- The Red Army Choir (Alexandrov Ensemble), Harvard University Men's Glee Club and The Choir of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra sing the anthems of the Soviet Union, United States and Canada before Game 1 at Rendez Vous 87 in Quebec City
The soviet anthem was so powerful we just couldn't complete with that
We won this game.
Soviet brings army, USA brings nerd, CANADA BRINGS GRANDMAS
😂😂😂😂
😂
USSR performance: 😎😲👏
Canada performance: 😊😃😄
USA performance: 😂🤣🤭
Politics aside, the Russian Anthem is quite stirring and very emotional in its delivery...
I'm as conservative as you can get, but to me the national anthem of the Soviet Union/Russia is the best that's ever been composed.
Mieux AVEC la politique. De plus, c'était l'hymne SOVIÉTIQUE, pas russe.
@@Lava1964 Je suis aussi PROGRESSIF que possible donc c'est MIEUX !
I am Russian - from 1917 to 1944 our national anthem was “The Internationale” and I’d personally prefer if that was reinstated, in my opinion it’s a much better representation of communism and internationalism.
I'm glad that Russia chose to keep the melody for the anthem, after the USSR collapsed.
Not from 1991-2000
I remember watching this wonderful presentation- one of the best pregame ceremonies ever! Les Nordiques also had the best organist in the league. Would love to see Quebec City back in the NHL.
The Soviet National Anthem is the best performance
Well...it's a good thing we won the hockey because we got killed in the anthem singing lol.
Maybe the hockey win was the Real thing that destroyed the Soviet union
6:04 Must admit, I got goosebumps, especially when it was on the Red Serge saluting and it faded to the Canadian Flag. That was awesome.
I so love the Soviet anthem and the team the most.
*we
Should Quebec City ever land the Winter Olympics, they need to get the Quebec Lyric Society to sing both O Canada & the Olympic Hymn.
Beautifully unique version of O Canada
The crowd appreciates good singing!
AMAZING!!!!
This video surely finishes at 2:36 .
Don't lose your time! 😉
It's like comparing rifle with sword, surely Soviet anthem was best among all ❤️
I am wondering if anyone of them came back in 2008 for the Québec City International Festival of Military Bands ? (Amazing Choir).
An entire platoon of army, a bunch of nerds and a herd of grandmas. Boys, come on... deep down we know what we'll choose.
I love lhymne national du Canada
Many of the Russian choral group and musicians were killed in a plane crash several years ago...
Their legacy will be missed 💪
CCCP jersey is beautiful 🇲🇽🇷🇺
At 1:36, is that Ivan Drago in the middle in uniform singing?
What about the players from Finland & Sweden? It was more than 3 nations represented.
Awesome.
USSR ❤️
Chills all around
The russian army sang the russian anthem representing what was the USSR at he time. Your mens singing the american anthem representing tu future of what is the USA of A today and a bunch of old ladies singing my national anthem... God I'm so proud to be canadian LOLL.... François, Montreal....
The US was represented by a group of rich white boys.
@@mcaddicts Accurate for sure lmao
@@mcaddicts and the USSR represented with corrupt army officials
URSS anthem, amazing, pure beauty! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
The Russians have a great musical history, not surprising that this anthem is so good. Does anybody know who wrote it?
The music is Alexander Alexandrov, the lyrics Sergey Mikhalkov.
@@rankoorovic7904 Thank you for this info.
Fun fact: Mikhalkov wrote all three sets of lyrics for the anthem at different stages in history - the 1943 version (along with Gabriel El-Registan), the 1977 version and the current one
Oh Russia ♥️ sending freakin’ Army to perform their beautiful Anthem…. The rest is … well stay if you wish to find out after 2:15 🤭
Russia ?
I think you forget Ukraine, Georgia, Belorussia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Latvia, ...
@@kyrios443where is Estonia and Lithuania?
@@Iloveplanes1000 in the ''...''
If a fight broke out, my money is on the Canadian grandmas.
Yeah but the Soviet army chorus literally had officers from the Soviet union in it so I’m assuming they would already know how to fight

oh Canada with both male and female voices a very symbolic statement of Canada versus the male only versions of the Soviet and American anthems.
The Soviet/Russian anthem is uniquely suited for male voices.
Not to belittle others, but the Red Army Choir outshone the rest.
Epic
Watch out for a renegade submarine.
So the ussr could afford a whole ass orchestra but we could only afford a single organ??
What perestroika does to people
Three different anthems, three different languages. Oh Canada should be all in french in that one.
Roger Ducet, the legendary anthem singer at the Montreal Forum, always switched over to English at the same point, although he changed to words to more closely resemble the French lyrics--"we stand on guard for rights and liberty".
No, it was properly done in both our languages.
The USSR shall come back
The Soviets were basically compensating. Their country was pretty much falling apart at that point.
Also they were literally invading Afghanistan at this time
