Hey Brae. I was watching the first part of the video, feeling sorry for myself that I’ve never seen these beautiful places in Washington and thinking I’m too old to do so. Then you had your conversation with a man 5 years my senior doing just that. I have to say you’ve inspired me. Love your photography and story telling in your videos. I appreciate that you aren’t afraid to take self portraits. I did that early on in my photo life and got a lot of flack for doing so. I finally stopped listening to those critics and continued the practice. These self-photos are some of my favorites. Stay safe, my friend.
I think this is the beauty of the videos that people share on here, it's not just content it's inspiration! I agree with you, this video also inspired me to put on my walking boots and to get out into nature and the wilderness! I hope you get to do it Robert!
Thank you for sharing this, Robert. Never too late. It's a privilege to be able to share some of my experiences in the wilderness, and hopefully inspire others to explore it in some capacity. The self-portraits are images that I know I will look back on fondly, so I enjoy taking them. All the best my friend!
Well shit. Watching this at 7:50am in bed was not the move. Getting all emotional with this one. Really great video. His reflections about resenting people who were just enjoying life hit close to home. Not so long ago I had some of that resentment in my heart. Videos like this, your work, others’ work, and many other things helped me move on from that. Keep doing your thing, Brae. The world needs it.
Thanks my man. Enjoying this lane of photography/video making. We're all working on ourselves. Takes time. The self-reflection up there helps me realize things I need to change big time. Still a long way to go...
Mixing in those self portraits and random stranger portraits are the ingredients that makes these videos extra special. It just adds that extra layer of storytelling that elevates the already awesome scenery. Giving a memory to others via a photograph is my next goal for my photography. Thanks for that and the ongoing inspiration! 🙏
Your conversation with the older gentleman got me really emotional. Beautiful conversation with him, enjoying every moment in nature. In this video, for me, you’ve taken the best pieces of portraits and landscapes, so far… Keep up the great work Brae. You’re always setting the standards so high!
It will be my second favorite. The first favorite is still the scan of me up at Ladies Camp on Miners Ridge with the fire in the '70's. Taken by Pat Thieme, used by permission. ~ the older gentleman
Geezus Brae, just when I’m lured into some cozy beautiful mountain photos, you hit me with that heartfelt story. Absolutely incredible work as always, thank you so much for sharing these stories and your images.
Late to this one as my wife & I are on the road in SE Utah (a nice early morning in Arches). But man, another great production with stunning images. The bonus conversation was icing on this video cake, plus, as an almost-70 myself, I can certainly relate. Thanks again for your hard work on these.
Jeez Brae. That convo with the older gentleman got me. That pierced the soul in a lovely beautiful way. Sitting here, in my kitchen, reflecting on life now. A few years filled my eyes. Powerful video. And stellar pictures too. Thanks so much
Brae, I watch each of your vids multiple times just to absorb them fully. The quality of your work and the stories you share just blows me away. Thanks so much for the effort you go through to share this work man, sincerely thank you.
Brae , having a casual conversation in front of a majestic landscape 😂 On a more serious note , the conversation with the older gentlemen almost brought tears to my eyes and I love that you added the photos of him. Absolutely beautiful storytelling . Amazing as always !
This video is yet another reason you're the best, and my favorite, RUclips photography channel (film or otherwise). Your editing skills are on point. Always a deep commitment to the B Roll. Obviously beautiful videography & photos. And the storytelling... c'mon! You're the real deal. Thanks for sharing what you do
Man that was such a good insight and something I find myself struggling with often; not really liking to have a lot of people at "my spots" in the mountains or wherever it may be. Really cool to hear that conversation you had with that guy and SUPER cool that you got the picture he was referencing as well. Anyways, well done again Brae, you always put out superb work.
This is one of your best Brea! really enjoyed watching this one and the conversation with the man at the end was inspiring and strikes real emotion. It just highlights the importance of being open minded and saying hello to a person, never know who you might meet and they stories they have to tell. Also those long (and double?) exposures are brilliant! Well Done and thank you for the fantastic content, very genuine and enjoyable!
Wow, Brae, you have outdone yourself though I don't know how you do it. Superb quality content and cinematography as always but the nature and the personal touch at the end... Almost made me cry. Wonderful. Thank you for your stories and for the motivation and perspective...
Never get tired of your videos man. Those are some fantastic self portraits and I really enjoyed the conversation with the man at the end. As always, great work!
Brae this must be your best video I've seen from you. Wonderful hike, landscapes and of course the pure talk you had with the man you met. So lovely to be able to hear this kind of conversations. Keep on doing what you do.
Greatest video ever produced on youtube. Thank you Brae. You are an incredibly talented photographer who is able to capture the most beautiful moments that this earth has to offer. Thank you for this.
Damnit. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that conversation gave me the feels. I've for the longest been saying I'm gonna get out there and start exploring wilderness but I really just put up these mental barriers and then it's maybe some other time... Some beautiful shots here. I'm especially a sucker for long exposures on film.
A very well thought out video enjoyed every second of it..reminds me of going on adventures by myself, just got back from the Tetons and going back for 7 days next week..Your video was wonderful, love how you did the end on taking the stranger's photo and showing his candid shot..Anyways keep up the good work, and stay safe. Might just run into one another someday
Great video Brae! I’ve been wanting to stop people and get intentional portraits of them but have been nervous about asking, this definitely inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and have those conversations!
Jeez Brae, this is one of my favorite videos of yours and I think the shots are some of your best! The long exposures with the water and mountain and star trails are incredible and the photos you shared near the end of other campers, especially the older man, WOW. These videos really make me want to get out there and hike and explore more, the landscapes are unbelievably beautiful.
Beautiful as usual, you’re amazing at what you do! The conversation with that gentleman and the show of you walking through the snow was by far my favorite parts of the video. Keep it up man.
ok didn't know i was gonna cry tonight. thank you brae for sharing. ❤ seems like the most incredible sunset/sunrise, i would do anything for an experience like that. and hearing that mans story was the icing on the cake
Really cool double exposure in that self-portrait at 8:16! I love the portraits and the stories that you’ve been putting more of into your videos as well. All of these are a beautiful escape from wherever I am when I watch them. ✌️
Was really excited when I saw the scan of that double-exposure self portrait. I didn't expect it to turn out like that. Another fun surprise from the analog format haha. Thanks for the kind words, Bob!
Beautiful video again man. Lovely shots all round and jeez you were really trying to hit us all in the feels with that convo at the end haha Top stuff 👌
Brae... This was just so beautiful. I'm in tears, but tears of joy and gratefulness. Thank you for being so open and capturing such amazing moments and sharing with us all. You're so inspiring.
Just found you with a google search lol. Definitely like the videos so I’m subscribing. I was googling, “hiking with a Pentax 6x7” and your videos popped up. Having done a few thru hikes with a 35mm and finally getting my first medium format I’m convinced that this is it. Your videos put a huge smile on my face and are getting me excited to hit the John Muir Trail in September. Being a Florida boy I try to get out as much as possible to anywhere especially the mountains. I just have few questions. Do you just pack the Pentax into your bag? Do you separate the lens from the body and put it away? Do you have a bag for it inside your bag? I’m just trying to figure out the best way to carry it because I’m assuming it’s not always hanging from your neck 😅. Much appreciated and keep up the dope content! Also if you’re trying to come out for some parts my buddy and I will be out there between Sept through October if you want to get some good miles in 🤙🏽

No, but I would recommend carrying it
I really like the colors of your video 👌👌👌 on which camera have you shot it?
This is on the gh5s
ARE THERE EYES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN AT 8:10?? Great video!!
Haha those are head lamps from distant hikers!
8:10 who saw those glowing eyes ?
Haha those are actually head lamps of distant hikers!
What lens do you frequently use with your Panasonic ?
correct me if I'm wrong however your footage seems like you shoot with a pro mist filter. If you do many I ask which one?
Sigma 18-35. And i usually do use a 1/4 pro mist, but I didn’t for this vid!
Hey brae how are you doing I'm good today
Doin well sir
