Mate keep at it for getting some pointers youtube will be your best friend. There are plenty of people that melt into ingots and buff them nice to mirror finish then store them. I'm not too sure I understand why they do that I am of the mind to scrap something and smelt it to get a better return. Unfortunately by the time you factor in the smelting equipment purchase and gas sometimes the difference between downgraded material and 1st grade material is not very different so hard to make it pay. As you mentioned in the video there is always the fun of just doing the smelting and that's worth something.
If you put a stainless steel deep fryer basked in there before the melting it makes it a lot easier to recover the aluminum. Also using a campfire as the heat source will be a lot cheaper than using gas..
