I was privileged to fly on board one of these beauties when I was in Osaka. She really is a beauty and is beautifully made. That good old Honda reliability!
Reducing vortices also adds better lift performance but mostly noticed when trying to land (greater tendency to float lol) . In theory the winglet is adding more surface area for the air to work with.
Ive followed the development of the HondaJet from way back in 2003, when they showcased a demonstration model at the festivals of speed in St. Petersburg Florida. Right from the jump standing their face to face with its brilliance it was clear to see what a game changer the aircraft would mean for the Private Jet industry. And when you really consider what your getting for its price of 5 million, that's really peanuts in todays world when many folks are spending that on small boats and sports cars. Ironically the demo Honda Jet was in fact placed in the Boat and Yacht pavilion of the show. Knowing full well where the money was at. But it is when you consider what the aircraft provides that you truly understand why its worth every single penny, and is in fact a bargain, as your getting Big Boy features some only found on much much larger aircraft of a completely different class. The Honda Jet has great range great speed, exceptional performance and efficiency. The comfort of its cabin, a lavatory , plenty of luggage space, capable of single pilot operations with the best of Garmin Avionics, with operational ease that pushes such an aircraft to becoming more akin to the spirit of Honda's excellence in ease of use. More over, such an aircraft boasts of so many highlights that its notoriety has gained it rare superstar status. Its makes for a great investment, for either private ownership or even those who desire to level up their fleet with something far better than the sorts of aircraft typically flown in its size class. In other words, its a big deal.
1:20 Those wingtips, while large and very effective, do not "generate lift." They reduce induced drag by decreasing the effect of wingtip vortices- caused by high pressure air below the wing slipping up and over the tip of the wing to the low pressure air. They DO increase efficiency, but not from increased lift, rather from decreased drag.
Proud to live in and fly out of Greensboro, NC where this beautiful aircraft is produced. The person who owns the plane I fly, and his flight instructor, work for HondaJet and I've only heard good things about the company. My girlfriend also knows the founder's son, Mark, which is pretty cool. It's quite a cool thing sharing the same airspace with multiple HondaJets, which is just an amazing aircraft and looks badass. Great video!
The upward extensions on the wingtips are called "winglets" and they do not produce lift. They reduce induce drag by preventing the formation of wingtip vortices or the spiraling of air when the upper and lower airflow meet on the tip of the wings
Looks nice, but I don't get private jet ownership. At $5M (which is cheap), that can get you something like 1,000 Business Class or 500 First Class tickets. And I'm not even factoring in paying the pilots, fuel, maintenance, hangar fees, etc, which are very expensive over time. I understand the exclusivity and time factor, but it's a steep price to pay in my eyes when commercial Business/First product these days from Emirates, Singapore, and the like are so nice.
Denny C, There are two important things I would imagine of the type of people who buys private jets; these are Time and Convenience. If someone is even considering such a purchase, they must travel alot and the time saved from not having to go to an airport, with all that entails, is worth it. The convenience is also invaluable when you're not limited to the time frame of commercial airlines and hence, you can come and go at your leisure. Finally, there is no doubt as to some measure of showing off, how could you not; just imagine for a moment, you can ring Geoff the butler and say, "have the jet ready in an hour."
Denny C you’re thinking of it from your point of view where you would be travelling maybe 3 or 4 times a year which would be considered a lot people that buy jets are traveling around the world 3 or 4 times a week sometimes multiple flights a day so factor that in plus their schedules are not conventional that’s why the super rich buy them. What I would say though is this jet doesn’t seem like it’s worth it
Some things you just cant do with commercial flights like regional city hoping to go to multiple meetings in one day. Time is usually the biggest factor though with commercial flights you spend 2 hours just at the airport meanwhile a jet you can be in the air within 15 minutes of you arriving and you can fly faster since airlines like to have their jets fly more efficiently then quickly. Most people who buy jets travel 250-300 hour as year minimum. Now factor in all the time you save being able to fly on your schedule when ever and where ever.
1) 0:41 - Notice the nose gear is partially disassembled. 2) The vertical wing tips, do they actually "generate lift" as the guy said, or do they just control the vortex so that the vortex doesn't reduce lift?
The upper skin of the wing is an exquisite piece of sculpture, machined from a single block of aluminium. It's a shame it's not visible. Whether or not it makes economic sense to own depends on your mission profiles and annual hours, but not having to deal with the cattle pens of commercial terminals or the security grope-apes is worth a lot.
Don't know how this video popped up on my feed but it's funny because I actually work at Honda jet in production where I, alongside other workers, am working on it every day putting it together. Weird to see it on a GQ video on RUclips.
the flight sims should add this! Please don't comment saying that there already is one, I know, I just play multiple, infinite flight on mobile, x plane 11 on set up, etc
You usually only need 2 pilots to reduce the work load. Smaller jets like this where everything is fly by wire and advanced avionics single pilot flying is pretty easy.
What a great looking plane. I know that space is compromised, but with a cruising speed of some 485 M.P.H.you should get to your destination in a timely manor., while you enjoy the view out the window or have the pilot show how to fly the plane then you could act as Co pilot if the need arose.
No it doesnt, imagine driving a porsche for 12 years, then you switch to ferrari fxxk evo, and then someone tells you, ("YoU nEeD tO bE a FeRrArI dRiVeR")
All touch screen in the cockpit sounds like a downgrade. What happens if the touch screen does that weird thing where when you click on something is spazzes out and selects another option on the other part of the screen? What if the touch responses stop working?

You're lucky. 👍😂
乗りたい、
just imagine VTEC kicking in at 30000 feet
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 yerrrr you’ve won 2018 already
you won, haha
This comment is Lamb Sauce approved.
Praaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I'm done xD
I'm pretty sure winglets are not used to generate lift but are used to reduce wingtip vortices.
correct
Thank you was waiting for someone to comment
It's a bit of both.
I don't understand why it would add lift though.
Reducing vortices also adds better lift performance but mostly noticed when trying to land (greater tendency to float lol) . In theory the winglet is adding more surface area for the air to work with.
Fully customizable too, you can put chrome rims , tinted windows. Don’t forget Subwoofers
I know these Honda Jets are relatively new to the market but just the name Honda instills a notion of reliability and thus I imagine will sell well.
I think so too.
You better talk to Alonso
Ask McLaren,😂
Isn't the engine supplied by General Electrics for this aircraft?
Honda and reliability shouldn't be used in the same sentence

4:23 - Handles well on roads also.
LOL

When is the type r version coming out?
Maybe a Spoon verison
Maybe ricer spec version
Mike Owen what the fu## is a spoon version
Lenny Hards it's a flying spoon you folk.
I heard this year only in Japan tho.
i'm $200 in debt yet im watching this😅😅😅😅
jouvert alandwa $200 in debt? Just wait for adult hood and that bomber will go up x 100000
Doesn't matter
You can buy
jouvert alandwa me too dude

$5m seems like a shockingly reasonable price for a jet like this
Can't wait to see them used and cheap in a few years...
Hope they make and sell a lot of them, so the used market will be huge! :D
Good review, I'll certainly bear this one in mind when I'm shopping for my next private jet.
Cheers
how much is it ?
Soon you’ll be able to get extra spoilers from Halfords for that Big Boy 747 look.
Winglets reduce drag by moving wingtip vortices away from the wingtips. They are not lifting devices.
I took a tour of their factory and was very impressed by their facility and professionalism.
Randy M ok
Does it come with a parachute for when the single pilot strokes out?
Nope
I’m sure he’ll hit the autopilot button before stroking out 😜
Right. And then who lands the plane? I'd rather have a chute!
@@Sh9168 You could always put one on your back
nighthawk0077 negative. You wouldn't have time to do anything during extreme g forces.
A great looking aircraft. I worked on the larger airlines planes. I flew on a Gulf Stream once. it was very nice and quick!
Thanks GQ for giving us a review for something we can’t afford
Thank you for the review! I can't wait to buy this myself!
Was waiting for the Vtec to kick in
Can't wait for the more luxurious AccuraJet!

Mate, HondaJet is part of Honda.

Gimme the HondaJet Mugen!
Even if I could afford one, I think I would still fly with easyJet. Nice to see some video of Padstow though 😎 Cornwall is a heavenly place to be.
Great video, great video , good music $5,000,000 is a great deal for a honda jet. I would buy it if i was rich and travelled often

Denny C its all done to impress business partners not to save money.

most private jets are owned by corporations and businesses and are used more as a business tool than a luxury item by private individuals.
Definitely buying this
Thank you! I was going to buy a 747 Private Jet but now i know what to buy instead❤
Will these engines fit in my Honda?
Nice review but don't let that distract you from the fact Hector has 3 Honda Jets with Spoon engines
That's great presentation brother
Beautiful. I bought a used Honda Jet.
A Phenom 100 has a fully functional lavatory.......
I wish this were transatlantic capable. I would love to have a single pilot light jet with range of 4000+ miles.
4:47 the shot I was waiting the whole video for
Great video that you have shown us. Thanks.
I would love a ride on one of these Honda Jets
Do pilots have to wear a baseball cap backwards, wear a hoodie and have a vape when flying this jet?
Thanks, helped me make my mind up on whether or not I should get one 👍🏾
10randhawas you want the Phenom 100 instead don’t you?
Love my Honda Accord!!
at what height does vtec kick in???
XD
Around 20,000 Feet.
Vinayak Gogoi Stop copying people that have thought of it earlier....
don't you mean at what Nautical Miles?
really love this small jet
1) 0:41 - Notice the nose gear is partially disassembled. 2) The vertical wing tips, do they actually "generate lift" as the guy said, or do they just control the vortex so that the vortex doesn't reduce lift?
why m i watching a private jet video
i just ordered mine, excited.
Great review 👏 what is your watch that you're wearing at 2:30?
Now I think I can think of buying my own private jet. It's great for small business owners like me

My company just purchased one, it’ll be interesting to see how it is when it arrives. I’ve been told they are “easy” to fly.
I will trade my Civic for one of these...
OK, but we'll still need $500K US dollars down.
You can trade your civic for a 25 minutes drive
I can't wait for the Type R version!
Glad to see luton on the map
Just ordered one
I love this jet. Maybe one day. One day...

I just love this jet , I wish I could have got one .. I wish ..
Good one ,nice masterpiece.
Excellent spectacular.
Saludos desde Buenos Aires Argentina.
👍😎
Finally, a Honda that looks good with a huge fin on the back.
Very soon i will buy
@3:16 Is the reason why I'm not having a toilet in mine. With the extra space I'm able to have a reclining seat 😁
Oh wow you really sold me im going to buy one!
I can't wait for the "LEXUSJET"AND "TOYOTAJET"🤔🤔😍👍

I like ❤️ HONDA jet. It is so beautiful in the sky 💓😍
Excellent superb video
'No Power! No Power!'
does it comes with sport rims? It should have the option for body kit upgrade.
How much?? I want one.
That Euro music though....
Wings are so close to ground/ground clearance is so less that it can break wing in crosswind/unstable landings.
i really like that honda jet
Best in class private jet till now
supper video. ..neet flyt...good voice. ..I like flyt jurney. .but no money😊😊😊☺
VTEC kick in at 70,000 rpm
Anas Takiyudin haha
Wing tips to not provide lift. They reduce induced drag.
I m buying this in next 5 years.
Bit expensive but I go on holiday in Rock/Padstow so this would be ideal!😂
What's the name of the background song? I know i have it in spotify, but dont remember the name
Soon I will buy , Honda Jet.
It makes sense that it has a Wing..
Even if it's a bit Rice.
Honda Type Reliability.
I like the design of the plane
For sure you want two pilots anyway for safety reasons. I'd never go in a plane when just one pilot was flying

There was one spent a few weeks at Leeds East Airport (Ex RAF Church Fenton) a couple of years ago
Lovable jet
I wonder if they have plans to make a larger one.
VTECH KICKED IN YOOO!!

I feel like I just went on an adventure!
What are the refund policies and should i buy this on ebay or amazon? Will there be any discount on Black Friday?
Does it have neon lights in it and big spoilers?
I have a Honda motorcycle. I wish I could afford a Hondajet.
