I loved him in all three as well, though it's been a long time since I've seen Dutch and barely remember it. But mostly as Al Bundy. Married with Children was in my top 3 Fox shows in the early 90s along with Simpsons and Herman's Head.
However, to me there is a close-second fave character of his... Bill Jacks, retired police officer in Imperial Beach, CA.
With enduring catchphrases like "I got my eye on YOU!" and "Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ" that my wife and I STILL TO THIS DAY say to each other in random situations... well, IYKYK, as they say.
P.S. for those going WTF? about now, Bill is a central character from John from Cincinnati. which was an HBO show that began airing right after the infamous "black screen" series finale of the Sopranos. Very few people watched it at the time, it was cancelled after just one 10 ep season... but it was created by David Milch (better known for NYPD Blue in the 90s and Deadwood earlier in the 00s), so if you like his stuff (especially his dialogue style), give it a shot, it's on HBO Max and again... only 10 eps, so it doesn't take long to watch it all. Highly recommended if you like quirky stuff (people compare it to Twin Peaks sometimes but you're not really going to find an Agent Cooper central character in it, so... don't go in expecting that aspect).

I used to watch that show as a kid and thought it was the funniest show ever. That lasted till I got married and had kids. There really was a moral to the story in each episode.

Al to his mother-in-law from Wanker County! They sure don't make comedy like that anymore. Everything is about getting offended these days. Al Bundy was my childhood hero who taught me everything I know about family life.

+thegoldfly1, It would have to be a dog Peggy bought on her own. No way Buck could die. Otherwise it would be the last episode of the show as Al brutally murders Peggy, Bud, and Kelly.

I still watch "Married....with Children". Yes, Al was resigned to his fate! At time's he was determined to make his tormentor's suffer in return! That was Comic Gold!
Ed brought the Laugh's like few can! Just a facial expression would have me in tear's laughing.
Ed, & cast, THANK YOU ALL for the laugh's! You all helped me through some dark day's in my life. Just having something to laugh about helped me survive.
    Thank you, each & everyone!
One of my favorite episodes was the 4th season backyard bbq, & Al has the apron that reads,
"Kiss the Cook. Kill the Wife."

I used to roll with Ed at the Gracie Academy back in the 90s and he would tell stories about his childhood that included him doing the voice and mannerisms of his father. It sounded so much like Al that I'm sure he got part of it from his dad.

I see a lot of my uncle in Al Bundy's character and my Uncle is one of the funniest people i know albeit unwittingly hilarious which makes him even funnier to me. I feel bad Ed O'Niell got typecast as Al Bundy but thats testament to his acting and really nailing a character 100%

I watched some kinda behind the scenes documentary about "Married..." once, and one of the writers/directors/producers/whatever told the tale off casting O'Neill as Al. According to the story, the scene they were reading for started with Al coming through the door and allegedly, when it was Ed's turn, he stopped in front of the door, let out a heavy sigh, and only then stepped through, and it was at that moment when they knew they had the right person.
I like how both this story and Ed's story kind of compliment each other.
