You've done an excellent job of explaining the signal systems. I started my railroad career as a tower man at Dover, NJ and finished as a conductor 43 years later for NJT. Centralized dispatching rendered towers obsolete. We in the USA referred the mechanical interlock towers as arm strong. One needed a strong arm and back to operate the systems.

What a great couple of videos - a really good primer where there is a lack of decent signalling on RUclips.

Loved both videos on signals. Wish we could had more videos on this specially on what all those old signals means.

TVM 430 is fixed block, the block is defined from lineside block marker to block marker. The lineside block marker is a blue square with a yellow triangle pointing right in it.
It does have cab signalling, but this does not make it moving block.

Can we get a tour round the Alton relay room and an explanation of how the relay interlockings are connected? Also HS1 uses the French TVM-430 in-cab signalling system which is still based on fixed block, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmission_Voie-Machine
