    Why is the chassie so weirdly built?

      What are you talking about?

    • @RyTrapp0
      @RyTrapp0 6 лет назад +2

      THAT is a damn fine chassis that's designed to maximize strength while minimizing weight - it looks 'weird' because it doesn't have a lot of excessive tubes that add minimal strength with excess weight like you see on a lot of trucks. As someone that's been a hardcore off roading fan for a long time, especially rock crawling & desert racing, it's nice to see a lot more real engineering coming into monster trucks when the scene has traditionally been a little too much "just throw more metal & weld rod at it!"

    • @tomdolton2960
      @tomdolton2960 5 лет назад +1

      The reason why the chassis on monster trucks today are designed this way is to both maximize strength in areas where normally it wood be weak building a monster truck. And racing a monster truck today is much more sophisticated than what it used to be they go much farther faster jump higher and flip faster then they ever did before in the past if you were to triey doing the stunts with monster trucks of the past that todays monster trucks do you would easily destroy The frame and you would suffer greater abuse and severe injuries takes me back to U.S. Hot Rod event with Jim Reese in the ampm Rocket truck landed to the side and literally broke the frame in half also takes me back to Dallas Texas back in 1990 when Marvin Smith in Wild Hair collided into Bennett Clarks Clydesdales and broke the frame in half you can't do that with today's monster trucks it takes a lot more than that to break their frame in half the frame is also designed to take the energy of the impact and disperse it into other parts of the frame where it meets up with the shocks instead of with your back remember monsters don't have suspensions on their seats and even when they did in the past they didn't help match the mor suspensions travel you have the easier it is on you and on the truck you're breaking Les parts the light the truck is the longer it lasts your doing less abused to your equipment so it lasts longer design also minimizes the amount of weakness in the roll cage as well 8 in to 24 in to 28 and future coming soon 35 to almost 45 in of suspension travel technology for monster trucks is advancing and as it continues to advance they will still jump farther higher and go faster setting new records until in the end there can only be one the question now is which one Willie Be?

      From what I heard during the Ford Cenntinel 100 Years celebration back in 2003 I think, Dan Runte whipping up on those back then Clear Channel trucks aka Feld now. I'd love to see some footage of that.

    During the Summit Racing Equipment Facebook interview with Bob and Ann Trent and Dan Runte #22 was mentioned and if it wasn't for this Covid 19 crap that truck would have been in the final stages of the building process, especially since they already have the chassis for it.

    I know that they've started on # 22 and with #10 and #11 being retired and dismantled (don't know why) there's plenty of parts that could be used to built #22 and a #23 if they wanted to.

      I wouldn't say totaled, those trucks were at the Summit Racing Equipment event even though they were damaged. They just weren't able to race those trucks again. Then again, Bigfoot was probably like, why keep these trucks around and together being that they're damaged pretty badly. I would have just retired them and kept them as display trucks at the shop. They do have plenty of parts for 2 new trucks.

      That event was back in 2015 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was probably one of the last times that #'s 10 and 11 were still together before being dismantled.

    Sweet piece! But just wondering in ranking. Which is better 18 or 19?

    • @khaaehi
      @khaaehi 9 лет назад +1

      Curious about that myself. Larry seemed to have 19 dialed in to his driving style but since they're moving him over to 18, I guess they see that as the better truck.

    • @TheNitroPsycho
      @TheNitroPsycho 9 лет назад +3

      hokub29 It was Larrys choice to move into 18

    • @anarchyxf36
      @anarchyxf36 9 лет назад +1

      not shure about larry, but i know dan said before that he absolutely hated 18 when it came to freestyle as he'd end up hurting himself trying to pull off wheelies in it. I remember at bloomsburg during the year when they first debuted 18 he said that he when he tried pulling slap wheelies he was trying to nose the truck into the ground and did so much so to the point he ended up damn near injuring his back.
      But Larry and 19 this past year though looked amazing. Especially in freestyle and racing. Kind of wonder if Larry is jumping to 18 as that's a better racing piece then what 19 is.

    • @TheNitroPsycho
      @TheNitroPsycho 9 лет назад

      anarchyxf36 Its true about Larry, maybe hes thinking the same way I am "give me a racing truck, I will make it freestyle"

    • @anarchyxf36
      @anarchyxf36 9 лет назад +1

      TheNitroPsycho I have my doubts he'd be able to with 18. That chassis was specifically designed to be a thoroughbred racing chassis based off of the design concepts of a baja truck with the way the suspension is and reacts to the terrain. I know dan tried like hell to stiffen up the front end as much as he could to make the front end rebound and ultimately "maxed" it out as far as suspension stiffness was concerned but ultimately the way the suspensions set up on it, it just absorbs anything you throw at it.
      They corrected the front end problem of the suspension being too soft when they created larry's old 19 truck. Which is why larry was able to pull out nice slap wheelies with it time and time again.
      Bottom line though i'm actually happy for dan that he finally has a decent new chassis in which he can finally unleash his full potential in not just racing but also freestyle. I honestly missed his old "Bigfoot15 and 16" freestyle runs.
