People forget that spock isn't less emotional than humans, he's more. Vulcans are naturally extremely, self destructongly emotional and have intentionally severed themselves from it through logic over many generations. Add that to Spocks human side and you can get extreme emotion.
How Spock reacts in "Amok Time" to realizing he didn't kill Kirk during the Pon Farr really shows how strong his friendship with Kirk is, as well as the love he is capable of in spite of being half Vulcan, and in my opinion is his biggest genuine emotional outburst in the series. A lot of the other ones happened because he was being influenced by some outside force. Leonard Nimoy was just such a talented actor.
Amok time's ending is great. Spock goes from confused "Captain?" to overjoyed "JIM!" In a second before reapplying his emotional control. Then embarrassed as he knows McCoy's going to have a field day.
I like it that Spock has these experiences. He cried, he fell in love, he felt rage and had a brush with death. It lets me know that Vulcans have flaws too. Good ones.
Half human, all of the emotion...he talks about it being damn near impossible or crippling, to withhold each and every emotion. Though in the comics he does talk about engaging in "human like activities", petting a cat for example, or enjoying a song or two.
T'Pol explains to Trip that Vulcans have much stronger and more destructive emotions than humans. In fact, she envys humans for the way we can manage our emotions.
Hybrid human Vulcans are sad.. Vulcans themselves evolved on their planet to showing no emotion over millennia. I assume a lot of it is based on Sha Ka Ree & their knowledge of the universe, which is vast.
They were full of emotions before Surak showed them the way....however, Spock goes in plenty, on how sad he truly is, even his father, when he mind melds with Jean Luc, expresses deep sorrow through him of course, its so crippling even Picard has to take a moment.
Spock you fall to your human side and hate it. You are only half human and half Vulcan. Just know fans still love you always. Never talk about his ears. Ever.
I literally just watched "Amok Time" and I never realized how strong Kirk's and Spock's friendship was until Spock finds out he did, in fact, not kill Kirk.
2:35 best emotional "outburst"!! That scene and the one at the end from The Motion Picture have always been my favorite. Showing that deep bond Kirk, Spock and Bones share.
Bryce I just came here from that scene to get the URL for this video to give to a commenter who said the scene with Valaris is the most pissed Spock's ever been, I'm going to say "Nah, he's been more pissed than that."
Thankyou. His character was better in the movies. The show he was a bully to spock constantly. It like he was mad jim prefered spock over him or was only spock friend because of gym.
@@jessicarabbit439 To be fair, he does have more than enough moments in the show to make up for his meanspirited comments towards Spock. Heck, even the scene referred to here has one of these moments, it merely cuts off before he manages to help Spock get ahold of himself. Also, the Plato's Stepchildren segment that is featured in this video is another similar moment. Goes to show that even in the show proper, Bones cares more about Spock than he cares to admit, even in the original show.
The ending scene in "Amok Time" was one of the only times where Spock's emotions were completely by himself. Most of these other instances Spock was under the influence of someone else or something else. Or, they were still working out his character. Lots of bits in episodes of season 1 clearly show Spock expressing emotion.
Its pointed out later by Spock, that when his mother slapped him, he felt immense grief, for once in his life, he let down both his parents, he took a few days off from the bridge to "meditate", in reality he was dealing with immense sorrow.
This side of paradise is probably my most loathed emotional Spock episode. My brain just can’t handle what I like to term ‘high’ Spock. I much prefer Journey to Babel and my favorites Amok Time, All Our Yesterday and just about every scene after the meld in Turnabout Intruder.
3:50 Spock said I don’t like that I couldn’t stop seeing this part and my uncle said I don’t never like that 😂😂😂 I think Dr McCoy was mad bc he wants to go back to the portal and they can’t or they’ll die
I think one of those emotions was the pon farr, the time when many vulcans, due to the fact that they have no emotions, have the sudden and inescapable urge to reproduce. If humans didn't do it for almost a decade, we probably would also have some sort of pon farr as well.
For everyone who grew up watching Star Trek, we all get the amazing relationships that the crew of the Enterprise had with each other. Everyone came to depend on Spock being unemotional and accurate, and so when he was emotional (and when he was, he was seldom just emotional, he was downright dysregulated), everything and everyone had to re-calculate. It was probably a relief when Spock went back to being his normal mostly Vulcan self. He handled things well that way: Spock owns a punk: ruclips.net/video/Gr82dZpCr48/видео.html
To me it adds more to it. It takes itself seriously but without the tryhard edgy nonsense the new shows have. Scifi then was way more colorful or campy at times and that's what makes it unique
Spock saying he is in control of his emotions and then desperately trying to regain his composure while crying uncontrollably is a mood
Lol that’s me when I have a lot of homework
It's so sad tho cause its the one time you see him desperately trying to resist saddness which in itself is sad :'(
XD
Well what do you expect? He's half human and half vulcan
He is both Human and Vulcan 🖖
Spock grabbing Kirk and shouting his name in relief and pure happiness is one of the best things I have ever seen in my life
I know!
People forget that spock isn't less emotional than humans, he's more. Vulcans are naturally extremely, self destructongly emotional and have intentionally severed themselves from it through logic over many generations.

Vulcans are based on the Jews although Jews don't necessarily connect to logic.

I agree! That was my favorite as well! Especially after "Macoy" says; "In a pigs' eye"!
Saw that episode today
Amok time's ending is great. Spock goes from confused "Captain?" to overjoyed "JIM!" In a second before reapplying his emotional control. Then embarrassed as he knows McCoy's going to have a field day.
Classic episode.
“Are you trying to kill me, Spock?”
“If I wanted to kill you, you’d be dead.”
My favorite part of the entire series is when McCoy calls Spock an elf with an enlarged thyroid
No that was Kirk. And yes that was also my favourite

If you really think about it, Vulcans are the saddest species in all of Star Trek.
Hybrid human Vulcans are sad.. Vulcans themselves evolved on their planet to showing no emotion over millennia. I assume a lot of it is based on Sha Ka Ree & their knowledge of the universe, which is vast.

Nimoy was on a whole other level
You forgot Star Trek VI where he slaps the phaser out of Valaris' hand in anger.
captainbryce1 also when he says “damn you sir, you will try.”
And again when he spun her around to forcibly mind-meld with her.
Bryce I just came here from that scene to get the URL for this video to give to a commenter who said the scene with Valaris is the most pissed Spock's ever been, I'm going to say "Nah, he's been more pissed than that."
McCoy had it coming. I never liked how he talked to you either, Spock.
Me either

Spock: "I didn't want to, Jim ^^"
Awwwww
Don't try it at work.
Bones disbelieve asking if spocks trying to kill him lol
When I first saw that clip, I was genuinely afraid for Bones. Spock is truely terrifying when he's angry.
@@hungrydragonvsfrightendhob7799 ya definitely a good look at that ancient vulcan savagery they try to suppress

Leonard Nimoy...class act. Lol. One of a kind

This side of paradise. Kirk; You were told to report to me at once. Spock; I didn’t want to. Cracks me up every time!
spock STOP SOBBING PLEASE---You're gonna make me cry ;-;
I love Star trek.☺😁😇👍💙💞
Spock becomes drunk as heck when he unvulcanizes.
This side of paradise is probably my most loathed emotional Spock episode. My brain just can’t handle what I like to term ‘high’ Spock.

Get it together Spock
3:10 I love this laugh. 😂

2:30 my dog when he sees me
3:49 his face 😂
Most Instructive. 🖖
this should've included spock being furious with valeris for betraying him
It took Nimoy a few episodes to find the Spock character. Until he did, he delivered some cringy unSpocklike line readings.
This made me realize that I sonríe skipped all of season 1 episode 24

Poor Spock
Spock look weird when he 'smile. .. it's just not normal to see. ..
I forgot how much of a huge assh*le Bones was to Spock! It's a shame the series ended with Spock and Bones like this!
Please remember that the rare emotional weakness displayed by Mister Spock was because of his half human genetics.
you forgot star trek tos: the man trap, this is a link to it: ruclips.net/video/BsogfjxlDpo/видео.html
The original had Spock saying 2,4,6,6,6 times. They promoted the anti Christ way back in the 1960's.
Wait what?
The acting seems so cheesy
But it’s great fanfiction material
I mean it was made 50 odd years ago so there is not much surprise
