It’s a sub $500 shotgun, what did you expect honestly? Does it function properly? The polymer trigger guard is actually more durable than the old metal ones .
As a gun guy I can't understand another gun guy purchasing something with so many "flaws" that repulses them. Why buy polymer if you want wood? Everyone knows what each company offers at each price point, and the internet allows you to research.... Kinda sounds silly to have so many complaints when you buy the entry level model.

Completely agree with your review and it hurts my feelings. My father has a Remington 150th anniversary 870 that my mother got him new on their anniversary many years ago. It is truly drool worthy. Gorgeous high polish blue, beautifully figured walnut, two barrels, all in a custom soft case. I really hope Remington can get back to quality.
Hey Tom as a Remington Fanboy myself. I have come to find out that Remington is making complete garbage for the last few years. I have not bought a Remington shotgun rifle in over 15 years.. keep in mind I own over 20 different variants of Remington Products. I will never buy another
Any gun made by Freedom Arms are junk! Used to love Remington. My last Remington I bought was a 7600 back in 1999. To bad they used to de quality there once upon a time.
Luckily the two 870s one an express mag one super mag and an 1187 super mag they were made before they went to crap. I've abused them and still done great with them
Is it possible that you got a Freedom Group production? The newer Roundhill Group production seems to have better quality. But the reviews I have seen where about the Field Master and Wing Master not this model.
I have many 870 Wingmaster shotguns from 12 ga to 410 ga and all of them were built before 1990 back when Remington cared about the guns that they built.
I have qn 870 I bought in the early 80's. I gave 275 for it. It has been a great gun. I've heard newer ones went downhill. Looks like they went off a cliff
Buy an old one, the older the better. My 1950s era 16 gauge 870 wingmaster has literally had thousands of rounds put through it, still going strong, the action is smooth as butter.
From looking at that particular model that doesn’t look like a new REM Arms production, that appears to be a freedom group production shotgun, rem arms discontinued the express line and from what I can tell is test firing it’s guns and doing more polishing using better forged/billet parts instead of mim, plus they’re now drilled and taped.
Wow, I just went into my safe and hugged my Ithaca that I bought when I was 17, in 1978. My first and it is beautiful, the feather weight. That looks like a POS . Ok for a woods or yard knock around
I read an article where after their bankruptcy. Remington said they would be building a cheaper version of guns. I wouldn't be surprised if the parts come from China. People in the comments were saying don't buy an 870 made after 2019 because it won't be what your use to or expecting. Mossberg is getting the same way. I own a 1983 Mossberg 500 and a 1989 Maverick 88 both have smooth action and are built like tanks. I bought another Maverick 88 in 2020 and it was a piece of crap! Built nothing like its 1989 brother. I also bought a Mossberg 590 and it is heavy as hell with gritty action. I'm going to start looking for older model shotguns! When they were built with pride.
Starting with the “Express” line of 870’s final milling was excluded. They can be slicked up by smoothing out the rough cut marks inside the receiver & by slightly filing the rough edges of the action bars. The hammers, made differently than the older models can be ground & polished to take the grab out of the cocking /ejecting operation. Basically the new models are not finished as well as the older models.
That’s what happens when factory hires more managers than laborers, and every manager trying to show his importance instead of support the process. IMHO
You have a fantastic point! And every worker wants to be the manager ..smh... And they all want to let the computers do the work and the cnc machines.👍🦃👊
Well thanks for the info. You just saved me from making a $400.00 mistake. I was about to buy a slightly used one but gonna pass now. Thanks for putting the time in.
I bought an old 870 wingmaster made in 1958 fired a lot, smooth as butter and still solid as the day it was made, despite some bluing wear and the wood needing some attention, still a serviceable shotgun, the quality has really gone off a cliff with remington and its sad to see, also for some reason they stopped selling 870 parts to the public
To be fair, polymer makes a lot of sense for waterfowl hunters. I just grabbed the exact same scattergun but mine came with 3 chokes, checkering, and a sling swivel on the mag tube cap. I was happy with what I got for the price and my intended use (dragging through the woods and dropping birds)
There seems to be a race to the bottom with pump guns. Haven't seen the new Fieldmasters or Wingmasters, but the older Wingmaster shotguns are where it's at if you ask me. Then again, I don't need a 3.5" chamber so the 3" magnum I have does everything I need. Did you test fire the Chinese knock off?
When i bought my 870 2 years ago the forearm was loose, the factory didn’t fasten the nut properly. But i struggle with shells for shooting clays the jams it like hell and need to use alot of power to pump it. Rarely with bird shells.
Pretty sure you have picked up a old stock 870 the new ones come with three chokes and wood and I don't believe there even producing supermags at the moment the new field masters are pretty nice guns
I bought a Remlin 1895 although it wasn't built very pretty it is super accurate. I'm glad I bought it used and probably wouldn't have paid full price for it.
I agree quite disappointing. I have one of these. I bought it when it was first offered its steel (cast metal parts) and wood. I removed the wood and replaced it with a set if Bell & Carlson synthetic Bottomland camo. I have taken geese and turkeys. ONLY MISTAKE I made buying it was I traded a Ithaca 51 10ga semi to buy it... But mine runs perfect Im glad I have it. I am a 870 fan must have 7/8 of them in all gauges and different variants
My old butt pad is made by Goodyear, does that mean my 870 ESM is th old style? It still has wood checkered furniture but the trigger guard is still composite... Could I drop a Wingmaster group and gaurd in?
@@theturkeysopinion I have not seen any of the new Rem Arms guns with synthetic stocks, only walnut. I know that there are some new guns assembled with parts stock when Rem Arms took over
@@gimp6019 I think its an old Freedoms Group version not a new from Roundhill Group. There are several comments with the same suspicion. But it looks like he just give a fuck.
Is this one of the ones that made of old parts, or the one with the parts that they are making now. A year ago they release all the parts that they jad in the warehouse.... still a bad situation tho
That is disappointing, Remington recently got bought out by Marlin right. I've got an older 870 that is a work horse, but next pump will be a Mossberg 500
Roundhill Group LLC purchased Remington Arms Vista Outdoors brought Remington Ammo. Roundhill is an investment group that probably never pick up a gun. Vista is an ammo company that own several major brands.
Thanks for taking one for the team! That thin barrel scares me most, as does the cheap toy plastic. I'll stick with my 1973 1100 and my Winchester Super X2.
I was gifted a Remington Model 870 Wingmaster with only one barrel which is vent rib with front post sight, no rear sights, and modified choked barrel, back when I was a very young adult. The double slides make it strong (I've seen pump shotguns with the single slide rail failing and breaking) and I never once had a problem with the shotgun I own. Yet I am sure that I would not buy a new plastic model. Oh, I own a savage 7MM-08 with a seemingly better, but still, plastic stock. A Remington 870 tears down quickly and easily for thorough cleanings. My bottom line is I'll happily keep the old one and pass on the new one.
I picked up an 870 Supermag turkey about 6 years ago. It kills turkeys but I definitely don'y love it. I bought a 16 gauge 870 Wingmaster from a local shop for $180. It had been improperly stored and had bad receiver pitting. But action and everything else was flawless. I sandblasted and blued the reciever and use it as a squirrel/rabbit/upland gun. I also have a 1941 WInchester Model 12 in 16 and a Remingtom Model 31 in 20 gauge. Those guns have more quality and character than the new 870 by a mile.
So I got the 870 Super Mag basic model as well recently for just under $550 from my local arms dealer and it came with 3 chokes full improved and modified as well and the choke wrench. I agree with you 100% on the stock quality being sun part but they have improved the trigger assembly it is very smooth when I cycle rounds and is a great waterfowl option but yeah long term durability’s not as good as my 91 870 magnum
I bought one about 7 yrs. ago. Evidently, a lot has changed. Mine came camouflaged from one end to the other. It has the honeycombed butt pad, polymer stock but the stock seems to be heavier than the one portrayed here. The trigger guard is metal. Basically, mine seems to be better built, even though it's not as well built as my 870 that I got back in 76. I bought mine used for $350 and added an extra full coyote choke tube. With #4 buckshot, it's quite effective at 50+ yds. and using regular #4 shot, it does a job on turkeys. Here's my suggestion and it applies to ALL firearms. NEVER buy any firearm until you have a chance to inspect it in your hands. That way you can nit pick before laying down the cash. BTW, of course the barrel would look thin once you remove the choke tube. The choke tube would add thickness to the barrel once it's installed.
Thank you for preventing me from buying a Remington. I've had several 10 years ago and they were used shotguns. Sold all off years ago. Time for a new 1 This isn't it. Much appreciated sir
I have an OLD Rem 870 2 3/4" only, fixed choke barrels, 26" Mod Vent rib, Skeet Vent rib and slug. Fine polished and Blued metal. Fine wood and finish! It centers the patterns slightly high, ideal for rising game and skeet. Slug barrel likes Win slugs. This gun FITS, WORKS, and has put Much game on my table! About 10 years ago, I bot my son a 3" 870 for Christmas... Quality WAY! Down!! Jams often with double feeds... now THIS!!! Y.U.K.!!! Jerry
I got a 870 fieldmaster and it’s good, walnut stock, good checkering came with 3 chokes,is drilled and tapped and with a quality butt stock pad,but the only thing I don’t like is the rough plastic trigger guard
The 3.5 shotgun is way overkill with today's newer shells and chokes especially for turkey hunting .... just a waste of a lot of shot and no need for the recoil and weight of that shotgun .. IMO
Clean it up and shoot it before you replace the stock. Make sure it works. The last two Remington 870 Express shotguns I bought from Walmart didn't eject reliably. They were releasing rounds from the magazine before they ejected the fired case from the chamber. So sad. Remington was once a great company.
A lot of guns are coming setup for single point slings, my rossi gallery gun did so I put a zip tie through the pump handle and hooked my sling to that lol
What happened to the good old days? Do gun people even make guns anymore? Or does Remington hire them straight out of the college of Call of Duty? Good solution though!🦃👍👊
Luckily I have an older model that came with wooden furniture, swapped those out for some camo furniture with a nice matching sling. Badass shotgun, definitely going to do a tube extension and a side saddle as the final upgrades. I would still never buy any generic shotgun brands like the Chinese knockoff. To me the furniture might not be perfect, but the guts of the gun are completely fine. It seems like you maybe should’ve done some research before purchasing this shotgun if you really don’t like it that much. Not saying the quality control isn’t worse because it is. But it seems like an easily avoidable purchase. Happy shooting brother!
Ive got a super mag with laminated stock, that I bought mabe 8 years ago, other than receiver rusting if someone says moisture, its been flawless, terrible but pad, really digs into my shoulder, just got a browning bps, what a nice smooth gun.
I’ve got an h&r Pardner pump in 12 gauge and it’s such a nice shotgun. Smooth as butter, built like a tank, and looks great too. Maverick 88’s cost more and they feel like a toy to me in a way. Great guns, but way too plastic feeling and “loose” for my liking.
They don't warrant newly made Remingtons or previously made Remingtons. I paid for a versa max barrel that was back ordered and when they went under I lost my money and got no barrel. New company told me tuff shit. I've made it a point to let everyone know and comment on every video their channel puts up. They bought the name and want the legacy put not the commitment.
I got a Remington 870 Tactical Express a few years ago (just before the bankruptcy). I too didn't like the cheap polymer furniture so I replaced it with Magpul (both stock, forend and barrel clamp). The MIM extractor I believe was the cause of occasional failure to extract issues so I swapped it with a Volquartsen replacement that is machined and that has fixed the shell extraction issues. I swapped the cheap plastic follower with a red aluminum hi-vis replacement. The finish is notoriously cheap and prone to enabling rust so I had it Cerakote coated. I got the 870 as my first shotgun on pure name recognition but I had no idea at the time how much the brand had declined. With all the fixes and modifications I've done, it works great now but that I had to spend a few hundred bucks to get it to that point is kind of a downer. I've since gotten a Mossberg 590A1 and it's definitely my go-to for home defense. It's the 18.5" (6+1 capacity) version and has a simple bead sight. I swapped out the furniture with Magpul on that one as well just out of preference for the ergonomics plus a sling and Surefire light. Yeah, the receiver is aluminum but the bolt and barrel lockup is steel on steel. The trigger guard is metal on the A1 version though the standard 500/590 has polymer for that part. Also, in terms of the best traits for a bird hunting shotgun, what are the benefits of a heavier wood stock over a lighter and easier to carry polymer stock? Are there recoil mitigation benefits? Does a more solid stock mount to your shoulder better?
Excellent review. It’s sad that Remington is not what it use to be. I guess finding parts is going to be difficult for the older ones. I called Winchester about a 1300 and they were rude and said they don’t have parts for them anymore. I guess I will go with mossberg since that’s what I can afford and customer service is stellar. I miss that wood and craftsmanship of old.
Yea brother, better off seeking out an old used 870 or a new 590A1 if you don't already have em. I know what you mean about the 3 1/2 shells. Mossberg 935 mag takes em
I hope Remington sees this, I agree with everything you are saying … the wood stock 870 I got in 2006 just feels way better than the one I got in 2015 that is plastic (polymer, excuse me lol)
That made me sad. I got lucky, i guess. I got mine at the height of covid for 600-ish, but the stock and the forend are wood. The trigger guard is some sort of metal. it's not plastic/polymer. I love mine. I havent shot a 3" and 3 1/2" yet. But that day will come...someday
You just highlighted the reason why I covet my old shotguns. When I take them out people who know they know. I love to have people shoot them that have only shot very modern recent purchases. I'll hand them one of my old brownies or one of my old ithaca's. It is priceless to watch the look on their face when they hand them back and realize what a weapon should do. That dog is not ready to hunt sir. I have a sneaking suspicion it will be though. And when you said three and a half I just got up ear grin on my face. I am well aware of the WTF that's going to happen can't wait.
Yuppers. Keep those works of art! They are going away. Many less at the shows and flea markets nowadays. Ill get this one good to go soon . 😉 the best it can be i guess. And man, my old single shots are 10 x nicer than these things now. 👍🦃👊
I have an 870 super express magnum why wife bought me 25 yrs ago . beautiful gun deep shiny blueing and a gorgeous wood stock . Don't shoot it much anymore I am to damn old and with 3 1/2 " magnum shells it kicks hard . Love the shotgun
1963 wingmaster purchased new I was15 years old . I still have it . I paid $89.00 for it. paper route money. It was awesome then, and it still functions perfectly today. Just broken in. Newer firearms are just not the same, higher prices, less quality across the board. buyer beware.
Yep, that just seems a little more that just trying to shave some cost... there is quite a difference in cost savings & companies producing crap! I use the older Mossberg 835, Wood & Steel! You can get them cheap & parts are everywhere ( ebay & gun broker) ...
My brother owns an old one and it’s a great weapon. I went with with the Pardner version of it in 12ga. $100 buy. Truly, I’m a 20 gauge guy with many of them. The Pardner, I have beaten the living sh.t out of it and has never failed. It’s truly a shame they gotten so corporate that quality = how cheap can we make a gun. They should have sold it back to Kevin at Q when they had the chance.
I just purchased an 870 super mag a few days ago. Looked up videos and stumbled across this. You should go look at the new ones I think Remington saw this video.
This video just increased the value of my 70s era Wingmaster exponentially! I don't know what the answer is to this kind of crap in the firearms industry but this is one consumer that won't being dropping any of my money on a Remington product. Wish I still had my old Remington rifles.
I purchased one of those three and a half 870s back in the 90s the gun is a tank I've lived it out to many of people for deer drives it just keeps running shoot buckshot extremely well I was killed a buck at 100 yards the 00 Winchester buckshot bunch of guys watch me do it and they could not believe it
I have an 870 super mag in all real tree camo , it’s around 20 years old and has never been fired , interchangeable choke tubes , real rubber butt stock pad , vented rib barrel , never have had a need to shoot it , bought it for my collection , probably one of the last good ones from what I’m hearing and seeing
I have totally given up on Remington these days after being a loal 870 fan since the early seventies. Last year I purchased a 1981 manufactured 12 ga 870 from a friend that appears to have never been fired and is in 100% condition. These are the ones I go for. I now own two, a 1974 Ducks Unlimited model that I purchased in 1975 and the forementioned 1981. These guns will not only last the rest of my life but most likely my Grandson will enjoy them though out his life as well. I also have a 1100 synthetic manufactured in 1995 that is a very well built gun even though I prefer the wood furniture. Theses guns were made during some of the last great decades of Remington.
@@theturkeysopinion Unfortunately you are correct. I spent 39 years working in Quality Assurance for a popular Aerospace Company so I know a little about good quality and America sadly has put it aside. This will not end well.

You can still get the shiny blue finish. But you must order the gun. Few dealers stock the Wingmaster finish 870s. What you bought was the "Sportsman" finish 870. Get dealer to order a "Wingmaster" for you. To get an 870 with forty years past finish would double the price. I have several with the new type finish---they work just fine.
@@theturkeysopinion It might be just my imagination---but the older ones seem to "slick up" faster than the new ones. I've never shot a Wingmaster that wasn't "slick as crap" when you pump it!!
Now my late 80's 870 Magnum Special Purpose 3 inch chamber 12 gauge Green Tree Camo was when Dupont came on the scene and I guess was part owner of Remington or was just contracted to do their fiberglass/early polymer stocks and forearms and mine is made solid and actually has hand styled checkering as like the old school wood counterparts wood furniture has and yes came standard with the sling swivel attachments front and back including a real nice sling as well with 3 interchangeable choke tubes and in other woods you got more for your money back then as opposed to today's standards !!!

RemArms is owned by Roundhill Group since 2020. Some say the quality is now better.
The barrel is thin at the muzzle because the choke needs that room to fit and fills in what's missing, it's not the whole barrel that is thin.
Good info! Thanks!🦃👍👊
Express models are crap. Chambers are so rough that fired hulls will not extract.
That’s what happens when factory hires more managers than laborers, and every manager trying to show his importance instead of support the process. IMHO
You have a fantastic point!
And every worker wants to be the manager ..smh...
And they all want to let the computers do the work and the cnc machines.👍🦃👊
This is what happens when you try to make a shotgun that looks more "trendy"versus purely "functional" as cheaply as possible.
Looks like Remington will be heading to bankruptcy again
Lol. It's part of the routine 🤣👍👊🦃
I just subbed......I like you attitude !!! Wood & steel, Metoo !!! I'd like to see you evaluate the New Wingmaster !!!
I bought the Mossberg 3 1/2 when it came out for turkey and goose. It works very well. It does kill on both ends.
Lol. Thats funny. I love the abuse!👍🦃👊
Your still young. Old farts like me just can't do if anymore. I gave that gun to my grandson. I get my turkey at the grocery store now.
Mossberg over Remington any day. 835 overbore is not for the faint of heart.
Pretty sure you have picked up a old stock 870 the new ones come with three chokes and wood and I don't believe there even producing supermags at the moment the new field masters are pretty nice guns
Hmm🤔
Just got a field master it is amazing love to see Remington getting it together.
Those but pads are pretty resilient. Makes shooting a magnum, especially light weight one, tolerable
My old butt pad is made by Goodyear, does that mean my 870 ESM is th old style? It still has wood checkered furniture but the trigger guard is still composite...
Could I drop a Wingmaster group and gaurd in?
I love my 1976 - 12 Gauge 870 Remington Wingmaster. Different time different function needs as there is steel shot. Miss the good old days!
Was that an old stock Remington or a new Rem Arms gun?
New...😕☹️😭 i cant believe the drasic difference👍🦃👊
Ruger bought Marlin.
It really sucks. Its never gonna come back!👍👊🦃
Roundhill Group LLC purchased Remington Arms
Vista Outdoors brought Remington Ammo.
Roundhill is an investment group that probably never pick up a gun.
Vista is an ammo company that own several major brands.
Thanks for taking one for the team! That thin barrel scares me most, as does the cheap toy plastic. I'll stick with my 1973 1100 and my Winchester Super X2.
Glad to help! Yup stick with the good old boy.👍👊🦃
Just purchased one at the fin 2 weeks ago 12 gauge 28 walnut I love it
My 870 express came with a walnut stock. Checkered and beautiful!
Has not been the same since the Wingmaster.
Got one of these in 1999 for my 18th birthday. And its quality is a lot better than the ones made 10 years later and beyond.
Nice!👍👊🦃
You Throw me off when you've called it a mossberg!
How much did you pay for the Boyd's stock if you don't mind me asking 🤔
Wow just wow.
The boyds was like 180 i think. Its a laminate camo. Pretty sweet. Now i gotta get to work switching it out👍👊🦃
I'm looking forward to your next video, I like Boyds stocks.
Thank you for preventing me from buying a Remington. I've had several 10 years ago and they were used shotguns. Sold all off years ago. Time for a new 1
This isn't it. Much appreciated sir
I wish Winchester would bring back the model 1200 tactical model. It was fantastic.
How'd you train that spider to co e out at about 8:20?
Lol, my pet ran away! He was upset about the shotgun too👊🦃👍
A lot of guns are coming setup for single point slings, my rossi gallery gun did so I put a zip tie through the pump handle and hooked my sling to that lol
I love the H&rs. I never appreciated how nice they were until seeing this new crap👊🦃👍
I got the Remington field master with the walnut wood and it’s very nice
Remington has lost so much business from lack of quality and lack of fit and finish and thin parts what junk
What broke or wore out on a Win. 1300 ... ?
@@rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594 just needed a plug for quail season, wanted factory but went to ace and got a wooden dowel
Just can't beat a budget Maverick 88
That made me sad. I got lucky, i guess. I got mine at the height of covid for 600-ish, but the stock and the forend are wood. The trigger guard is some sort of metal. it's not plastic/polymer. I love mine. I havent shot a 3" and 3 1/2" yet. But that day will come...someday
Good stuff!
Thanks for watching it!👊👍🦃
You just highlighted the reason why I covet my old shotguns.
👍🦃👊
I stumbled across the H&Rs a few years ago, I now have 3. Heavy, but built like a tank.
I have an 870 super express magnum why wife bought me 25 yrs ago . beautiful gun deep shiny blueing and a gorgeous wood stock . Don't shoot it much anymore I am to damn old and with 3 1/2 " magnum shells it kicks hard . Love the shotgun
It must be a nice one!👍🦃👊
Cant beat the pardners. It's pathetic what has happened to Rem and some other companies 🦃👊👍
I just purchased an 870 super mag a few days ago. Looked up videos and stumbled across this. You should go look at the new ones I think Remington saw this video.
Nice! Congratulations. I will check them out. I'm sure one of my local shops has a newer one. Thanks for watching!👊🦃👍
This video just increased the value of my 70s era Wingmaster exponentially! I don't know what the answer is to this kind of crap in the firearms industry but this is one consumer that won't being dropping any of my money on a Remington product. Wish I still had my old Remington rifles.
Great comment and total truth. 👊🦃👍
That would be awesome to own. I wonder what that would fetch on today's market🤔🦃👍👊
And we will never go back to this type of manufacturing again sadly... Glad you got some good ones! Enjoy them!🦃👍👊
@@theturkeysopinion Unfortunately you are correct. I spent 39 years working in Quality Assurance for a popular Aerospace Company so I know a little about good quality and America sadly has put it aside. This will not end well.
The field master 870 coms in wood and has 3 chokes modified full and improved cylinder.
you did'nt talk about the thickness of the barrel on the chinese one compared to Remington or if the chinese one came with more chokes than Remington.
When you were talking about the gun not being drilled and trapped for optics you called the Remington, " a 500 dollar mossberg " I know it was just a slip but as a mossberg owner it made me cringe. Great video showing how much Remington has fallen off the rails.
Pick up a Remington 870 Wingmaster manufactured from the 50s into the 70s.Take in the deep bluing, walnut stock and for end and then work the action. Heaven.
Yessir...classic. Too bad its all gone. Gotta get spendy for an old one now🦃👍👊
I recently got a Remarms 870 fieldmaster supermag & it was garbage...the wood stock wasn't finished...it wasn't flush to the receiver..it was 1/4 inch thicker all the way around...I called Remarms and sent pictures...they responded with its within spec...I immediatly sold it to the gunshop taking a $200 loss...I ended up buying an old 870 and got it cerakoted bought all new springs and parts...I got a NEW/OLD 870
I have a field master and it has been pretty good I have put 500 rounds through it and it worked good. The only problem it has trouble ejecting floucci shells federal and Winchester and Remington works good.
Hmm. I wonder whats up with that?🦃👊👍
U need to check out or get a benelli supernova 3.5 inch 12 guage they are great quality and can find them for around 400 new and used real similar to a benelli m4 but a pump action jusr might need to choose the right stock for it when u want to shoot full power 3.5 inch shells
I just went and checked them out on your advice. Now I'm going to probably have to spend more money darn it.... They do look pretty cool and unfortunately I passed one up at a store last year without even touching it. I remember the guy offering to show it to me and I just shrugged it off. I should have paid more attention... Thanks for the comment! You might see that gun in a video soon👍👊🦃
@@theturkeysopinion I got one passed down to me from a family member after they passed and i love the gun and I'm bot a big shotgun guy and it was my first time getting into my own 12guage and the 3.5 inch shells they kick no matter how big a person is everyone i show it to friend and such always want to shoot it because most people have never shot a 3.5 inch 12 guage and they love it lol I jist wished they were slugs to buy i looked for some and could only find rifled 12 guage 3.5 inch slugs and they have a muzzle energy of over 5000 footlbs of energy which is around double a 45 70
Buyer be ware, if you bought this shotgun after checking it out. It’s like walking outside in the rain and bitching about getting wet. If you looked at this gun before you bought it and bought it anyways well that’s just crazy as hell in my opinion.
I bought it online.... I had no idea that it had degraded to this point.
So I'm putting it here on RUclips to do the research for all of you. It's horrible what has happened to some gun companies.👍🦃👊
That thin barrel is the same as any with choke tubes.
I haven’t been a fan of Remington 870s since the 80s.
I can see why👍👊🦃
@@theturkeysopinion they used to be made with stainless carrier and bolt. Looked really good and cleaned up really easily. I try to buy up good looking pre 80 wingmasters when im out and about. Over the years I’ve bought a bunch and traded a bunch.
For a 3 1/2” magnum I’ll stick to the Benelli Super Nova…I used to be an 870 fan…my favorite is still my old 870 Wingmaster LW 20 gauge magnum, bought before Remchokes…to change chokes, you change barrels (I have the three…IC, M and F)…yep the “checkering” is the pressed in type that is the typical old school Remington…pressed into the lightweight mahogany stock, but the fit, finish and quality is still old style Remington. It pains me to see once iconic companies spiral downward after being bought out by “holding companies” who have zero interest in the product and its history…I hope Remington as well as Marlin will be able to regain the quality of their past…keep up the good, unbiased and informative videos 🤘🤘🤘
Good info. Thank you!👍🦃👊
@@theturkeysopinion It might be just my imagination---but the older ones seem to "slick up" faster than the new ones. I've never shot a Wingmaster that wasn't "slick as crap" when you pump it!!
Too much negatives is a positive. Paid by competitors? I love my Remington Steel !
U should check the 870 Fieldmaster. now THAT is what an 870 is supposed to feel like!
They are nice. Just messed with one the other day👊🦃👍
Bloke u r stuck in 50 s today tech lightweight highgrade
Now my late 80's 870 Magnum Special Purpose 3 inch chamber 12 gauge Green Tree Camo was when Dupont came on the scene and I guess was part owner of Remington or was just contracted to do their fiberglass/early polymer stocks and forearms and mine is made solid and actually has hand styled checkering as like the old school wood counterparts wood furniture has and yes came standard with the sling swivel attachments front and back including a real nice sling as well with 3 interchangeable choke tubes and in other woods you got more for your money back then as opposed to today's standards !!!
Great comment! This is exactly what I'm talking about.. I just don't understand it.. If you need to charge a little bit more money fine but give us a nice product.. Everything is throwaway nowadays.
👍👊🦃
I have a 1951 Remington 870 TC trap. Great trigger beautiful gun action smooth as glass. They don’t make them like they used to. Those soft butt pads are much better to reduce recoil. The thin barrels make the gun much more balanced. Mossberg makes a full camo 935 3 1/2 inch with a 10 gauge barrel .773 diameter for $600. Very soft recoil
I have a Remington SP10 semi-auto 10 gauge with a 23" barrel that will knock you on your A$$.
My Browning BP10 pump shotgun doesn't do that. !
The field master is super nice with the walnut wood! Wayyyy better than that one for sure
I bought a Versa max about 15 years ago the charging handle flew off on a duck hunt, fore end loosened all the time extractor broke 2x I fixed everything and it’s a great gun now after I fixed it I contacted Remington and they were rude and not real helpful I stay away from Remington by the way the gun cost 1500.00 I shouldn’t have to be the one to fix it.
Wow...thst sucks bigtime. Geez. Sorry to hear that bro🦃👊👍
