Nice to hear it’s in the sip-it circle. I love how the low-key packaging embodies its demure taste profile. Kudos to them for coming up with it so that I can now rotate it with Balblair 12 and Glencadams 😂

Clean, crisp, and fruity. All at a good price.I think it's an underrated bottle. Cheers!

The color of the liquid and the bottle is just too beautiful to me. After 1 year of eyeing this bottle I finally picked it up from the duty free. Just starting to explore the rabbit hole of the whisky world. I wanted something that is not heavily influenced by casks. Can’t wait to open and try it. Thanks for the review.

This bottle doesn't get the credit it deserves. It's good stuff. Cheers!

I just discovered this bottle recently and opened it today and I must say I like the taste, the craft presentation and at a good price in my market

It deserves more credit. It's a nice crisp fruity offering that doesn't break the bank.

Fantastic choice for a 12 year old Speyside single malt.
It's unfortunate that Aultmore is somewhat overlooked. Then again, it's an integral part of Dewar's blends.
I tasted the 12 and the 18 before deciding to buy the older version. It's smooth, spicy and oaky and has a thicker mouthfeel than the 12.

I have a Duncan and Taylor Dimensions Aultmore 18 and like it very much.

Great review Peter. I passed up Aultmore 12 thinking it's light refreshing summer type scotch. I believe there is also a 18 yo that maybe interesting. Maybe one day who knows.

I have a Duncan and Taylor Dimensions Aultmore 18 and look forward to every glass I have. Good stuff all around.

Definitely one I just walk by on the shelf. Will have to keep a look out for it. Thanks for the review!

It's an easy one to walk by and not notice. It won't knock your socks off, but it's good. Cheers.

This one does get passed over a lot along with Deveron. I think it’s the branding and packaging in addition to the ABV. If they were 45 or 46 ABV they would sell more.

The label definitely does not stand out on the shelf. I feel like it's a good clean crisp summer pour.

@@whiskeyisajourney What's funny to me is that when I've seen it on the shelf I think of cold spring or early fall. Like you're lakeside and summer is ending but it is getting chilly. Kind of tranquil. Yet when you drink it one thinks this would be great in the summer. Maybe Aultmore needs to get the people that helped Benromach with their relabeling.

Thanks for the review Peter! I’ve been eyeing this Aultmore for a bit and after this review I think I’ll pick up a bottle…..where do you put it in comparison to something like the Deanston 12 or the Arran 10?

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  10 месяцев назад +2

That's a great question. I think it's on par with them both. In fact, I'll put them in my blind samples and do a bottle battle. Without tasting them side by side and going off of memory I'd rank them Arran, Deanston, then Aultmore. But all very close to one another.

That would be a great bottle battle! I look forward to it.

I'm not sure I've seen an Aultmore 12 .. or maybe I just walked past it.
Wanna up the Sip It Or Skip It drama? Your Skips require a mandatory dump down the sink, or given away before any more pours. Basically, it has to be taken out of the pool.
Unpopular? Yes. Dramatic? Yes. Grain of salt moment... I also suggested the Blend It policy... that's got a tenuous success rate at best.

No way I can do that Tony. I still have reviews to do on the bottle I've done Sip and Skip videos on. Also some of those bottles are in bottle battles and flights. Nice try😜

Nice review. I find it a very pleasant whisky but not one that sets my heart beating. That's the beauty of whisky, different strokes for different folks!

Same here. Pleasant whisky but not a bottle I replaced.
