Listening to this masterpiece is like climbing a stairway to heaven…a mystical journey that begins softly with JPJ inviting you to come up, then Plant’s voice saying “go for it”, Bonham’s drums cheering the soul… and finally the light at the top, this sublime solo, this ethereal beauty that only Jimmy could conceive and the apotheotic ending with the four Zeppelin when we can say “I reached heaven!”. Thank you ZBB, no matter how many times I’ve heard it, STH is my anthem, I’ll never get tired of hearing it ❤
Absolutely…. And I think the “Destroyer” version of Stairway, from 1977 in Cleveland, is the best. Though this recording is awesome too…. I’ve concluded that 1977 Stairway performances are the best…
I recommend Copenhagen 1971. Its on youtube. Plant sings it exactly like the studio version. I ectually think that Copenhagen gig was the peak of Robert's banshee vocals. He sung Black Dog exactly like the album as well. Rovk and Roll he even did a couple of lines HIGHER than the studio version. Immigrant Song as well. I personally think that show was Plants greatest gig of all time.
Yeah it is haha but hes just so good man, the mastermind behind zep, the stage presence, the guitar, the mysterious persona, its all so iconic and legendary@@jimbrewster6483
@@donovan942 He's been my favorite guitarist since 1970, but I would never make a statement like that. There's no such thing as "greatest" or "best ever" because everybody has their own opinion.
punk bands at that time spoke ill of led as well as press critics. so led came back with everything, to prove to everyone the value of the band, and teach punk bands how to play for real. Result: a tour of 51 concerts in 4 months, more than a million tickets sold and an extraordinary success.
Every Stairway to heaven live solo has a certain twist, distinct diverse flavor of its own ... man Jimmy Page just takes you to those levels ...❤❤❤ Long Live Led Zeppelin
Here it given nothing to write, because hear, see, and listening to this voice and Player without Electronic, the Beginn of the biggest Hardrock ever ever giving, not write people there must only hear !!!woooooow
My brother went to one of the nights of this L.A. swing of the 77 tour. I was deemed too young, thereby missing out on the event of a lifetime. We did have the bootleg LP of this, a massive 6 discs I think...amazing to have heard that band on a really great night. Jimmy Page wall always be the best player/composer of the century easily.
One can only hope there are a few multi track tapes of the 1977 tour in the archives. Thank god the bootleggers were there to capture most of this run of shows.
@@gregbyrne743 He really was. They all played great. Page was in great for. Plants vocals spot on and Jones was always great. Really is a great bootleg. My fav also.
I bought this bootleg LP at Mr. Music on Harvard Ave in Allston (Boston Neighborhood) back in 77. Cranked it up every night after last call. The upstairs neighbor moved out and I have had a SCREAMING RINGING in my left ear ever since. Was it worth it? Dam Right! Thanx for cleaning up the audio.
This is the badge holders only when Keith moon went on stage for whole lotta love . There is a no quarter from one of those nights that is like 30 minutes long and it’s so good
Should have been a great year for Zeppelin, but a lot of things started to go wrong. However, this particular solo is very cool ... I still prefer the one from How the west was won ... very smooth and energetic.
The best show was probably the 1st one, June 21, but that Stairway was the weakest of the the Forum shows... I like all the other Stairway's from that run a bit better. Maybe the 25th was best, If I remember correctly.

Greatest band ever

I prefer the 1977 versions of sth because the solo was longer and it was much tighter. Jpj kept it going ..utter magic
Almost 50 years and still rocking hard . I was 20 years old listening yo this in 1977. Remember it like it was yesterday . thanks to u tub.

Exactly. I was there at LA forum. Magnificient
...the decadence of music, its "dark" hour began with punk...from then on, unfortunately, we never returned to the levels of Led Zeppelin....
The great Jimmy Page! Led Zeppelin best band ever!
The interplay and the timing between Page and Bonham is magical!
Sure is!!
one of the best concert in 1977
You cannot get or find anything better, EVER!!! Zeppelin is on a completely different playing field!!!

This is definitely the best version of Stairway I’ve ever heard. Does anyone have a tab to this or something?

It's good, but nothing tops the BBC version: compact, precise, emotional and deliciously mystical.
Just a shame robert couldn't do the high notes like the original but i think his vocals chords were damage by then

Page was a heroin addict at this time. It shows in his solos. This is ok, but its still a long way from his peak, 1973.
Totally agree Jim, Bonham was the star here.
I disagree, i think this solo is more creative and ambitious than the earlier era solos.
