The very first gun I bought 10 years ago was an 870 express! It has been absolutely bulletproof! Shot hundreds of ducks and geese with it! I've only had 1 jam, but too much straw got into the action from the blind! I've just purchased some upgrades to make it last forever
Awesome... I have a regular 870 Express I got for $175 while working for the ROC when they started to go under. I want to make it bomb proof like yours... I even have an older doner gun with a metal trigger group I want to use, and the older fore-end.
Even though I don’t shoot a lot of 12ga, I just love 870’s. I think they’re better than Mossberg 500’s by far. But Remington definitely cheaper out on the extractor! You can buy the wingmaster extractor to replace mim extractor in express models. The wingmaster extractors is machined from on piece.
@@James.1881 I am not sure if they are available by the company that bought Remington arms now know as Rem Arms. I would try numrich gun parts or just by the volquartsen extractor that I bought. It’s a little pricey but will absolutely outlast the gun.
Thanks for the video!! Sear springs can be found for light, medium and heavy trigger pull. No need to buy a completely new system at a much higher price. The extractor made for the police and wingmaster versions is availble in many places, including used. IMO used is fine since they last forever...and you have the MIM for a backup.
I did see a bunch of different sear spring options, but this wear has an improved break which is nice. If I had to do it again, I may just go with a spring option instead of a kit. Thanks for watching.
@@avidwaterfowler7522 I have never had an issue with either of my 870's on trigger pull. I have all 3 that Remington offers....the police, standard, and trap. Police when it's set up in home defense, standard or trap for bird hunting, standard for all other needs.
This gun is a Supermag. I have patterned 3” versus 3.5” shells time and time again. It’s quite common that the 3” shells pattern equivalent or better. There are also benefits such as less recoil especially since it’s a pump gun and cheaper ammo. I always prefer 3.5” chambered guns because I don’t want to be limited incase of emergency.
@@mozilla2576 if you look at side of the barrel, it says 2 3/4” and 3” shells, 3.5” with super mag receiver only. The barrel is not the limiting factor here. All newish 870 barrel can shoot 3.5.
try TSS 3.5 inch 2.5 oz 8.5 shot count in that shell is 775 58 yrs. of turkey huntin that is by far one of the best shell for turkeys i have ever used look up the ballastics of tss loads they ain't cheap though
Well, it is an 870 express… Not to mention it was made toward the end of Remington before run they went bankrupt. It also only has a couple hundred rounds through it. It’ll smooth up over time.

They are hard to beat. Some of the upgrades I did to mine will make it as reliable as the day is long.

Where can you buy the wing master extractor?

@@mozilla2576 no doubt they are great guns. Even through I have better guns, my collection will always have at least one.
why not 3 1/2 shells? I just got a super mag

Racking your long gun, it sounds like the action is full of sand!
