That's why I looked for a video like this.

Another great way to learn how to be an effective squad leader is to come over to our SoulSniper server and play the role. Get a couple [Soul] players in your squad and we'll help you learn the ropes, and the other squad leaders won't yell at you.

I don’t get the “I can’t see people” thing I can find the enemy and understand the flow of battle and I’m level 10 it’s using the classes that can actually help the team I’m here for.

Choosing rifleman role also allow your more experienced squadmates to switch other roles with no troubles.
Be patient with your new tank crew members, I’m like halfway through the process of learning the ropes, I’m having fun but as said early in the video, the grumpy veteran players don’t have any sympathy and expect you to know exactly where every tank or group of infantry is at all times lol
And I find that a lot of tanks will reject new players that try to join the squad.
Ling as your not squad lead or commander on your first ever play youll be aight😂

Please don't overlook the support class. Support is great.
1) It's incredibly helpful to your squad lead and not enough people do it.
2) It'll teach you how the game is actually won a lot faster than anything else as you learn what garry's are and how they completely control the game.
3) It's low pressure. Your job is to carry a box around and drop it where you are told to. Once you have done that you are now a regular sized rifleman and have zero pressure on your head.
4) The class gets better guns quickly with unlocks, so for example, you won't be stuck with the kar98 bolt action every match on germany.
5) Support player's are a necessary ingredient to win a round.
Here's where I quibble with the advice in the vid.
1) Rifleman is just inferior to basically every other class. It might give you a better gun than another choice if there are no other options available; but it's a low preference default. Your ammo box is nothing because ammo is not a critical resource in this game.
2) Auto rifleman is ok as a choice for a new player. No complaint. An automatic gun is slightly more forgiving to miss with and you get much better chances in close engagements and more firepower.
3) Assault. Ok choice, but do be aware that assault has a higher skill celing and good (and the best) loadouts are later in the game. By blocking it you are denying a more experienced player from being more helpful. Smokes are genuinely hard to learn to use strategically and a lot of players screw this up by flaring up their own teams position and blocking los from friendly tanks- don't be like them.
4) Medic is an underpowered class that serves little functional use in the game which has fast respawning mechanics & fast time to kill- lives are low value in the meta and deaths do not matter. Basically, don't ever play this class. You will eventually learn there is a reason everyone holds f to respawn before you can run to them.
5) MG takes some practice to predict timing & where good spots will be and has some really badly implemented bipod mechanics that will frustrate you. Sure, give it a go, but it's certainly not a great intro to the game and not for everyone.

I think you're ignoring the context I gave in the video where I talked about how most new players want a low pressure experience where their teammates aren't going to be relying on them for things. Then once they get comfortable with the very basics, they should consider more.valuable and helpful roles.

Moreover I do appreciate you giving a softer landing for a very overwhelming game, so thank you for that.
But yet there are some harsh lessons that are worth knowing day 1.

@@DK_play-lh6zg I disagree about support honestly. Is it hard to scroll to a box and click to set it down? No. But does having squad leaders asking you to redeploy in G5 and put down your supply box a bit stressful? I think so. Again, when you are brand new to the game and suddenly squad leaders need you in certain positions throughout the game so they can do their jobs, that's a bit much to carry. I get where you're coming from though. Some newcomers will be a bit more resilient and brave and those folks I would absolutely encourage to play support.
just play whatever you want, try stay away from officer and commander and you will be fine
I always tell new players just focus on learning long range combat, and spotting enemies.

I tried the game, get killed every second, uninstalled, its the second time I uninstalled the game, I feel that for new players its impossible to understand what are you doing
HLL basically comes down to Know your Role and Shut your Hole
I started as a Officer got into the role fast and easy. Only been 5months causal playing already got every class maxed😂. Engineer/Support swap at beginning of the match has helped so much. At level 148
Anything but the commander. As a new player get your rifleman to level X then you’ve played long enough to be commander
Not even remotely true. That’s still not even level 50 dude, and nowhere near the level of game and map knowledge and ability to multitask and react, never mind lead a team and understand all the nuances of maps and points and game modes and garrison placements. Absolutely nobody should be commanding at level 10 rifleman, ever. Sub level 100s should stay off the role completely - even level 200+ players are horrible at the role more times than not.
@@siLence-84 Bro it’s just a garrison build simulator with the ability to drop a unrealistic bomb wherever you want the games not hard for anyone with a few hours in game to know how everything works. By the time it takes to level up a class fully you’ve played enough to play any role. If your looking for a mill sim this game is not it. It’s just a ww2 call of duty hard point /capture the flag game loop. Relax. Armour is almost irrelevant. Shoot driver spot shoot rear of engine. It’s all just a gameplay loop with nothing original or unique. Sure the maps are cool that’s it. Build nodes build garrisons recon shoot arty you act like this game is hard bro it’s easy

I dont agree with this tutorial.
You might be right, that these are the classes for a non complicated start in the game and to get used to the gunplay.
But this is leedibg towards squads witch contain many new players to be very useless from a tactical POV.
A support is an easy role with good teamimpact. Standard rifle and just follow the SL, he will tell you what to do.
Buildings nodes can be teached quickly by a mate in the in game voicechat, so engineer is a nice role to choose as well, at least for a few minutes
The key word here is start. These are good roles to start with not stick with for eternity. I reiterated this several times throughout the video.

I agree with it all except MG. Mg in hell let loose is awful . I wouldn't recommend it and avoid it like the plague. You can't place it properly and when you need to quickly,it gets you killed. You can only put it where hll let's you which is ok on el al map where it's vast open spaces on hills ,but on all other maps it's a nightmare. Having played mg in lots of other games...this one is the worst.
The bipod BS needs fixing, I agree. But if you learn the quirks of where you can and can't set up MGs, it's a beastly role. I do quite well with it.
You're supposed to play like a suppressive sniper with MG, avoid being infront of the enemy, try to find a semi-flank. If you have to quickly set it up you're in the wrong place, or not patient enough. The ground is usually a better spot than a wall or window anyway, so the bipod isn't really an issue.
i disagree that mg is a good role for new players. doing good with mg requires at least an intermediate knowledge of the maps as well as being able to predict enemy movements. it's easy mechanically, but pretty hard strategically. id much prefer a new player in my squad playing literally any other class
I see your point and don't necessarily disagree. But I still think it's a good class to learn with because it doesn't require any particular gameplay mechanic that your team really relies on heavily. It's a role that helps you learn exactly the things you just mentioned. Map knowledge, positioning, anticipating enemy movements, etc.
The first role is communication....get a bloody mic and use it! Hll is full of squads that don't
