3 decades later and Married with Children can be remembered as one of the most wholesome things to come out of Fox. Sure it arguably led to the degradation of American society but far less than most Fox programming. Also, I love Ed's role in Wayne's world.
what made it lead to a degradation of society?? did Al say too many fat jokes that made people get even more obese? did all of Al's speeches about american values lead to labeling of everyone into groups? Al spoke to and for the working class. If you all listened to him instead of labeling it as a "guilty pleasure" you might still be a respectable nation.
A decent chunk of the MWC fanbase didn't seem to recognize the fact that the show/its characters were satire and see Al Bundy as some kind of "alpha male" hero and the show being representative of the "good old days", when if anything it was poking fun at people that were like the characters in the show. MWC is a funny show, but none of the characters are what I would call role models. I think saying it lead to the "degradation of America" is pretty ludicrous though, more that it appealed to people from dysfunctional families/broken homes and aforementioned people who didn't catch the fact that the show was comic satire, and wasn't meant to glorify the Bundys or their way of life (nor was it meant to glorify the middle-class yuppies across the street in the form of the Rhodes)
