- EuroAsian Bob has knocked it out of the park with this car. He's found a 1996 850 Turbo Volvo with just 15K miles. It's as close to showroom quality as you can get. The CAR WIZARD 🧙♂️ is absolutely shocked with the new-car details it still has.

Great video Wizard! Thanks again for your fantastic service!!!
What do you guys think about this time capsule?
WHAT A FIND! WOW. I got to have some real fun in one of these back in the day and they are great fun indeed. To see one in this condition was really cool!.
I love it.
I'd be envious if it were a wagon.
Jealous of your score! I'm a long time Volvo shade tree for 20 years. Soooo mint!
Here is my detailed video overview on the Volvo!
ruclips.net/video/HE7VyCJj4iw/видео.html
It will outlive any modern car
DONT LET HIM RESET THE TRIP WITH THE CAR MOVING it'll break the little gear in the instrument cluster and it'll always have 15k miles on it
Maybe that is why it only has 15k on it.
This is the case with most European cars
@@markmonroe7330 Unlikely. 7:48 you can see theres 136 or something miles on the trip counter. If that gear was broken it would say 0. Seeing lots of those on the used car market...
Did not know that
nah
Love it! I had this car in grey in the 90s. I gave it to my daughter for her 16th birthday and she hit a light pole racing another car a month later. She was fine. People keep telling me cars go bad if you don't drive them so I am confused about that.
There was a funny story about these in the British touring car championship. Volvo didnt have any sedan bodies ready so they tested a wagon body in the wind tunnel. Turned out it made more downforce than the sedan and could still reach the same weight requirements. Everybody was laughing at the wagon but it quickly became popular until a rule change allowing rear wings made the wagon body downforce advantage obsolete.
I love a good sleeper wagon😅
I love older Volvo wagons.
I specifically wanted a 240 wagon as my first car, and It was... and I love the 740 and 940 wagons. I love the angles.
I want another.
The better story is about why the wing and splitter were allowed for the 95 season and onwards. Alfa Romeo won the 1994 season with Tarquini because unlike the other cars, the 155 TS was homologated with the splitter and spoiler appearing in the cars that were sold acording to homologation rules. What they did was smart, they had the splitter, technically, in the car, but it was pulled all the way back because you wouldn't need that in the road going version. They also had a spoiler that you could put in the boot and not simply use it. The cars they were required to sold technically had these parts so the BTCC Alfa could too, and so they did. That's why they won pretty much all races it entered. But for 1995, the 155 was never on the podium even once. They allowed the splitters and spoilers for all cars so everyone ran them 1995 and onwards. The 850 wagon no longer had the edge, since the wagon shape would not allow for much of a spoiler, at least not the kind that would meet the regulations. So they changed over to the sedan, and over the years they started churning out better and better results but unfortunately for the 850 it never won the championship. The S40 eventually did.
While the wagon was a neat car, I had a 850 too, the fact is that it wasn't especially well performing. They did some very smart things with the cylinder head angle and other stuff but ultimately they were too new to the game at that point, the platform was too new and they kind of had to get used to it over the 1994 season. While TWR was a great motor racing name, they were up against the Williams Renault. Back then Williams was hot shit, so nobody could really touch the Laguna. During the 1990-1999 Williams would either be 1st or 2nd in the F1 championship so to bring that kind of know how to BTCC, other teams must of felt hopeless.
Regardless the 5 cylinder race engine from the 850 managed to get Volvo the championship in 1998. Even when facing against the giants of the day.
This is true but you're leaving out the part where Volvo 'interpreted' the rules differently (cheated their asses off) and tuned the engine to make way more power than was legal. Nothing could touch the Volvo on the straights, it would walk cars. They changed the rules soon after. Volvo was having a laugh back in the early 90s.
@@vandecar15 they didn't cheat, they just followed the letter of the rules. The rules said you had to use a production head and weren't allowed to change valve angles, so instead they mounted the production head at an angle, the rules said you weren't allowed to weld on the head so they bolted stuff on instead. It was checked every race and always proved to be within regulations
@@vandecar15 aaah, come on, everybody cheated as much as they could and dared. The fact that it was even possible to make these engines churn out that kind of power was testament to the old Volvo doctrine of by principle making everything more durable than anyone else ever did.
That is glorious! As a serial Volvo owner, I love this car. That 5-pot engine is a wonderful thing. I’d pay serious money for this. Volvos of this era are often one-offs - the options list was bewildering and most were made to order. This is a real time machine.
As a Swede I love Volvo my family has almost always drive Volvo my mother hit a 300kg moose one time with a 940 station wargon the car got totaled but she got out of the car without a scratch.
Volvo 940 🐻❄
i hit moose in audi and repair audi in volvo i must totaled...
They did test the cars using elk
absolute fantastic car, is that not a T5 Volvo, pity Ford had to get involved with them. nice to see genuine parts being used, keep up the good work both of you Mr and Mrs Wizard.
While ford did “own” them they could not domesticate them. So say my S60, C30 etc.
*from WHEN Volvos were Volvos*
What a marvellous car. I hope the new owner takes some real special care of it. It deserves to be preserved with minimum use, to keep its brand new soul!
Thank you for sharing, Wizard and Mrs Wizard.
These made in netherland front wheels drive cars are not real volvos.
Just more modern DAF:s.
True classic Volvo is rear wheel drive and made in sweden.
@@suomenpresidentti
Gent in Belgium, but also Gothenburg, Sweden. The DAF-era was 300 & 400-series. The most fun car I've ever had was in fact a mint condition low mile 460 but declared dead by annual road inspection thanks to zero rust proofing from factory
@@suomenpresidentti The 850 Turbo wasn't manufactured in the Netherlands. They were all Torslanda made.
@A RUclipsr I get your point, but if we thought like that, many cars from 80, 90 or 100+ years ago would be absolutely extinct or not as good anymore, as the ones which were preserved like new. But I've got your point. It's valid.
I remember Volvos and Saabs had some of the most comfortable seats combining soft leathers and proper cushioning
They still do. More scientifically ergonomic today but still very comfortable.
Best seats there is!
was going to comment this
Yep, had two Saab 9000's and on my second Volvo V70..supremely comfortable all four.
my s60r has the most comfortable car seat i’ve ever sat in
I've only owned about 8 of these cars, my current daily is a 1996 855 Turbo with a manual swap, 16T turbo, tuned, and it currently has 147k miles. These are by far some of the best cars to work on and drive every day. Definitely going to keep it on the road as long as I can!
Yes sir wagon gang! Gonna put an 18T On my burgundy 95 estate
I had a red 1996 Volvo 850R wagon a few years ago and I absolutely loooooved it. I lived in an apartment at the time and couldn't justify keeping it alongside my normal daily driver car, but it was in great condition and would stop car shows whenever I showed up with it. I miss it immensely, but I ended up selling it to another Volvo enthusiast who drove 5 states to come get it and he still regularly sends me photos. Knowing it's in good hands and getting taken care of eases the pain a bit.
The thing did a better job starting up in the bitter cold of winter than any other car I've ever owned, and had zero rust whatsoever despite being from MA! It was also extremely easy to work on and not at all expensive to repair for what it was.
Those were awesome.
No rust because its body is mostly aluminum, for Swedish weather.
The 90s were the best era for Volvo. Least till '99.
I daily drive an 850 2.4. If i were you i'd just sell the normal daily, because to me an 850R wagon is a very sensible daily car 🤣
@12:40 The rear suspension might not look like much, but it's actually a really sophisticated setup. It was called the "Delta Link" and was a compromise between fully independent rear suspension and a beam. It allowed for passive rear wheel steering which reduced the turning circle and made the 850 quite nimble for the size of car that it was. All front wheel drive 850s, 1st gen S70s and V70s were fitted with this setup.
The build quality on these cars is absolutely incredible, I had one from 1995 with just about 250k miles on the clock and the engine was completely leak free. It looks like it still had all the original seals. No structural rust either, the entire subframe didn't even have surface corrosion.
Remember volvo invented the safety belt, and then gave away the patent for everybody to use because they thought every car should have them
Great name.... and you beat me to it 😀
It’s lovely, my brother worked in a Volvo dealership and I would see these out on test drives . I’m glad Volvo parts were used and kept factory. It deserves it
Came here from the Mazda engine head disaster. I feel much better now.
You can set the hood into a Service Position like on some Mercedes .
It makes working under the Engine hood so much easier
I did my apprentice and master mechanic first years on These types of Volvo.. also the 940, 960.... and the C70, V70, S70, S90, S80...
I love these older types.... such timeless diamants
Keep them alive 👌🍀
That's an 850 Turbo Platinum Edition. They only imported 1,500 of them to the USA for one year only in 1996. I've only ever seen one in person before.
I just love these old volvo's
Damn I love this car. Brings me back memories of high school when I was still driving my 95 850 GLT (non-turbo but the engine still sounded amazing)
I also had a 850 GLT, amazing engine! Heaven between 4000 and 7200 rpm.... 🦄❤️🚀
I had the 850R wagon version, or estate as we call it. The 5 cylinder turbo was sweet. They were great to watch in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
I wish we had something like the BTCC in the States. 🙁
That Volvo is amazing. Unbelievable how clean that car is
Had a 960 turbo, great car and fast
Damn thing looked like a blue angel fighter jet, with wing in back + bue passing through Pensacola FL (G Navy
That is a Platinum Edition...super RARE!! I had the wagon version, that 5 cyl turbo growl...so awesome.
There are fanatical Volvo owners that are drooling right now. That thing is a true "time capsule"
I grew up in a Volvo family and have always loved them. My first car out of the Army was a beautiful S80 T6. It was incredible until it became "not incredible" with the repair costs. I had a great 3 years before it started acting up
Nice Volvo, but two remarks: all rubber parts (hoses, seals, etc.) should be replaced; I prefer RWD Volvos: they're somewhat less complex and much handier. And a classic Volvo is (almost always) a wagon...
I worked at a Toyota/Volvo dealer in 92'/93' when these 850's came out. It was a game changer for Volvo. They were going away from the strait lines that the 240 was famous for. The Turbo was nice. Good sounding 5 cylinder. I started looking at Volvos differently after these. Now, however. It's a different story.
The 4 cyl engine that Volvo is using is a disaster in my opinion.
Volvos are even better. But those 5 cylinders were perfect
@@fredwiley3731 I think that basically any modern 2.0L 4 cyl is horrible. Most uninspiring engines ever. And with modern customers wanting more and more horsepower they are stressed for what they are. Turbos, superchargers etc. Of the modern Volvo engines, the understressed ones are still good and reliable. Such as the T4/B4 and T5/B5 which only has a rather low pressure turbocharger. They are boring but reliable. The T6 from before with turbo and supercharger are not very good. In Sweden we even have a T3/B3 on modern Volvos which is only like 150hp and I believe they are naturally aspirated. Those engines are quite reliable too.
Only a reliable dealer like Bob would put that work into that car. Most would just put it on the lot as is
@Dennis W yeah I love people like Euroasian Bob and The car wizard who care for cars the right way. Here in Canada nobody gives Jack s*** about taking care of anything. You gotta deal with more expensive car parts and finding out that a part is only shipped to the US. Canada may be nice but automotive necessities here are pretty terrible with more shipping fees and stuff. I’m literally the only person in my whole neighborhood out of like 400 people that even vacuumes their car and rinses the road salt off of it in winter. Then my neighbors, when their car rusts out they wonder “huh wonder why that happened”, all dumb when they’ve seen how I rinse the salt off my car every 2 weeks in winter. I say, do what I do and you’ll save tens of thousands of dollars from buying a new car because it’s somehow it’s “own” fault that it rusts out. My point is, I wish I saw more people take care of their stuff here in Canada.
In Sweden we only like the wagon model. The sedans , you get allmost for free. No one wants them. But this example is a bit different. Nice. ☕🍩
Thanks from the volvo country. 👍🇸🇪
As an American I would only want the wagon too.
Ahh driven many of them when i worked with Volvo.. love these 5 cylinders
Sitting here in Sweden and thinking "rare?" =)
These are twice the price of other cars rare in USA.
Sitting here in Finland, and these are getting VERY pricey😮 I've seen good examples go for more than 10 000 €/$ easily
I owned this car back in the day. Sold mine at 200K and it was one of the best cars I ever owned.
Shame it burst it's loins when they crash tested it. The firewall burst and there was a sharp tear in the floorpan.
I have always wanted a 850 t5 r manual wagon. I was in high school when they came out and just thought how sexy they looked and could keep up with a vette.
Extremely nice car, those are in huge value already and just rising. A 513km 960 from same era went at 35000$ in Sweden last year. This is probably same money.
As a tip from person that has done a lot (probably tens or close to 100) of belts on these whiteblocks (the belt job is basically same on 4/5/6cyl 90's to late 2000's), there is a TDC mark on the crank sprocket, but it is VERY tiny and extremely hard to see. It has a ridge to meet on the oil pump housing behind the belt when engine is at 1.cyl TDC.
There are marks on the cam pulleys as well, the ones that are at 45degree angle inclined against each other, so NOT at 12'o clock. Had a car that came to me that way, the guy who had swapped the belt had wrecked the engine.
Waterpump is good to swap when that old even if it looks good, the seal isn't definetly at its best anymore, even if it has no play. The dealers at least here don't swap them unless a lot of miles or leaks. I did mine at 394000km and it was original from 1998.
I love "boring" cars like this one! What an absolutely beautiful example of this car too!
If you drove one you wouldn't think it was boring. 🙂
If there ever would be a car to own and store away into showroom.. this would be it.
THAT ENGINE IS SO CLEAN I COULD EAT MY DINNER OFF THAT ENGINE
You're the only Mechanic in America 🇺🇸 that has the Notable Honor of working on
That superb Master Piece...
I worked at the Volvo NA Headquarters when the 850 came. It was one of the most exciting Volvos to come out. In 1993 there was no turbo but they sent one from Sweden. They let every employee drive it for 24 hours..
I remember seeing a lot of 850 wagons. That was towards the end of the station wagon era, before SUVs took over. This was a Volvo that had some real performance.
Wagons are still better than SUVs, but people fall for advertising over reality.
I had two of these, one wagon and one sedan. Both were the "R" version and had the Group 6 chips to overboost the turbo. They were fun, lots of torque steer off the line, I even tracked the wagon once with a little yellow "baby on board" triangle stuck on the back window. I'm sure people wondered what blew by them on the straightaways...
I use to drive one of those, but I am from Sweden.
Wow. I had a ‘97 GLT. It was a winter car, but it looked brand new. The paint was such that you could buff those things to a shine (non metallic) no matter what. Coincidentally, I just tossed out the OEM turn signals yesterday. I took them out years ago to replace them with clear corners. I still have the roof load bars.
Poor little Volvo, driven less than 600 miles a year. 😢
I hope the next owner drive it a lot more than that.
Fate... and it's still better than an accident.
Hey Wizard & Mrs Wizard, you're right, Euroasian Bob hit it out of the park with this Volvo, it's spectacular!!! 👍👍🙂
So nice find. And so good decision to repair it with the original parts.
15k miles. no wonder it looks like brand new 😀 my 850 now has 250,000 miles. these cars are meant to be driven
What justification does someone have for buying such an expensive car and then getting almost no use out of it, then selling it at a loss of tens of thousands of dollars? What kind of money are professors making that they can afford to make such horrible investments?
He forgot to flush the brake fluid, engine oil and filter as well as trans fluid.
That is too much trouble for the Wiz.
He'll do as requested by Euro Bob; if Bob wants this work I'm sure CW will oblige
Silly fact...Volvo invented the seat belt, but allowed all car manufactures to use it patent free as they considered human life to be more valuable than profit.
What a tank
15,000 on a 96, dang. Me dad had 89 740, 96 850, and 06 XC90. ALL good vehicles.
Thanks
These, mid-1990's Volvo's are one of the best vehicles ever made in the world. I am hoping that the Car Wizard will have another rare vehicle at Omega Auto Clinic in the near future. I am definitely wishing it will be the 2004 Isuzu Rodeo 4WD mid-size SUV with the 3.5 L V6 engine, which produces 250 horsepower and with the four-speed automatic transmission. I would like to own one of these Isuzu's someday. Thank you very much.
Cars from the 90s was the end of car evolution. It all went downhill from there. Especially quality.
Absolutely
Awesome car, I remember some friends parents having a silver wagon. Very cool car
It might be wise to check the crank case pressure. The pcv systems can go bad if these don't drive long distances. If it goes bad, that's when you get oil leaks. RobertDIY has some good videos explaining it in detail.
I had a 1997 960 non turbo. It was a rear wheel drive but a totally awesome car
The end of this video felt like a Price is Right scene. "A brand new car! But that's not all Chuck! They'll also be getting this Kitchen Aid mixer! And for when the family goes home, a brand new living room set!"
I love Volvos. Nice beauty. The wizard will take care of that belt. And service her. She's a gem. I would buy her if I could. Cool. ❤❤😎👍
What a beauty - thanks for the experience. Keep up the excellent videos Mr and Mrs Car Wizard.
As one of those weird Volvo people…I love it! First few years of the whiteblock engine, what a legendary series of motors!
Believe it or not, these older Volvos from the 90s almost never rust out. Even if they've been exposed to northeastern winters! As for timing belt service intervals, I believe that Volvo recommends every 70k or every 8-10 years, whichever comes first!
Can confirm. My 96 has lived in Ohio its entire life and doesn't have a drop of body rust. Underneath there is some, and the rear brake calipers almost look fossilized, but they still work great!
The turbo brick, police over here supposedly loved them, decent amount of power for catching baddies and all the room you need for police equipment.
You could sell that car to James May given the perfect original condition it's in, it certainly would stay clean!
As long as James doesn't take it for an African safari...
Not a fan of reusing that tensioner. The Volvo timing belt kit used to come with the additional tensioner but they stopped including it recently due to a parts shortage.
A taxi driver once drove me in this. Its quick
Volvo 850, the original and first 'People Mover Car' - preferred by poorer Jewish Orthodox families with many children, those who not afford the station wagon! No crumbs no potato chips? Not a Jewish owned car!
It’s such a lovely piece, if I could buy it, I would and put to the other three Volvos in the garage! Thanks for the Supadupa video 😊
I have one similar to this, Estate, manual, non turbo. Father bought it new in April 2000. Now on 49986 miles. Very nice but not as nice as this one. Its worth about £2500 in the UK (About $3000?)
I guess a US car of the same spec etc would be worth considerably more. Good older cars are creeping up in value here, but nothing like where you are.
I love the unique five cylinder noise these things emit. It is a good compromise between a four and six cylinder and makes for a high powered front wheel drive with an inline engine where you can access all the spark plugs with ease.
Wizard, that is a super rare "Platinum" edition! There were only a few hundred imported to the U.S. that year. I have the wagon version of it. You had one in your shop about a year ago or less.
hope u change the thermostat and all hoses as well.. and fluids
Urination-Bob really did a god job on this one.
Shame that Wichita KS is 650 miles west of me... Great content; kudos to Ms. Wizard for her contributions.
Nice Volvo - Ultra nice
I live in upstate new york, this is in unreal condition and definitely babied
Probably owned by a retired family that spends winters in Florida.
These 850's are called "Platinum's." Believe that was the paint color/package on top of the normal "Turbo" trim level. Its gorgeous tho! I had a 96 850 R for many years, its the car responsible for my love-affair with Volvo's and I've never been Volvo-less ever since. Whoever buys this car is getting a gem, 850's are fantastic cars.
Volvos are awesome
The last of the great Volvos.
The new ones are electronics nightmares,I had a 960 3.0 straight 6,the easiest timing belt to change,I think it took me two hrs,had the posi track rear diff option,I lived on rough dirt roads, never had a rattle..
This was the 2nd car I ever owned. Fantastic vehicle.
As a huge Volvo fan - this is Nirvana! Wow. I can’t believe how clean it is - it really is like new.
@RichieSA77 oh yeah? I saw a cleaner one in midnight blue driving down the highway here in British Columbia 3 weeks ago. It was UNBELIEVABLE. I was freaking out how dam awsome and sick it was, there was day insurance on it, and I’ll BET that the driver was driving it back from a storage facility. It was in astounding condition. I’m willing to bet it’s the cleanest 90’s car in British Columbia. Seriously.
Kind of sad that it was never driven
Late last year there was a 2000 S70 with 14k miles available for sale in PA. Basically the same condition as this 850. It took everything in me not to buy a one way plane ticket to philly.
I hope brake fluid flush is also done Wizard... As like as all the other fluids (ok, we can skip the windshield washer one...)
I have a 850R from 1996. It has 470000 km and still going strong.
The only way this could have gotten any better was if it had been a wagon.
Yep!
Wow! This Absolute Time Capsule '96 850 Turbo Volvo is truly a sight to behold.
Such a beautiful car…….had a friend of mines dad had one……it was a tank, but was fast for the time…..
Owned one for 5yrs 96 850 NA best seats Nice car.
Yes ,Volvo has some of nicest seats comfy AF !
What a beautiful car from the end of the golden era of engineering lead manufacturing.
I hope this gets a great price and will be respected and treasured by the next owner.
I had this exact same car - I beat the hell out of it drove it like crazy and never had a single serious malfunction.
They literally don`t build like they used to.
I wish they made a 2023 revamp of this car.
This car is just amazing and makes my 360,000 mile T5-R feel even worse!!! The dash is absolutely trashed, needs every suspension part and rubber replaced, turbo, wheel bearings, ect. But man it motivates me to get her right. The t5r is a rare bird. This sold for 25k on BAT and normally I’d call insanity but it’s a platinum and highly optioned turbo. Price was actually fair but well sold
That Turbo 4 Valve 5 Cylinder is just incredible. For my money it is one of the best engines ever. Tremendous response, good mileage, smooth and FAST. And Volvo interiors are really comfortable. This proves keeping your car out of the sun is the best way to preserve it. The same car if left in the elements will have its interior just fall apart as the plastics and adhesives decay. That said it is not rare at all to see a 30 year old Volvo on the road. Just excellent "heirloom" cars. Perfect for a kid's first car. You know it won't break down and will survive an collision. They're boxy but they're safe. Well the old ones. The new ones are quite pretty.
@Dennis Fahey if that was my car i would wax it with paste wax every 3 months and apply 303 protectant to the interior every 3 months as well. Care for it like a brand new car basically, if not care for it more
A new young driver should be in the most recent modern car a family can afford. The latest safety technology beats age every time, given the car was built for safety in the first place.
British Fifth Gear slammed a small Renault Modus into an old 940 wagon 15 years ago. The Renault won that fight despite facing a Swedish family tank head on. Video on YT is a quite telling story.
The worst fear right now would be the Chinesium cars getting international traction. Cheap. Looks modern. Are total junk and absolutely deadly.
You are right, those engines are indestructible and very reliable. When volvo introduced the new 2.0 litres VEA -engines the problem began.I had taxi company in Stockholm for 30 years and I have some experience about volvo.
@@georgiosevangelou9258
370 000 km on my 2.5FT. Runs like a champ, original turbo even.
and big fuel consumption... good for usa not sweden
That motor is extremely robust and makes tons of torque. Love this engine. Had it in my 2007 S60. That car was super fun to drive.
I'm a student and I drive a '99 V70, basically the same car with a slightly different body. The engine bay stuns me, my car is maintenance wise in pristine condition but this is really next level. It still has a whole life in front of it. Mine currently has 355k km (~221k miles), they can easily drive 600k km and some are even above a million (625K miles)
Thats a beautiful car Wizard. And very very fast. The Police in the U.K used too use them on the Motorways during the 1990's. 😊😊 Great video again Wizard 😊
Omg. That Volvo is actually brand bloody New. Wizard how much does one of those Volvo T5's 850 turbos cost today. I would love too be at that Auction 😊😊😊
I've owned a 94 base model 850 5 spd manual, a 97 850 R, both brand new from the dealer, and finally a 96 base model 850 5 spd manual wagon. The 97 I loved until the wiring on the radiator shorted out and caused a fire the wiped out the entire engine compartment. The 96 I bought with 142k miles and drove it to 406,xxx where it cracked a valve and said no more. It drove but it was time to buy a new car at that point. I loved the 97 the most. Issues with these cars: Rear main leak at 142k on these cars, odometer gear breaks, dash mounts are plastic and break at the first really cold spell after which you have a creaky dash, the 850 R suspension is very stiff, rides like it's on rails but needs taller sidewalls rather than the skinny 17's. Other than that, great cars. Never understood why they put cup holders directly over the top of the door switches. This white pearl 96 is a very nice car.
I saw one of these babies in traffic once, on my way back from home (Saratoga, NY), to take a test at my graduate school (NewHaven, CT). Must've been 1996. Traffic was in a standstill north of Hartford. There was a brand new black 960 in the outside lane; with the dealer sticker still glued to the rear passenger window. Amazing car.
In any event, I can testify to the crush zones on that car. A Chevy blazer began to coast up on the rear of the Volvo and hit it at about 15-20mph. The collision turned the Volvo into a perfectly square box. Both the rear and the front of the vehicle collapsed, just like in the roof-drop commercial.
The lady in the Volvo was not injured, nor the Chevy Blazer, for that matter. However, that Volvo went from a gorgeous sports sedan to a Swedish box in the blink of an eye.
Beautiful car...
Nice car, I'd drive the heck out of that awesome sleeper? That's my kind of vehicle, an old grocery getter, with a little spice under the hood? It's too rare and mint to beat, though? We can all dream of finding a low mileage example of anything we are interested in?
That leather and seats look a lot like the ones I have in my 2010 C30 :)
That "little screen" is a information screen which is switched to the various information readouts by the switch on the dash marked as INFO. Moving the switch provides info such as instant mpg, avg. mpg, distance to empty, time, a separate trip ODO, temperature. It's very accurate.
2:45 A full sized spare will fit in the trunk. Remove the spacers around the compact temporary spare tire.
I had one of these in wagon form...'96 855T5...from 2004 to 2010. Tough to say "best," but pretty damn close. Bought with 139K, sold with 188K, took from Wyoming to Turkey (😲) to Albuquerque, and only sold thanks to another overseas military assignment. At 15K, safe to say this one will last another 200K mi easy. Oh, and forget $4K...mine was bought for $3300 at auction and sold for $2800 6 years later. Not sure we'll see prices like that again...🥺
