Another great GameMaker title is Rivals of Aether, which is one of the most successful platform fighters outside of Super Smash Bros. It also has Steam Workshop support and a large community of modders. The modfing is done entirely through GML code, so it's a great way to practice your GML programming wiyhin the environment of a fleshed out game

I have Gamemaker to thank for one of my favourite games of all time - Pizza Tower. Serving as a spiritual successor to the Wario Land quadrilogy this is one of the most unhinged and Delightful 2d Platformers ever released. It's one of those games where everything just comes together. And paired with an iconic development and Loyal modding community, and you have a recipe for one of the defining games of the Gamemaker engine
I loved Gamemaker in middle school and highschool but since they removed the free version, I don't see a reason to keep going with them when Godot is a thing. But I do have some great memories I gotta say.
Gamemaker is so underrated. Graze Counter GM was my favorite shmup of 2023, and it was made with GameMaker (hence, the “GM” in its title). It inspired me to start working on my own shmup with GameMaker! 🎮😁👍
I was hoping for some information what this game engine is good at and what considerations there are to chose this one over others for a given game project.
So I downloaded it and ... I cannot even read or understand the UI window. I am using M2 Macbook and an external monitor and apparently, this works only on Windows? with one monitor? I have never seen so obvious quality issue. It's shocking they haven't fixed it yet, and it's not new from what I see.
Can you make a fighting game in GameMaker? I have an idea for a game I wanna make that's a mix of fighting game and rpg. Like there's an overworld and you can take some enemies out without having to fight them or beat them directly.
Thanks for sharing. This is why I didn’t get Game Maker. The custom language is very limited in my opinion. Sticking with RPG Maker with JavaScript training and it’s a win win situation to make a game and learn something that can create or give you a job, in my opinion.
Welcome back, awesome video. Recently downloaded GM to use the 12 month licence I had hanging around of the old subscription model. Still undecided where to start do this is a great resource

I've used it for a long time, only dropped it back in the GMS2 era(GMS2 was way too complicated to do things in).
Can we use the Direct3D features in the free version? They were part of the paid version back in the 5.2 to 8 era.

GameMaker, back in the 8 era could make games with Parallax 3D, full 3D, fake, sprite-based 3D like Doom and isometric games.

the enterprise one is a subscription whereas the professional version is a single payment for a commercial license

GML is very similar to Java and C like languages
rpg maker is much more limited than gm in spite of js. also all languages are kinda same, if you know 1-2 you can pickup any other over the weekend.

I wish I could use a GM1.4 interface on top of GM2 .. I hate GM2's interface, it seems bloated to me.
