- Today we begin a project that I should have done a long time ago! A rear disk brake conversion! While most people usually use integra rear trailing arms. We will be taking a different route and using Scarebird brackets to get the job done!
Thanks for the video. I’ve been back and forth on if i know how to do this on a del sol. I’ve done my full suspension but brake related always scares me
youre naturally good at this haha, keep it up :)
I don't know if I'd say natural 🤣 been at it for a couple years now
Before that Apple watch ⌚️ we had calculator watches ⌚️ great video man keep it up
We keep it old school!
At least you didn't have to run all new hard lines, yet. Getting them into the proportioning valve in my Fiero sucked. And they used a bubble flare instead of the modern double flare.
Ah that's wack!
Congrats on 1500 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! Hopefully we keep growing!
Always so helpful!
We do what we can! Part 2 drops soon today!
Good morning, video very precise, useful, thank you. I own a 1999 Honda EJ9 Civic VI and I would like to do the conversion, but I don't know where to buy this kit because I'm in Italy.
I wanted to ask where can I buy the kit and how high is the adapter plate from the base.
Thank you.
Nice civic bro. Just a question what size are your rims and tires? And what brand are your rims?
These were 16x7+35 with toyo r888r tires 224/45r16. These are just spoon style wheels I found in eBay, no brand
i have a 98 Honda Civic DX and i got trailing arms from a 95 integra. So i was watching and saw i need to order the si e brake cables and i think i should good to go
Yessir!
You could use the integra ones they are a bit short but work fine
so is the whole point of the scarebird brackets so you don't have to remove the trailing arm?
So you don't have to pay for a new set of rear disk brake compatible trailing arms off an Integra or civic si. They are pretty expensive online
Could you provide me with a parts list? Also will this setup work on a 2000 Honda civic ex sedan
I almost always use a vice grip on old brake line fitting if they have not been off in a while. it's easy to clean up any burs but it's a pain to replace some lines.i only use a wrench on a clean fresh fitting.
Yeah I definitely should have tried the vice grip first🤣 I was too optimistic
@@kraftingkars there's always bumps in the road but you'll get there.
Can you use the vice grips to tighten original fittings too that have rounded off or best to replace?
@@mrsemifixit if it seals it seals.
There is a tool (flare wrench) you could have used. Saves you from stripping things out
I got these conversation plates and they rubbed bad on the caliper mounts, now i wonder if they sent me the wrong part. In the end they offered zero suggestions or any response, in the trash they went. I lucked out on some 97 dc2 arms eventually instead, way better experience.
Hmm, I hope mine work ok, haven't driven with them yet since it's still winter, scarebird was quick with sending me a new set
Theres 2 or 3 different versions for the EK. You probably ordered the wrong ones.
@@mitchellhamilton1753 you know what, i did. Just looked at the site- they offer 2 items that say civic with matching years but one does not mean 96 civic at all it means del sol. I needed the 93-2000 one. (Why 93 anyway? No 92?) Checked my email and it was the wrong one. They need to specify these better. Oh well too late now. Lesson learned for anyone else ordering be absolutely sure you have the right item in your cart.
@@srarcade Good enough, sucks man. I'm in Canada and they dont accept returns for Canadians lol. Cars in storage so I dont even know what I need until I bring it out and strip the trailing arm down, would like to have all the parts ready but sadly thats not possible
Donde comoraste el soporte de conversion ???
can you do this to a 2001. trying to find out where you can get a kit to change to disc in the rear.
Great write up here: www.7thgenhonda.com/threads/diy-rear-drum-brakes-to-rear-disc-brakes.1756/
Tienes los links donde compraste todo ???
Where can I get the scare bird bracket for 2000 civic hatch? I don’t see it for sale at the scare bird site for my year
If it's not listed on the site I guess I would recommend sending them an email. They are a smaller company so inventory may fluctuate
Where do you buy ebrackets
Which bracket did you order?
Hon or cis
So I ordered the wrong set first, that was the hon brackets! So I sent those back and ordered the right ones for my car the CIV brackets! Check out the part 2 video for all the part numbers used!
If I did the same error as you but I can’t ship it back…do u think I can modify it?
Can you pls give us all the links for all the parts when you them
For sure man!
where do.i find brackets
Scarebird website
Do you have a parts/tools list?
Check the description of this video ruclips.net/video/smmvUUTp6sM/видео.html it's all listed there
@@kraftingkars thanks! I just received my brackets.
That's a bummer man! I thought about using these conversion bracket but went OEM way instead. Got a integra hub assy, no hassle no problem at all. Hope you get the right one. Good video by the way.
Oem is always a great way to go! Didn't realize you had a channel, just subscribed to you! Looks 🔥
@@kraftingkars thank you
What did you do to make the brackets fit? If you used any other parts please lend me the link
For real I need it so bad
Does this kit work for the civic Ef sedan?
scarebird.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=67&product_id=116 yep, here ya go!
Please wear gloves, that stuff is toxic AF. Costco has a great deal on a box of 100 Nitrile gloves right now.
Thanks for looking out for me brotha
Can I do this on my 03 civic lx ?
Yep there is a nice write up here www.7thgenhonda.com/threads/diy-rear-drum-brakes-to-rear-disc-brakes.1756/
