54 years old . Been lifting for the last six years and of all the compound lifts this is the best and probably the most difficult. But no need to use a ton of weight if this is new to someone or hard to do . Just start out with the barbell and get technique and form down and even increased minimal progressive overload will yield results

Until today, I have strived for that 6 pack...but no longer. I will embrace my "power belly" and be thankful for all that it provides. Perspective is everything!

Another great video Brian. I really like your philosophy of teaching people what works for you but then encouraging them to work out what will ultimately work for them. Too many you tube trainers have the "mine is the only way" mentality. Your approach is very refreshing. Thanks again for sharing your experience and knowledge.

In strongman competitions, do you have the right to get it overhead however you can? What I mean is, can you clean it behind the back and from back rack position push/press/jerk it overhead ("Arthur Lift")? This is very important for me to know. I would really appreciate an answer! Best regards!

  • @AndrewArifakis
    @AndrewArifakis 7 лет назад

Brian, with a normal clean and press, the barbell makes contact with the body (usually around the upper thigh/hip) and then begins to travel upward. Is the beginning on the continental clean, more of a high pull (no contact) to as high as you can get it?

Question about the final T-Rex clean into front rack position - do you squeeze the axel and actually rotate it in your hands as you do the clean or allow your hands to rotate around the axel and just catch it on your shoulders?

+Brian Alsruhe haha good cause everyone says that weight lifting stunts your growth. I know there's no evidence of that but it's not really something you can research properly. But if you have bad height genetics and you still made it 6 ft which isn't short then it's all good.

That looks like such an awkward lift to do. Makes it that much more impressive though.

Is it allowed to wear a fake belly under your shirt to help you lift the bar ? :)

And I just upgraded gyms, they have axles, my back hates you already!
And they have stones, and while sandbag to shoulder is close, it's not the same! Humbling lesson today!

Continental push and press you mean...

"Continental clean" is a contradiction in terms. If its a continental. it is ipso facto NOT clean.

I don't have the wrist mobility for this lift. I can't even front squat without crossing my arms! #stiffwrist

It isn't easy, that is for sure. But I'm almost 40...It all depends on what you are strung to do. If you are not planning on competing in strongman then I would avoid it!

Hey brian, you're out of hoodies in LARGE size dude. I really want to attract the opposite sex and I believe a hoodie is going to help greatly.
Also wouldn't mind a t-shirt for that 1 day it's warm in my country.

Hahah those are all sold out and are not coming back man. We only do a limited supply, and once they are gone, they are gone. But we are releasing some new shirt designs in a week or two.

You make the flip far too easy. The t-rex clean is absolutely the hardest part of the lift.
