Not surprised they didn't show footage of cyclists using that bike lane. Who would choose to put their life in that much danger over a trip to the outlet mall? The bike lane should be removed completely, or integrated into the street design in a way that invites people to use it.
They don't actually care about people riding bikes they just put the bike lane in to get federal funding. It honestly shouldn't be legal for states to build these bicycle death traps.
This is why bike lanes should be between the parking lane and the sidewalk, _not_ between the parking lane and traffic. Then we just have to train passengers to look before opening their door (and cyclists to pay attention to parked cars, though any cyclist that's been doored before has already learned that the hard way).
Yeah, really this road design needs to be re-configured. Give people on bikes a separated and protected path out of traffic. Drives me nuts when I have to ride among traffic or between busy traffic lanes.
Never in a million years would I bike in that lane. I agree with you all; just have a designated portion of the sidewalk (maybe with some smooth asphalt) and signage to let drivers know that bikes might come from the sidewalk
Drivers Ed teacher didn't know the answer? No wonder people can't drive! Now you need to explain the concept of merging. Nobody knows how to merge in this state.
Why even bother with these bike lanes? I would never ride in one in my life. They're putting bike lanes from Quebec/Illif over to South Parker. They bring the bike lane to the left of the right turn lane (read: crossing the turning lane) for every single intersection on a road where people are driving 40mph on a good day... $25,640,00 and we get a bit of deadly paint that goes less than 2 miles and connects to nothing. Perf 👍
There is one component missing here: a built out curb for cars to go around. The point of forcing cars further into the intersection before turn is so they will cross the crosswalk at a 90° angle, reducing their blond spots for both car and pedestrians. If I were to grade it I’d give in an i for “incomplete,” but if I were to curve the grades across North America it would be a C+. We’ll get there but it takes time.
solid white line? dont go over them dotted white line? you can cross over them ONLY IN AMERICA PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR DECADES DONT KNOW THAT
If everyone who took public transit and biked in Denver suddenly started driving cars you'd be even less likely to find parking on your unlikely venture into the city. You're a lazy asshole, doesn't mean everyone wants to be.
Talk about debt! How much do you think the city has spent on expanding and maintaining roads in just the past decade? I'd wager it's certainly more than they've taken in with taxes. I take the bus/light rail regularly even though I own a vehicle because every time I drive through Denver I feel like I'm risking my life and my wallet.
We pay to move everyone through the city, whether it be by car, bike, scooter, or public transit. I have to pay entry level employees an extra $7/hr to afford a car. That makes everything more expensive. Plus, fewer cars on the road means faster driving for me. And safer motorcycling. And cycling. I do all. Just not scooters…too old for that…
I was expecting stupid clickbait and all I got was a guy calmly and clearly explaining the correct answer

Holy SMOKES, why the hell would you put a bike lane *between* two live lanes of fast moving traffic?
Do you really expect decent road design in North America?

Expand the sidewalk, then allow biking on the new portion of the sidewalk. Ez

Jeez, that's a scary bike lane. If I were a cyclist in Denver, I wouldn't go to those businesses on that road.

This is probably the thing that annoys me about drivers. Turn into the lane you're suppose to turn into!!! Not that hard.
"I don't understand, should I cross the solid or dotted lines?" Jesus people, time for a bus pass!
sorry not sorry but , as a cyclist, this is just bad design and a poor experience for everyone involved.
The answer is to move the cycle lane to the right and to give it protection from stupid drivers, something like a low concrete wall.
only the us can design such terrible roads
Education education education!
When we add new 🚲 infrastructure, AND we should, people need to be educated on how to use it.
Use the metric system!!
solid white line? dont go over them
dotted white line? you can cross over them
ONLY IN AMERICA PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR DECADES DONT KNOW THAT
Simple the politicians don't want you driving automobile's ..Ride The Debt..Aka RTD....
Rough Tough and Dangerous..a RTD bus drifted into my lane a couple weeks ago. Thought I was going to die 😳 I'll drive myself, thanks.
