Yass. Preventative mental health care is so important if you can swing it! Ty for sharing your breakdown. I live in Canada, and right now, groceries are by far my biggest bill.
I agree: here in Italy groceries have gone up so much 😭 I live just with my two cats and, before Covid, I used to spend (just for my groceries, not including my cats' food) a little more than 40€ per week (170-180 per month) and now and I'm at 75€ per week (320-330€ per month) 😔 My income has stayed exactly the same, so no expensive holiday on the horizon in the next years...
It’s nice to hear another person my age (I’m also 29) not love more intense travel. I love road trips to quiet small towns, but I just don’t have a super huge urge to travel the world constantly. A peaceful walk and a nice cup of tea sounds much more lovely to me.
I think you are a very smart young man. Investing in the housing market is using your money wisely. Housing cost are only going up. Spending your money on what you like and if it makes you happy go for it. Never apologize. It is your money. You earned it. Good video. Thanks
As an adult, you don't owe anyone an explanation of how you spend your funds. I will say, am sure your parents ought to be proud of raising such a responsible young man. I am impressed that you live a fairly healthy lifestyle and have an eye towards the future.😊
Love your videos, you are very authentic and real nothing strange about not wanting to go abroad either. Scotland is such a lovely place I visited there in 2010 and would go back especially the Isle of Skye which I have fond memories. My hubby and I are home bodies and have a property besides our home dwelling which we use for camping and hunting. We love it and it sounds like you enjoy your life too. I too go to a therapist 2x a month and find it so beneficial. Thanks again for your lovely videos they are so calming.😊
I'm with you on the lack of spend on travel! My favourite way to travel to France (or Italy, or wherever takes my fancy) is by reading books written by people who have travelled there / live there, and letting my imagination do the rest. Saves a fortune on plane flights and Diazepam!
Listening to you talk over gentle piano music is very soothing! Also, learning what expenses are for another almost-30yr old home owner in other parts of the world is very interesting... and makes me want to move to Scotland!
All I can say is your doing well and don't give a speck of concern what others may think. Give Junior a scratch behind the ears for me. He is adorable. Continue success George. 👊
I really appreciate you opening up and sharing your spending with us. My parents are older and haven't really taught me anything about finances. I've been floundering around on my own trying to learn what normal people my age typically spend. It's helpful to see someone else's usual budget.
I can totally relate to this, money was always a mystery to me as my parents never taught me about it - we had a comfortable life growing up, money was just always there it seemed. I never understood how to save by myself, until I moved out. I wish I had learned sooner!
You are an inspiration: a very sensible young man with a great sense of humor and clear goals. I'm with you on the travel kick- I prefer to drive to places of natural beauty and vibe as my vacation time. I love the hat you got for Jr. Adorable! All the best to you!
We understand you, there's no need for apologizing. I appreciate and highly respect how you share the details others would hide. I always look forward to your videos because I find them quite relaxing and entertaining. 👍
I've watched this several times and I just felt the need to comment. Never apologize to anyone about your finances. You have worked hard, found income streams by using your ingenuity. You are the most responsible young man that I've seen in a long time. You put yourself out there even though it is not your nature and you work hard. You have a strong family unit that helps. It does not matter if you spend $1,000,000.00 on something..its your money! I love Juniors hat.. Keep on working and making videos and I will keep watching! Congratulations btw on your beautiful properties.
Always happy to hear someone honestly and sincerely be themselves- it’s why we all like you so much. I loved living in Scotland twice (East Neuk of Fife) and frankly can see why you don’t want to leave! ❤
I’m totally with you on traveling. I absolutely hate it. If it wasn’t for my quest to visit the greatest beaches and see some architecture and history along the way, I would never get on a plane. I’ve traveled all over the States, Europe, but somehow missed Canada and your country. If I lived in Scotland I wouldn’t leave it either. Only read about the Lake District, but it sure looks gorgeous on the screen. I always heard Scotland was stunning, but had no idea until the Queen passed away. I watched a live stream of her hearse traveling to Balmoral from London and the Scottish landscape was too breathtaking for words. I had absolutely no idea it was so lush and wild looking. It’s like time stopped there. You can actually see the Highlands from hundreds of years ago still in existence. I like to think if was her last act of generosity even in death. Sharing her beloved Scotland with the world and opening our eyes to its true unadulterated beauty.
You really are a remarkable young chap. Good brain and head well screwed on wise (old) young shoulders. Your openness and candour is very refreshing and admirable. Your videos are most enjoyable and excellent quality. Cheers.
I love your long term life plan. Know yourself and be comfortable in your space. I have learned to hate foreign travel and that wasn't my original intention!
I like you George! Just a note about the many comments about how little you spend on groceries. Its about the same amount I spend here in the US - for me its a game and I get a real kick out of keeping that expense low while still eating a full variety of delicious meals. Thanks for being you - keep it up.
Gosh George I’d love to hear how you make $100 worth of groceries last a month. That’s amazing! Also, you live in a beautiful country rich with history and many gorgeous places to explore, plus the added bonus of no apex predators to worry about in nature! I wouldn’t feel the need to travel much if I lived there either. I used to love traveling and then something happened that left me with (at times) crippling anxiety. It’s very hard to enjoy or even take in new places when your body is in high alert mode. France isn’t going anywhere. If and when you’re ready, France, its baguettes and dizzying repertoire of cheeses will be waiting for you.
Very nice! I like how you're very open and transparent. I really like your personality and sense of humor. And....cowboy hats for cats are truly a necessity, I'm on your side for that. You don't have to make excuses for how and what you spend "your" money, it' your money, do as you damn well please. I love your videos and glad I found them. TY
Being somewhere that feels like home, including nature, and having no desire to travel spells contentment. I have had what most people tell me is the amazing chance to travel anywhere in the world over the past 4 months, and all I want is basically what you have. I just haven't found the place where I feel home yet, so I continue my search. It isn't just you. Flying freaks most people out, but they don't have consciousness of it. People who are sensitive (me... and you?) are the ones who end up empathing the subconscious freak-out of the plane-full and having a miserable flight. Over time, I have learned how to stay more in my own frequency bubble, but I still feel the ick of every flight I am on. You are super normal to me in every way, and if you don't want or need to travel, I say don't without apology!
@@platinpalladium no, we pay council tax and you use what you need. We rarely have limits in place. Maybe around the summer we might be asked to go easy on watering the grass but usage isn’t monitored by household. Our water authority is publicly owned.
In general Scotland has more water than it can use, I have never heard of a hosepipe ban but then it rains quite a bit so in reality you don't need to use a hosepipe. your water bill is linked to council tax band so the larger the house the larger the water bill section, because we are not on mains drainage we get a 25% discount on water part of bill
Loved this video and I can't wait to see more of the new house renovation. I love the skylights you had installed because it brightens up the whole space, making more beautiful and more livable.
The holidays I enjoy are the ones where I don’t have to do any planning. All I do is pack my clothes and show up at the airport. I’m fortunate that my son does all the planning and I just show up and enjoy. When I had to plan my vacation holidays it was stressful. I UNDERSTAND YOUR PAIN
Thanks for the insight George. Nothing embarrassing about preferring the quieter breaks. City breaks aren’t always all they’ve cracked up to be if you aren’t into partying, which I’m not anymore. I’m from Essex and my wife and I now love country breaks and the Scottish highlands and isles are definitely up there on our list.
Sounds like a great life. With you have the beauty and wonder of Scotland to cycle, walk, explore, and photograph when would someone have time to do much else? Love Juniors hats, my cat Pony tips his to you.🐈⬛🤠

I cannot understand why anyone would find it controversial or be angry that you don't like traveling, and I love to travel--like I really LOVE traveling. Why can't people just live and let live.

You are a joy, and I'm so glad I found you on youtube. You make me smile every video. THX!!!😎
I love your sense of humor. Hits you when you least expect it too 😄
Your videos are so peaceful. I'd watch you describe paint drying!!
Seriously, there is no need to constantly apologize, you've earnt it. Its not making anyone feel bad, its aspirational.
Good video. Thanks
I like the way you live George, all of it. Best wishes from Ireland to you and Junior.
Please don't worry about what other people think. You seem a kind, authentic and unpretentious person. I should think your parents are very proud 😊
I'm with you on the lack of spend on travel! My favourite way to travel to France (or Italy, or wherever takes my fancy) is by reading books written by people who have travelled there / live there, and letting my imagination do the rest. Saves a fortune on plane flights and Diazepam!
Everything you share is so genuine and valuable.. please keep on being you ❤
Listening to you talk over gentle piano music is very soothing!
I always enjoy listening to you speak. Your humor always makes an appearance and your delivery is wise & well thought out. Yeehah for Junior's hat🤠
Absolutely no apologies needed! Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
New subscriber here. Man, I love your videos. And your humour!!! Bravo 🙌
Thanks Laura! :)
You keep doing you George! You're a beautiful human and the world needs more people like you.
Always happy to hear someone honestly and sincerely be themselves- it’s why we all like you so much. I loved living in Scotland twice (East Neuk of Fife) and frankly can see why you don’t want to leave! ❤
Agree with you re flying and going abroad. The British Isles have all you need, enjoy it and cut the stress.
Therapy.. right with you there man... good for you.. Love your openness and your channel
I wish you every success.
TY
Please don’t apologize! It’s your money and your life.
You just kept doing what works for you George, don't worry about the haters judging your life choices. Good vid keep it up.
I love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I think you're living your best life, George. 🙂 Do more of what makes you happy.
Your holidays sound lovely! Much more relaxing than most.
Hi George, I didn't realise that Council Tax in Scotland includes the water bill! Amazing value compared to England, it's a separate bill.
Aw I know... we're blessed! Our water tastes a bit better as well in my experience... sorry haha!
So you don't need water counters as it's just on a flat rate? 😮
I'm moving to Scotland@@Patchy
Tomfoolery is my favorite line item. 😂
It's an important one.
Discovered your channel a few weeks ago and it's the most relaxing thing ever. So interesting and stressfree. Thanks a lot for your videos!
Such a pleasure to watch. Very clam vibe. Junior looks adorable with the new hat 🎩
Thank you for sharing and good for you sharing your therapy because it’s good for everyone 😊. I always tell my kids to b smart with your money.
Thanks for the insight George. Nothing embarrassing about preferring the quieter breaks. City breaks aren’t always all they’ve cracked up to be if you aren’t into partying, which I’m not anymore. I’m from Essex and my wife and I now love country breaks and the Scottish highlands and isles are definitely up there on our list.
love your honesty, you're also very talented at making videos
Sounds like a great life. With you have the beauty and wonder of Scotland to cycle, walk, explore, and photograph when would someone have time to do much else?
Love Juniors hats, my cat Pony tips his to you.🐈⬛🤠
Brilliant George! I'm also a home lover and not much of a traveler. I have been abroad but always look forward to getting back home and enjoying the beaches and coutryside around me. Best wishes for your future endeavours 😃😃
I cannot understand why anyone would find it controversial or be angry that you don't like traveling, and I love to travel--like I really LOVE traveling. Why can't people just live and let live.
An interesting video George. Always good to know what a monthly expenditure is. I tend to feel the same about holidays....it can be too much of a hassle to fly these days. I love the indifference shown by Junior (walking in front of your camera!) to us lesser humans lol 🙂
loved this. instant subscribe. also the vacation part i relate very much!
What a great channel to learn things while improving my English keep the good work buddy!
How inspiring. I love the way your spending reflects your calm approach to life xx
Awesome! I know what you mean about the holidays; it always sounds like a good idea, but usually I’d just rather be at home.
Big hugs to you. I, too, suffer from anxiety and am happiest when I’m alone. Your videos are soothing and I’m amazed at how much you’ve accomplished. ❤
