The ending of Toy Story 3 the part when Andy leaves Woody at the girl’s house and Woody says “So long, partner” was one of the saddest scenes ever for us 90’s/early 200’s kids because we watched the original Toy story when we were little. I felt like that part won’t hit the same way to kids who watch toy story nowadays versus us. It was like a scene that signified the ending of (not only Andy’s) but our childhood as well.
He wasnt really a bad kid. He was just a boy with a rough childhood who needed to find a way to cope. He didnt know the toys were alive. Even though the toys SCARED HIM FOR LIFE! he had a promising future as a neurosurgeon and gave it up to save toys lives
She probably does, it is just not explained in the movie. Unless you mean Andy's mom should recognize Jessie's her doll particularly, and I don't think that is possible.

This may be silly, but I also noticed that Buzz Lightyear shares some similarities with Don Quixote. Buzz Lightyear was certain he was a space commander, while Quixote swore he was a knight. Moreover, Buzz realized he was a toy when he saw a commercial featuring his toy model, while Don Quixote had a similar realization when he found a book depicting his adventures.

I think what you are thinking of is consumerism and/or just being a regular kid that wants all the new toys. That said, I don't get the connection between being materialistic and being Marxist as put forward in the video either. Materialism isn't the thing that makes Marxism different. Both Marxism and capitalism are about the creation and distribution of material wealth. Saying that everyone should have an equal share of the wealth doesn't mean it's less materialistic ... its entire focus is still on ownership of property. Ownership of the means of production. Whether communist or capitalist it's all about the money.

And from a capitalist point if view, companies that make toys have no interest in a used toys market; they want you to throw away the stuff you have so you buy new stuff so they can keep producing more and more stuff, and that keeps a capitalist economy alive and well. In a mass-production industrial economy, we often learn that it is actually cheaper to replace than to fix, and used items are not worth acquiring if new ones are affordable. Instead, if we true capitalists, we should consume and dedicate ouf time to work doing what we do best and what may accrue the best financial results. That means high production and high consumption (preferably using credit). And THAT is exactly what modern capitalism is all about.

That makes sense. Andy appears to be around 7 or 8, maybe 9. Toy Story was released in 1995. This means that Andy was born in the late 80s. Color TV did exist by then. Meanwhile, the Woody TV show was in black and white. The show was likely cancelled during the 60s. This probably was when Andy's dad was a kid! So it's even more likely that Woody belonged to Andy's dad originally, before being passed down.

the only problem i have with jessie having belonged to andys mom is that neither of them in any way acknowledge a past with one another,i.e jessie doesnt say hey she looks familiar,andys mom doesnt say hey i think i used to have that toy,but i really like that theory.
Jeditilifall well Jessie last saw Emily when she was in her early teens so maybe she didn't recognize her as a mid thirties-early forties adult. The mom may have but just never got shown on screen. Not saying it's all true but could explain why.
What don’t make sense is that the hat Andy worn was in the first movie and the creator probably created Jesse in the second movie and used that hat to create her.

That said, I don't get the connection between being materialistic and being Marxist as put forward in the video either. Materialism isn't the thing that makes Marxism different. Both Marxism and capitalism are about the creation and distribution of material wealth. Saying that everyone should have an equal share of the wealth doesn't mean it's less materialistic ... its entire focus is still on ownership of property. Ownership of the means of production. Whether communist or capitalist it's all about the money.

But we can say Andy was behaving in a very capitalist way as far as modern capitalism is concerned (not the ideal and utopian classic liberal capitalism). Andy was a follower of CONSUMERISM, without which modern capitalism cannot exist.
Mad -Pac what you call "classical" capitalism is no more idealistic or utopian than Marxism, therefore referring to either as such is irrelevant. The reality remains that both are equally materialistic in scope.
I will reiterate that I didn't understand the implication that Andy was communist because he was materialistic ... materialism is equally represented both in communism and capitalism, so the implication does not follow.
I do take your point though, that Andy was acting in a very consumerist way, which is a feature of modern capitalist societies ... but my experience of cultures around the world does not suggest that children would act any other way given the option. In point of fact, it seems a very human thing to do.

And from a capitalist point if view, companies that make toys have no interest in a used toys market; they want you to throw away the stuff you have so you buy new stuff so they can keep producing more and more stuff, and that keeps a capitalist economy alive and well. In a mass-production industrial economy, we often learn that it is actually cheaper to replace than to fix, and used items are not worth acquiring if new ones are affordable. Instead, if we true capitalists, we should consume and dedicate ouf time to work doing what we do best and what may accrue the best financial results. That means high production and high consumption (preferably using credit). And THAT is exactly what modern capitalism is all about.

That makes sense. Andy appears to be around 7 or 8, maybe 9. Toy Story was released in 1995. This means that Andy was born in the late 80s. Color TV did exist by then. Meanwhile, the Woody TV show was in black and white. The show was likely cancelled during the 60s. This probably was when Andy's dad was a kid! So it's even more likely that Woody belonged to Andy's dad originally, before being passed down.

the only problem i have with jessie having belonged to andys mom is that neither of them in any way acknowledge a past with one another,i.e jessie doesnt say hey she looks familiar,andys mom doesnt say hey i think i used to have that toy,but i really like that theory.
Jeditilifall well Jessie last saw Emily when she was in her early teens so maybe she didn't recognize her as a mid thirties-early forties adult. The mom may have but just never got shown on screen. Not saying it's all true but could explain why.
