If Watts shoe hadn’t fallen apart, it could’ve been an American sweep.

@@jiml8670 : Yes, that was a spectacular equipment failure. That race must have cost Quincy some world ranking points. I hope Nike (at the very least) extended his contract.

3 Kenyans in the final of the world championships, even at 400 meters!! Is there anything they can't do?!! Those 3 should just move up to the 800 meters, using their countries natural hereditary for awesome endurance mixed with their brilliant speed over 400, how could they fail. In fact, I'm going to check on google to see if any of them ended up doing that.

They didn't. Kitur's son, Felix, ended up being an 800m runner though. Felix ran a 1:45.13, though he ran a 1:44.84 before being DQ'd. He was actually my teammate for a short period.

i refuse to believe that every 400m runner around johnson has been implicated in some drug offence or another, yet he remains as clean as a whistle, i think the americans protected their best athlete of the 90's

Jay He’s one of the few pure athletes with extreme speed and endurance to match. I’m sure he complied with testing. Many American 400 meter specialists were caught during the timeframe that he rose to the top. His ascension was a process across several years. He didn’t break the world record until 1999 despite defeating two tremendous 400 meter sprinters in 1993 at Stuttgart. His muscle mass improved slowly over several years, not overnight. Please remembered Michael lost one gold medal because a team member on a US 4X400m relay team was tested and failed tests taken on the day of competition but examined later. We don’t know how fast Michael could have run a 400 meter race because he was never under pressure from his competitors. I lost races to cheaters and the muscle mass increase was self evident. One key ingredient was the coaching and disciplined dedication.

Black people in America take the losses and blame for drugs. But ya know what ya don't have to kill a fly with a gun.
