Great win for Cathy. One of several tight races that she won under immense pressure between Atlanta and Sydney, she only lost once in that four year period. Also, we never really saw Rücker again after this.

Not surprised. As usual the best American had just come off a long collegiate season and didn't make the final. It seems to happen often at 400m.
