  • In the continuation of this series, we keep on tearin' the skeleton down to the bones. This includes battery removal, wrestling the carb out, a bit of a carb spray down, and a quick dive into the XT250 manual. We find how useful it is and continue on with a standard valve adjustment.

It's good when we learn who to work on a bike like the video
Try to remove the intake with curb than the curb will come out easy

At roughly 4:21 in the video, I see you hand operated the butterfly on the carb. I did the same thing after draining the fuel (or so I thought). There is more fuel sitting inside the carb and it only comes out when the accelerator pump lever moves. Unfortunately I was looking down the throat of the carb when the pump lever moved. I sprayed gasoline into my eyes! FYI, the spray of fuel was strong enough to go 12 feet across my shop.

Enjoyed the video, I’m working on the exact same bike but I’ve been having issues getting it to start. Any luck for you?

Yeah, thats one of the main reasons I decided to tear it down. Carb has some weird issues where it has been clearly tampered with. Been meaning to get the 3rd video up where I dive into it more. What are your symptoms? Mine is running very rich. It will turn over easily but will not idle.

@@superstitionlabs8111 Thanks for responding! I just got it started last week but my symptoms were low compression and dirty carb. Ended it up lapping the valves and cleaning the piston. Fired right up!
I'm assuming you already did, but have you inspected the jets?
      Good luck to you!

@@bigal6951 Awesome! How’s she running now? My valves are pretty clean although I did have to do a minor adjustment. Glad to hear you got her started!

@@superstitionlabs8111 Running well, except now I notice that it only runs on choke. Gonna take apart the carb again and check the jets. Specifically the idle jet.
