I'll never forget the commander that encouraged me to drive a supply truck for the first time. He hopped into the passenger seat and tutored me on how to build nodes and where the best place would be to drop supplies. I think we lost the match because he was busy showing me something but prioritized my knowledge over the match. This game is a breath of fresh air, and I find it really cool how such an unforgiving game has such a helpful, wholesome, and often times hilarious community

Just adding on a few things:
    1) Bushes are your friend (and foe): Bushes, good for hiding, and ambushing people. Always try to be near one, it might save you. (In short.)
    2) TRUCKS: I swear to god, please return the trucks if you can once dropping off soldiers. It’s good to place them next to either Garrisons, or back at the HQ. We really don’t need a transport truck taking a tank shell just cause someone left it sitting in the capture point.

When starting, I instinctively went as a medic, as the purpose of the role is straightforward, and allows you to be hanging around pretty much anyone, to find out what they do, eavesdrop on the chat and get up to speed, without bugging others with questions. If you don't want to distract from the battle - that initial truck ride is the good time to socialize and ask things, as no one's got anything to do yet. Of course, you'll sometimes run into complete goofballs, but that's to be expected of any game. There are teams that won't shut up, and teams that are silent. Commander chat is either crickets, or so many voices, that it feels like a real war chaos.
Not being used to the genre, of course, I went Rambo a few times, but found that best kills can sometimes be had, just hiding in a bush with a silent pistol. I've had one game, where I think I laid 12 people down, and they kept coming over to investigate what was happening. Make less movement, less noise, and you'll survive the longest. I love the learning curve. The game is great. Prefer it over Tarkov, but that's a matter of preference. I wish some maps were a little more vehicle friendly, but it's good enough. I mean, if something's bad for a tank, it's good for you, if you're at the other end of that barrel. All fair game. Map symmetry is good.
Haven't played Post Scriptum. Watched reviews for both, and Hell Let Loose looked better to me.

As a new player, I was surprised at how nice the community was and willingness to explain the role. We had a commander playing his second or third game in that role and a few other squad leaders were giving him point. I prefer medic or engineer but one of my pet peeves is when the squad leader abdicates the role and nobody steps up. One of the things that I do as squad lead is tell my squad is on Warfare, to maintain defense on our objective and let other units attack and then move up once the next objective is taken. I'll also make sure to talk to other squad leads and the commander about getting Garrys up on fall back locations as well as an OP for my squad outside of the Garry. My rule of thumb is to at least have 2-3 sides of cover with garrys and OP's to prevent us getting killed off spawn. On Offensive, I always set up the fall back garry and have an OP near the current objective.

Also, no matter how much time you have into the game you still always learn things. I have 400 hours into the game and I just found out you can use Q or E to rotate barbwire to fit into tighter spots where you otherwise couldn't place. (works on most things).
And I still blow mind of players even with 1000 hours that you can HOLD Space to vault over objects with greater success vs slapping space trying to get over walls. It works a LOT better if you get into the habit of holding space.

Also, here’s a tip I’ve taught level 200+ players - for infantry squad leaders only*
You can pick up your outpost the same way you dismantle other things: Hold F. This resets your OP timer, and lets you put it down immediately. Oh you just dropped your OP and then had to kill a dude immediately afterwards who now knows where your OP is? No problem, pick it up and move it.

It’s a good thing to do when new, but sometimes you get lobbies where you will have to initiate the charge or the breaking factor of a stiff defense.
I’ve played countless games where I find myself trying to get a couple people to push up or throw smokes. If you make people feel like they’re going to be doing a big thing they’re more likely to do it,
Can’t remember how many times I’ve helped break a defensive line by getting a few blueberries or squad mates to throw smokes or cover me while I ran to take out a garrison or outpost.
Really good rush of adrenaline when the moments after the take down you see your troops start to move into the gap you’ve just helped to create.
      Edit: spelling

I'm pretty new to the game and most of the time playing as medic or a rifleman. Yesterday I had the best match so far. Two squads were really working together perfectly which was insanely effective. Good cooperation, everyone taking his role seriously and effective communication were the key to our success as far as I can tell. The enemy fought fierce and at times we were vastly outnumbered, but due to the fantastic teamplay we were an unstoppable force. The gaming experience was so good, I had butterflies in my stomach hours later. HLL is a fantastic game if you play with the right people.

Great video! One thing I'm not 100% on boat with - recommending newbies rifleman class. There are multiple classes that do the same thing + more. But I get that newbie locking AT or engi could be worrying at times. Best thing is to ask squad what they need. Support players are angels

One of the few problems with the Hell Let Loose game selection is joining a game where every squad is either full or locked. This happens quite a bit. That's why some people create an infantry squad and then change roles. They might not feel comfortable as the company commander; so, they relieve themselves of that role.

I never intended to be squad leader, but I had to start to take it for two reasons: 1. nobody else wanted it; 2. the one who took never said a word.
In my experience, a properly communicating team has a great advantage over a team that is not communicating, or not coordinating. Get a mic, and don't be shy to use it.
I found the players really helpful if you tell them that you're new. I usually ask the squad to commend low levels; the better loadout the team has, the better chance we stand. Never act like a dork who just came from CSGO and brags about knowing everything. I'm over 40 and my reflexes aren't the best anymore, but I found absolutely great in this game that you can be useful and gain a ton of XP in some roles even without firing a single shot.

Honestly, despite this game being sort of a dying simulator for me, it is definitely good, the folks communicate and are generally nice, well, most of the time. But i do gotta shoutout that guy who taught me how to drive the tank in this game, he was really patient with me, and later on in that same match, we rolled for a 50 killstreak in a Panzer IV, honestly the most fun match i've had on this game as a new player

Instant regret, didn't even have my headset on, tied directly to command channels, being asked to do things way beyond my experience level and not making anyone aware I was brandy new. I've actually met a handful of really cool people so far and I'm having fun. I just really have to hone in on finding targets and winning gunfights. Thank you for the videos!

The best tip, when you’re new, is to find talking squads. Silence is misery in this game.
Enter a game, select a random squad, say ‘hello’. If no response, exit until someone responds. If the whole lobby is bad, exit the lobby and try again.
Eventually you will have a repertoire of friends who will join you in every game and you won’t have that problem.

“Chill and welcoming community” definitely not in my experience. I just get yelled at 90% of the time by teenagers or rotc nerds.
My friend and I grabbed recon and went behind enemy lines. We together racked up around 40 kills. And the entire time we had a commander on the verge of tears in game chat because of it. I assume because we weren’t playing objective or doing more with the recon than others might have.
At the end of the day it’s a game and is for for fun, and we had fun. People take it a little too seriously in my experience.

I love how cinematic and immersive it is. By its fundamentals, you actually have to move and communicate as an actual soldier in WW2. Not like COD that’s fast paced, or BF where you can just do whatever you want. The best is when your under heavy fire defending on point with your team on local chat. Hearing everyone talk In militaristic terms while bullets are flying past your head, hearing armor chug across the road spitting out smoke and everyone is freaking out. It’s crazy how there’s so many people communicating with each other when they aren’t even in the same squads, but we all have the same objective. Literally feels like your in a movie. Also you genuinely have to try so hard for so long to win. So when you do, it’s so satisfying. You have to earn it.
