  • How do we know when it is time to change out our boat's fuel filters?
Well my inquisitive Skallywags…. That’s really easy! Just swap out the stock T-handle on your primary fuel filter and replace it with a vacuum gauge.
We recommend everyone having one of these installed!
Putting in a vacuum gauge will help you understand your fuel filter system. It’s really that easy!!
We also suggest putting in a fuel filter priming pump to help simplify changing out your filters when it comes time.

This is a simple way to monitor the suction side of your fuel system. Once you know your system, you will know it's normal operating vacuum and can easily see minor changes before they become a crisis. Once the vacuum begins to rise, get some new filters and replace them as well as the O ring on the T handle and the square "O-ring" under the cap of the Racor. Great Tech tip!

One of the most important parts of a diesel fuel system. Obviously I’m a big fan. I actually bought 2 - the first didn’t have “tell tale” about 5 years later the new model came out and I immediately purchased one! Good Stuff!

I run a vacuum gauge similarly on my oil fired heating system as well. Great tip!
