I think it makes sense to have hearty meals cost 5 regular food items, since it serves as a "food sink" once the prices of food become cheap enough that the 5-to-1 ratio doesn't matter, so it serves as an upward pressure for demand when prices are low enough to make the QoL of hearty meals affordable.
One demographic for whom hearty meals will be an actual power gain (and not just QoL) will be people pushing tight M+ keys. If you don't have that, and you die in a key, you have to either spend 10 seconds eating your food (which may sometimes mean that your teammates will need to wait for you), or give up your food buff after a death.

during mythic prog my guild could wipe 30-50 times in 3 hours depending on the length of the pulls. so 1:5 on feasts and only using 3 feasts a night will be nice.

Hearty meals will be good for the first month or so of each season, while most people is working on raid progression and learning M+ mechanics but, once most people are done dying often, its demand and value will drop considerably imo.

Hearty meals are warbound, so personal responsibility to provide that for your party/raid group (so like cauldrons in DF).

@@NabilStendardo Thanks for the info, didn't know about it being WB. Then its as you say, personal value more than anything else. It might help guilds/M+ organized gropus economies at the beginning of each season by reduce the amount of feasts used, but nothing else.

Legion and before i would make tons of gold with cooking but since them, (due to tables) the amount gained is not worth the effort which could be used to craft potions or gems etc. I loved cooking but the last 2 xpacs let me down

Question about hearty meals. Is it only personal meals or does it work with the shareable feasts?
