I sold a boat load of them in my day. Especially the auxiliary fisheye. Went right on top of a standard lens with an adapter. 52 mm 49 mm the most popular sizes like putting on a skylight filter only using a fisheye instead.

I like the way Sulu and Chekov both rushed Spock at once and Chekov gets pushed backwards to the helm and doesn't even collapse and Sulu ends up in the Captain's chair, spinning around for a bit and then Chekov leans out of the Captain's line of fire when he stuns Spock. Chekov's boots still have a highly polished shine, yet Kirk's are starting to look a bit dull after having had them on all day. Uhura doesn't even get involved in that dust up. She just stands there all during the fight scene. She must have seen how Sulu and Chekov got shoved back and decided "no, not going to get involved in that mess."

If you pause and scrub the video, you can see that Kirk pointed the phaser somewhere between Spock’s upper chest and his neck. But the green stun splodge first shows much lower, closer to Spock’s belly. Of course, special-effects folks of that era didn’t anticipate that fans would be viewing the episode in 2020 on our wireless handheld devices and pausing the video to look for these details like the obsessive trekkie I still am.

3:05 How chilling was that little hiss Spock gave in response to Kirk's appeal? 🥶 I'll bet that was Nimoy's idea; it seems like the kind of thing he would think up. No words he could have spoken could have expressed utter derangement better than than that hiss.
Vulcans are probably evolved from something very like a cat. It probably took centuries of mental discipline before they could stop themselves from hissing and purring.

The music was absolutely perfect for this scene. The horn blasts are perfectly timed to the action. And of course Sulu and Chekov are going to charge Spock at the same time. How brilliant was that? No other show on television has made such prolific use of the double-fisted hammer blow. One thing is for certain: when I want some hard-hitting evil twin action, I turn on Star Trek.

Do you remeber Trek 3 when Spock was in accelerated puberty and took out an adult Klingon male?

I can't help being disturbed by the way McCoy's tone becomes slightly annoyed when he commands help to bring Spock to sickbay. Because it is about Spock or because Jim had held him back earlier?
Or because he's had enough of the fact they always have the same problem with Spock: they simply can't match his Vulcan-strength and have to phaser him?

Anyone looking at the Medusan ambassador's box get reminded of the Navigators from Frank Herbert's _Dune_ series? I bring this up because I saw something on writing _Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back_ where the Emperor was inside a box like this one.

this is one of the episode that I've never forgotten since I saw it when I was a kid - araound 40 years ago or even more -: inside Spock there was one of the aethereal creatures they've found on a Planet contained in some bowl. they were not confined into physical bodies but they could possess any. The feeling of loneliness this one was experimenting and his words for telling his puzzlement and sadness- thou translated in my language - impressed me

Spock is a Vulcan poet immersed into a most tragic form of Shakespeare….until he gazes into the menacing machine box without his sight saving goggles. Better beware of Mr. Spock, especially when he emerges into the open while experiencing a painfully sightless and blinding rage.

Now that you mention it, I can’t believe not 1 person on that bridge noticed Spock walking back to the box without his visor on. I know it’s a fictional show, but you want it to be plausible. That being said, the director did get Spock close to the box before the ambassador side had his little speech about loneliness, this way Spock is only walking a few feet without the visor on. Him walking just a couple feet without it is a little more believable
