For those who are interested in maxing out the SP/ DAW functionality’s (like Ableton)there is a dude named Robot Orchestra who does all kinds of sorcery with this thing. As always Matt, great video
Your roland SP series is amazing, super useful, well structured and enjoyable. This unit is very nice and sounds amazing. Not a fan of the Beam, but the FX are incredible. Good job!
There are 8 synths bruv. 1-8 and 9-16 are different delays/reverbs. Just hold down the synth button to select different ones. Same goes for the filter. It has 3.
Hello, guys! I have one of this and I really like it but... Anyone here having trouble with MacOS Catalina to recognize this unit? Any workaround already known?? Thanks in advance!!
Also keep the I/o inputs.... they are about the best of the SP bunch and Roland, PLEASE try to work with MS and Apple this time in regards to USB functionality and don’t leave it twisting in the wind like the 606 and the 555
friend, a question How is the beat of the machine exported in pattern mode? Or specifically how to record the full length beat and effects on a separate pad from Pattern mode?
I used to have one of these, but found it very awkward to work on. Just used the D-Beam filter on a couple of DJ gigs and the drum pads for "fun". Never buying anything with that kind of display again, no display or something usable for me. Also the drum pads were terrible, double triggering alllll the time. Are the pads on the 606 any better or same thing?
I've never had issues with double triggering myself but I'll say I think the pads on the 555 are better than the ones on the 606. Not dramatically better but they are larger and a little easier for me to work with IMO. The d beam filter is great. I use it in live shows myself.
I still believe this might be the best SP sampler out there..next to the underrated SP 505

Glad you enjoy it!
This is a great video! If you happened to make another SP-555 video with greater detail, I’d watch it probably 15 times.

Next Roland Device:
SP 999
Same Shape and Functions of the 555
Waveform Display
Multitrack Audio over USB
Add in chromatic pitching and I'd be all over that.
Oh and remove that DBeam!
Expand the synth parameters and make it playable by the pads. Keep the filter but just make it a knob.
@@MattGreerMusic that's it!

I'm on the fence about one of these because everything I've seen so far was lo-fi, but this actually has a bit of sheen potential. Nice jam.
In my experience it will reproduce anything you sample into with the same fidelity as your source (if you want it to).
That's a good way to use it.
I got a sp 555 in wonderful condition. I'm in the states on East Coast. If your interested get at me. I'm asking $550 for it. Plus shipping.
@@dr.zarkov5838 wrong side of the Atlantic I'm afraid
