I have seen more than a dozen home forges on RUclips. Without a shadow of a doubt this was the best thought out a end product that I have seen so far. Great job.
@@christophernikolaou8009 It's all about your priorities. Save up over time -- neither a Tig nor a lathe are out of reach, even for men of humble means. Just steal $20 from yourself once every week or two and stick it in a can in the shop -- before you know it, you'll have your tool money. I just got my first welder, which took me over a year to save up for because I don't earn much and support a family -- it can be done! Like Jason Knight says, "Sell the gold coin collection" (or whatever other non-critical thing you're spending that $$ on -- almost everyone blows some portion of their income on something.) Welder, blacksmithing tools, a drill press, bench grinder... A lathe is nice to have, but not critical, a 1x30" belt sander is like $50 on harbor freight and can do a LOT of grinding with cheap belts, if you don't have a 2x72, etc. Tools are never a bad investment!
I love most of the stuff you build/restore are integrated into you're workshop. When you see it in action, you go "oh yeah, I remember that," and go the down the rabbit hole of past videos.
Very, very nice job. This is my absolute favorite propane bottle forge build i have seen to date. I love the attention to detail you showed, and that you were following your obviously well thought out plans. Love it.
I'm toying with the idea of building a forge. I have an old helium canister in the back of my garage... This is by far one of the best builds I've seen of all forges I've watched being built on RUclips... Thank you for the inspiration 👌
I’m so happy to see all the new toys(tools) you have today. I’ve really enjoyed watching you progress over the years. You are a truly gifted craftsman of so many trades. I look forward to more years of watching you grow and inspire so many. In all languages. Continue to be blessed by our creator.
I would consider changing the door counterweights to be foot pedals. I constantly find myself wishing for 3 hands when smithing, and being able to open/close the forge doors with both hands busy would be pretty handy. There is a reason most power hammers use a foot control.
It is really really good to know what the finished product looks like before you start. It makes it look like your a genius when you make something beautiful on the first try.
Like most videos on here nowadays I watched this one in preview all the way through ! It stopped me scrolling but for some reason I didn’t open it until the end, just to leave this comment, anyway… great work fella thanks for sharing. 👍🏼
I did one of these with one burner in the middle, about ten years ago, but I like the double burner better, and since mines about had it, time to build a new double burner one. Thanks.
Great use of an old expansion tank. I'm in the heating business so I must have at least 20 of these just laying around. I'm always on the lookout for stuff to use them for because scrap prices are so low.
It was awesome. You captivated my attention to all the details of your work. Left me with no words. Excellent job. I can't wait to see what's next. Thank you for the art created.
...and useless, and talentless, and unskilled 😩 I see this guy manipulate matter and mold it to his desire and me, I get excited when I don't burn the toast 😆
It looks like a really nice forge someone was trying to get in the Blacksmith thing I wish I had one like that or someplace here. That helped me to put something like that.
Very very nice dude! I've been thinking about my next forge design for a while and this build has really helped work out a few issues I had. Thanks so much! :D
Sir Bearded One: LOADS of people asked what the 'blue stuff' was. It's RIGIDIZER, folks. Key step -- hardens your ceramic fiber insulation. What I couldn't find was what type of castable refractory you used...? It cured so hard and smooth -- would love to know what it is and what it's temp rating is. Also - no IR reflective coating on its surface? ITC 100 or whatever...? GREAT gas forge build -- I've seen them all -- this one rocks! Like others, I'd love to get the materials list and see an update vid after a year or so -- see how everything holds up. GO BEARD!
Absolutely amazing! You have to be the most talented person ever! Outstanding, there is no end to your goodness!! I want to be on your zombie apocalypse survival team!
wow, putting so much work into THAT? I would start out with an old propane tank... they have a gnarly heat tolerant alloy and ... well they are worthy!
In a group of people, being a blacksmith - yes, alone - no) We forget that before each person was a hunter, a builder, and a carpenter .. In short, what you had to do was to do it yourself, just like in the zombie apocalypse, if you are the best blacksmith, you will have the best weapon (from what you can do) but you have to strain to find food, shelter, etc. .. But this is clearly a better skill than let's say some kind of manager, lol ..
While I am pretty good with power tools and understanding mechanical stuff, I think some crisp out of the way notations would have been a great addition!
You could tell me with a straight face “I build this specific model of forge to earn a living” and I’d believe you 100%. In fact I’m sorry I doubted you about the wood and glue to fill the negative space, I should have seen that coming lmao

What did you treat the insulation with? The blue liquid?

I've been highly critical of what passes for refractory insulation on RUclips. You've restored my faith in humanity.
Oof that's savage
Its just kaowool
With sodium silicate sprayed on...
@@AA-zv6yo Yes...Kaowool. Against this there are well over ten million views of videos touting Plaster of Paris and sand.

Awesome. Both of you supporting each other. And folks like me found you separately. Both of you guys are awesome. Love all the stuff. Keep it up.
Using the heat gun to re-activate the glue is genius. I never thought of that.

I was even confused by the tube, even if it was stainless it wouldn't last very long as a forge liner.
