Metal fume fever linked with inhalation of fumes of ZnO is characterized by fatigue, chills, fever, myalgias, cough, dyspnea, leukocytosis, thirst, metallic taste and salivation. One study asked 12 healthy volunteers to inhale zinc oxide fumes through a mask for two hours at 0, 2.5 and 5 mg/m3 on separate days.[12] All but two developed a mild fever between 6 and 12 hours after exposure and all but one reported more symptoms (particularly fatigue, muscle ache and cough) after zinc oxide exposure at 5 mg/m3 than after exposure to the control furnace gas.[12] Another case study of a 25-year-old male welder with metal fume fever showed that he was suffering from aseptic meningitis with pericarditis, pleuritis and pneumonitis.

ah jeez. that isnt how it works at all. once smelted any metal mixture will separate. that is why there is a fine science to making alloys in the first place, because it is hard to get metals to mix properly.

Every time I‘m watching these kind of videos, my German ‚safety-for-workers‘-loving heart is pumping with anxiety.
I mean seriously. Some of these work steps look so freaking dangerous (or they are really loud) and these poor guys walk around without any kind of protective clothing or ear protectors

I've watched quite a bit of the "third world metal crafts" content and one question always returns: do they know about work benches? Everything is done squatting and working directly on the floor, or stooped over, or sitting on some random thing that's 10 inches high.
They love their jobs, that’s obvious

Are you getting fired if you dare wearing any protective equipment ? How is it possible in all those videos nobody has gloves, protective shoes, eyes protection when welding. Everything is savage, it's like made on purpose.
It makes your toes curl just seeing the conditions these blokes work in; not to mention the total lack of safety gear.

this one started poorly for me...floor too clean. had to wait for 3/4 to go by before the filthy floors showed up. honestly...
But there still were unnecessary work place bullying. That first guy in the vid sort of showed how he does not respect smoking breaks 😮

They are breathing zinc oxide from the brass like crazy. I would be surprised if they make it a couple years. They are not complaining because their brains are shot.
You don't really think this is a good thing? What about all of the workers who spilled molten metal on their bare feet but are not shown in this video? Do you think there is a robust social system to make sure that they live ok with a half-burned off foot?

No safety for the workers very dangerous
Look up 'zinc shakes' or 'zinc flu'. The fumes from molten brass is mostly zinc burning off. You can see where they have a zinc ingot ready to go into the crucible to replace what has been lost in the melting process. 🫠 They really need quality respirators.

Why do these workshops in Pakistan always look like trash heaps?
Please don't be so critical about safety standards in Pakistan. Their government doesn't give importance to safety issues. If it was India the factory inspector would have had the owner on the coals for such blatant negligence of safety standards. In India too some industries disregard safety measures. Especially in the fireworks industry. But the factory inspectors always try to be on the spot for safety violations.
Why does the government have to tell people to be safer, and the employer could want better for their people.
