  • Join us as we visit an old PIRATE City in Salé MOROCCO with a special guest in this Travel Vlog! Salé is a sister city to Rabat and just across the river, so it was an easy and logical place for us to visit during our time in Morocco!
We're also really happy that our friend, Middle Aged Runaway himself, was able to join us on this adventure. Watch his video of the experience coming soon! And check out his RUclips channel if you haven't already: / @middleagedrunaway
Salé was once home to the Salé Rovers, a group of pirates that settled in this area in the 17th century and actually established it as a republic. If you have ever read or know of the book, "Robinson Crusoe", the Salé Rovers were featured in it. Way before that though, Salé was discovered and settled in the 11th century by a Berber tribe.
During our visit, we were able to see a lot of the architecture, including the surrounding medina wall, that was built throughout history. Also within its walls is the third-largest mosque in Morocco and it's definitely worth checking out!
Life seems to be a bit quieter in Salé compared to Rabat and other parts of Morocco, as this is more of a commuter city. Even so, this was still a charming place to visit and see.
Aside from being an old pirate city, Salé Morocco was a great place to spend the day and we are glad we are able to show it to you in this travel vlog!

Jack Sparrow from the most famous movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” and common cinematic embodied the actor Johnny Depp. But in fact beyond what we saw in the film until the movie has been marred by this fact and blocked it here.
Here are some facts about the real Jack Sparrow !!
Jack Sparrow the character who has been played by Johnny Depp was, in reality, a Muslim Person, known as Jack Ward one of the famous pirates. He was sailing in the Mediterranean Sea at the Ottoman Empire age in the 16th Century. Jack Ward is known as “Jack Birdy” or Jack sparrow, which means “Jack the Bird” because he was addicted to breeding little bird. At his period in Tunisia and that’s why the locals call him Jack Sparrow and he is also known as “Yusuf Reis” after being converted to Islam. Jack was born in a poor family in coastal areas and spent years of his youth in the swamp fishing, became the most dangerous pirate in the region and the most prestigious in the world after the invasion of the Spanish Armada! For England in 1588.
Jack played a big role in saving many Muslims and Jews lives who were forced and burned to left their religion to become Christians after Andalucia state fall down. After Jack’s conversion to Islam, his popularity dropped down in Europe, especially between English Pirates who was expecting him to help the getting PO River Mediterranean Sea control.

They were actualy the equivalent of buccaneers or privateers there are many lengends and myths obout the pirates of sale that span the whole country... It's nice to see you guys out and about enjoying life amid this pandemic... I must catch up on you other videos we had to make our own farm festival this year so for the last week my kids an I were building" hay-mann" and a hay obstacle course for when the other kids come over. It will be strange with limited guests... But at least the kids will enjoy some form of normal fun... And Ryan one does end up beeing lost for words when you see the contrast of the cemetery on one side and the beach full of life on the other side... I have found out that cemeteries are often located in very lively neighborhoods for some reason and they don't really affect the Real estate market prices.... Can't wait for your next video snow camel out..!!❄️🐫

Murat Reis the Younger (c. 1570 - c. 1641) the most famous of the 17th-century pirate from Salé,In 1627 he captured the island of Lundy in the Bristol Channel and held it for five years, the same year he raided the fishing village of Grindavík,Iceland then capture a norwegian ship and enslaves the crew,on June 20, 1631,he attacked Baltimore, a small town in West Cork, Ireland.Murat Reis chose to make large profits by raiding Mediterranean islands such as the Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sardinia, and the southern coast of Sicily. He often sold most of his merchandise in Tunis, where he befriended the Dey. He is known to have sailed the Ionian Sea. He fought the Venetians near the coasts of Crete and Cyprus .In 1635, near the Tunisian coast, Murat Reis was outnumbered and surprised by a sudden attack. He and many of his men were captured by the Knights of Malta. He was imprisoned in the island's notorious dark dungeons. He was mistreated and tortured, and suffered ill health due to his time in the dungeon. In 1640 he barely escaped after a massive Corsair attack, which was carefully planned by the Dey of Tunis in order to rescue their fellow sailors and Corsairs. He was greatly honored and praised upon his return in Morocco and the nearby Barbary States.

rabat was the city of the pirates rabat her name of new sala, and there tose two borders were united a pirate.
the actual popuplation of rabat was used to live in sale and was expelled by saletins because being andalusian moriscos they were used to have spanish habits the men used to have long hair the women without veil, even they look european blond hair...,after their new expulsion they found the new sale which is actually Rabat ,and create with the unified city of two rivers sale and rabat, the flag was red, after the morocco took it back and keep the red flag as national flag during centuries.

Thank you for visiting my hometown salé and I was so emotional the moment you show the cemetery because my dad buried there it was a quick visit because the old city content 7 doors and a lot of fortress a nice souk and to finish in a good note the favorite salaoui sandwich called Makouda it potato patties.
