  • @paulc2548

    Look like you need to screw the AC directly on the window itself. The issue is you will have a bunch of screw holes all over your window frame :( if you don't need the AC anymore.

  • @rem45acp
    @rem45acp 3 года назад +27

    I just bought this AC (8,000 btu). Very good AC, but I highly suggest skipping all these little "support brackets" and going with a real, external AC unit bracket, that has the built in level and extends outside, with the bottom arm firmly pressed against the outside of the building. There is a great AC support bracket, called A/C Safe Air Conditioner Support (universal) that doesn't even require screws and will keep this at the proper angle. These little brackets are ridiculous especially for renters.
    I repeat: this is a good a/c unit! But buy yourself a real support bracket arm with leveler.

    I watched this because I couldn’t make a y sense of the instructions included with my new LG air conditioner. Unfortunately, these instructions don’t make any sense either, and don’t help me actually fit the air conditioner in my standard vinyl windows. I love the moment at 2:40 where you literally “secure” the type B screws by hanging them off the nubbins on the bottom edges of the curtain panels. I was so excited when my new AC arrived today. I started to install it, and had to run out for a piece of wood to fit in behind my window sill. Attempted install #2. But I can’t get the angle of the unit right, and can’t figure out where to secure those lower screws. Watched about a dozen other videos to finally figure out I actually need a piece of wood to fit in front of the vinyl window sill in order to raise the front of the unit, allow for proper drainage and have something to screw those bottom screws to. Hopefully install attempt #3 will be successful after I go back to the hardware store tomorrow.

    Hello, I have an issue with a LG lw1216er. The unit is spattering condensation on the building facade I believe because of the blade that is designed to dip into the condensation and splash water onto the evaporator. It is also dripping out of various locations. I inspected the tray and it doesn't have any obvious failure points. The only solution I can think of is to build an outer shell with a slope to a drainage point to catch any dripping/spatter but would still allow airflow. Is this a common problem? Do you have any suggestions for other solutions?

    Just bought the lg window air conditioner lw6017r. Purchased this because my previous unit was 8 years old and worried that it won't last another season. Two complaints. 1) Installing the curtain was a nightmare and took over an hour. So difficult getting those screws tightened. 2) although the remote works fine from across the room, I can't see the controls or temp. Not the best design but it is cooling nicely and smaller than my previous 6,000 BTU unit. If anyone has a secret for installing the curtain, please share.

    • @yingthings
      @yingthings 2 года назад +3

      I abandoned the curtain altogether. Supposedly it fits a 35” opening but it will NOT even span 34”. I stretched it to the point of almost flattening out the pleats. Ended up fabricating my own substitute curtains out of plywood.

    I live in a climate that can reach 35C in summer, and -35 in the winter. This unit would have to be removed at the end of every summer... with these instructions they provide here, we'd have to be screwing holes in the windows every year! Is there no better way to secure these units without having to physically screw them into the wall every time?

    Does anyone know if the L-Brackets go inside or outside the window? The printed instructions say they go outside but this video makes it look like they go inside. Are they even necessary? They're pretty flimsy. Called LG support but they could not explain why their won instructions conflict.

    • @joeguilfoyle1922

      I didn't get it either. When I put the AC on the window, the brackets just bent. Like they didn't fit. So I took them out and just put 1 L-Bracket in the center lip of the AC (the part that keeps it from falling out the window) to hold the window down. I didn't want to put holes in the vinyl windows.

    • @robertp7209
      @robertp7209 3 года назад +2

      Do you have an inner sill? The window in the video doesn’t have one. You can get a 2x3 or 2x4 and cut to fit, I used the inner sill, I didn’t want any weight on my window vinyl frame. So the wood runs across the entire sill and it’s screwed down into the sill and further. The channel under the ac sits behind it. If it’s bigger than 6k, i would have legs off the outer wall, no way the sash can take the forces essentially pulling it outward.

There are no instructions for how to attach the guide to the unit. It don't know which screws to use. There are two screws with washers and the rest without, but there are no instructions for where the two screws with washers are supposed to go. II wish these companies spent a little more time and care creating instruction manuals that covered all the details so we wouldn't have to scour the Internet for hours looking for better instructions.

    1. LG needs to include at least twice as much foam, or address the issue with the HUGE gap on the bottom. 2. The whole unit literally sits on top of the two screws meant to hold the bottom brackets, making it very prone to slipping forward and out of the correctly seated position. 3. There really is no way to screw in the bottom of the sliders, as they are placed too high and stick out too far. 4. The instructions at the end about taking screws out of the side and installing support brackets is a joke, because those screws sit about 3" above my inner window sill. Not happening guys.

    This 5,000 a/c does NOT, Repeat done Not fit a 35 inch wide window. It says it does, but it is a lie. The unit is only 17 1/2 wide, those slide panels will only stretch out 7 inches on both sides. so that is 14 inches and 17. 1/2 inches for a total 31 inches, lease a 4 inch gap. two inches on both sides.

    lmao "don't put in direct sunlight." It's a freaking window air conditioner. If this can't survive sunlight then it should say "Shaded window air conditioner." This is what happens when you let companies go unregulated marketing whatever they want to scam customers (unlimited plans but not if you actually use too much). If my window air conditioner doesn't last a few years, I am returning this product.

      To: Anne Summers,
      🔵 It sounds to me like you're asking too much of a 6000 BTU unit, I don't know how many square feet your apartment is, but it sounds like you need upwards of a 10000 to 12000 BTU unit.
