  • The Cleric is one of the best support classes in the game and has access to healing/support skills to aid your team. They die easily though so keep baby safe : )

For the first time I witnessed the impact of content creators on peoples purchase decisions first hand. I saw this game recently and was sceptical about the autobattling combat. But since you seem to like it, I kinda trust in the gameplay and am convinced I will have tons of fun.

The gameplay is good, a lot of tactical depth and interesting decisions to make. You can also change weapons/trinkets before combat and attack skills/attack rules so it has more depth than FE so far

They have been working on this game for 10 years, and man does it show! From what I have seen in the demo, and what I have seen online combined, which doesnt even show the whole of what this game has to offer but just the first quarter or two of it maybe, it looks to be hands down the best passion project in the genre. And possibly the best console SRPG ever made, surpassing even my all time favorite game Ogre Battle. In fact, I already see it as a superior game in every regard. I pre-ordered 3 games this year already, Persona 3 reload, FF7 rebirth, and this one.....And THIS is the one that has me the most hyped even over those masterpieces.

The combat forecast outright showing whether an attack will miss is interesting, and is definitely something I need to get used to.
Funny thing is that activating a Ranged/Magic Assist seems to reroll the RNG, so you can sometimes end up doing less damage if you activate it if an attack becomes a miss as a result

It definitely has some useful applications. For example people often run griffon+ fighter so the fighter can protect the griffon from arrows. Griffons have very high evasion so a lot of the time enemies just never hit them so they frontline for such setups normally. However sometimes they will inevitably get hit so you just swap the fighter up for a turn.

i found clerics to be really useful for tanks like hoplites and especially fighters that take a little bit of damage in each fight that can build up and lead to them dying (as opposed to tanks with a self heal like a Lord or avoid tanks that take no damage at all), and then combine that with a class that deals a lot of damage on their own like a Knight, Sellsword, or Hunter (especially with the flame bow) to enable them to do their thing without interruption. while i didn't unlock 4-slot units until after the timer ran out, i imagine adding a wizard or especially a witch would be very effective, as it would cover for the lack of armor countering ability

I really appreciate the in depth analysis of the different classes. Definitely will be retooling my squads once the full game comes out and I have a lot more time to improve my squads. I’m just been doing speed runs at the moment to see how far I can get in the game.

There is a staff that buffs attack and can be equipped by clerics, I prefer that one with the additional Passive skill amulet so the cleric can heal and help with damage

i like clerics for the healing assist but as a unit in actual combat, i dont really like them. i'd rather have units that have high initiative and can either burst enemies down quickly or debuff (freeze, poison, burn, stun). so typically the time i use clerics are when i've captured watchtower near where they just unload heal assists. so her squad i rarely use for combat. her role is to use stamina for heal assists while the other squads do the killing/taking on attacks.

@@denysvisionYou don't need them to survive. Just build better teams that kill w/ initiative, dodge, etc. If you need them to survive, build better squads.

@@denysvision i agree with miah. I dont need them to survive. My teams typically go 1st and nuke or control (stun/freeze). Thats how i survive. I prevent my units from getting dealt dmg in the 1st place.
Tanking and healing of course is a viable strat (especially with sellswords) but i dont consider them as efficient as alpha striking/controlling enemies.

@@miahmagick agreed. as with most srpgs/trpgs, action economy is king. Going 1st and imposing the rules of engagement is always a big advantage.

I personally use them as buffers first and healers second.

Base cleric is probably too much healing. But they get some pretty nifty equipment. Lyrical Wand from Barbatimo is well worth its high price (imo is better than Cleric Cane, AP vs PP) since it both increases the cleric's AP by one but also has an ability with it that heals and give the recipient an additional AP (I found success pairing it with both the Huscarl and the Archer.) Dancer's Bracelet (buffs a friendly unit's next attack by 30%) is also pretty good on a cleric. So although the cleric does not have any attacks of its own, it can still greatly contribute on offense.

I thought all clerics were like Scarlett. So they don't have magic attacks at all? Maybe when they promote, clerics with some kind of weapon were the best at Fire Emblem.
