  • We dug up some more testing from when BIGFOOT 18 was brand new. This is from December of 2011 when the truck was first run over cars, with Dan "The Man" Runte driving.

    I still say #18 is one of the best working Bigfoot chassis. The team was definitely on to something with #18 and #21.

    This is what monster truck driving truly is not that plain old boring ramp jumping and doing tricks like monster jam does now.. this is what I want to see when I see monster trucks car crushing excitement

    I remember this test. They broke three sway bars on the rear during the test. I asked Dan about it later in the year when I saw him run outdoors, and he said the issue was a bad batch of parts. At another test session days later, they used some of the ones that were spares for Bigfoot 16, and they had no issue.

    Very cool, although I wish BF and Bob would’ve made 1 last gen of chassis in house.

    Not once did the Bigfoot team use coil-over shocks on any of its trucks?

    • @TransDrummer1312
      @TransDrummer1312 Месяц назад

      Nope. They historically have either made their own, or run PEI shocks from Dan Patrick, or King nitrogens like the Vaters (which are what's on the truck here.)

      Coilovers and coil/nitro combos are good for freestyle or if you're Tom Meents. Otherwise though, they're kinda too squirrely for racing. At a higher level they become too high maintenance to really offset any benefits to performance. If you go back and watch Adam Anderson or Vaters Jr when they ran coils on GD32 and Overkill, those coils were CONSTANTLY exploding off the truck. It's part of why Vaters ditched them entirely.

    Let me guess, no more ACTUAL ford power?

      They haven’t had an obligation for use anything “Ford” since they parted ways with that sponsorship I think

      They've always run ford blocks.

      The 565 ci is ford is in this truck but they have a smaller Chevrolet 540 ci in Bigfoot 23 / Gunkster monster truck & Bigfoot 19 is the only other truck using a Chevrolet engine.
      Think it's more due to parts availability over anything else that they decided on that & summit racing which sponsors them also carrying them.

      This was a ford engine in this truck.

      This was, and still is, equipped with a Ford.
