I've been listening to Clapton for a good 35+ years, maybe close to 40. One thing that really strikes me is the guy's unmatched guitar virtuoso abilities have always somewhat overshadowed the fact that he has an absolutely tremendous voice as well, and one that has remained undiminished over all the years.
I thought I would never say this, Clapton has always been #1 for me, but I just heard Prince play "My guitar weeps", and I must say...that man can play a guitar! I never knew.
One of the greatest guitar solo's ever....short, to the point, intense, perfectly phrased, perfect tone....puts an army of Metal/Shred/Meat-heads to shame!
tiegooo I shouldn't be so mean....I like a good shredding session (do it myself sometimes...), but I do believe it takes "more" to compose/execute a shorter solo like this....a good example of a supreme short/shred solo would be Mathias Jabs (Scorpions) on "Rock You Like a Hurricane"...
+james parker Yer right, similar, great vibe...I get a good "facsimile" Gilmour tone on my little cube amp: "rectifier" amp setting, "gain" all the way, "tone" about 7 oclock, a little slap echo + some flange, and away i go! Btw, did you know Gilmour played lead on McCartney's "No More "lonely Nights"? It adds some nice metal "crunch" to one of Macca's "silly love songs", lol!
One of my favourite Clapton songs! Features Jeff porcaro on drums and Steve lukather on rhythm guitar! Nathan east on bass lenny castro on percussion! Ted templeman on timbales! Marcy Levy on backing vocals! Cool tune!
The little solo in this song inspired my love of guitar years ago. Amazing tone, and incredible musicality! I wish there were more musicians that listened to Clapton these days.
Yes, clearly Clapton's best video. It's from the WB/Polygram compilation "The Cream of Eric Clapton". What a lineup! Veteran Marcy Levy on vocals, the gifted Tim Renwick on guitar, Porcaro on drums, and the best rock bass player ever, Donald Dunn, from Booker T and the MGs. It doesn't get any better than this.
+Mick Addison (Mickyboy) Absolutely Happy Birthday. Among other times I've seen Clapton, I was lucky enough to go to the GuitarFest in Chicago in both 2007 and 2010. Two of the best shows I've ever seen (the best was Fleetwood Mac at the Forum in LA in 1991, too good to describe).
Man i'm relating so hard to this song and it's meaning at the moment. I wish I had the capacity to express all this feelings I've built up over the pass couple of days in a manner such as this. Eric is a genius
You all are going to think this is weird but this is not only my favorite Clapton song, but one of my all time favorite songs. The riff is so simple, but Clapton was/is a master of making the difficult seem simple.
My favorite Clapton tone and solo post D&Ds....He KILLED it..no prisoners...layed waste!!!.... He tuned down to D to play the open E pentatonic phrasing...that and yes, he used a Marshall too...some of his best work right here..no doubt
I remember seeing Eric in concert supporting the release of behind the sun album it was on Seattle in mid to late 1980s and I and my best friend were young 20 somethings. Everytime I hear this music i begin to cry from the loss of my friend who lost his battle with leukemia in 2016. It will be 40 years ago I met him labor day weekend 1979 and later became a lead guitar player with our band. God how i miss him and all that he taught me as a big brother in spirit. I pray for God's love and mercy to watch over us all and remember our lives. Goodbye my friend now you can rest in peace. I miss you Curt, your little brother with love Kevin.
Yes, difinitely Renwick. Yes, distinguished career. Hugely gifted guitarist. Plays with the same brand of passion Clapton does (or did). Teriffic song. Perfect video.
Thank You.! Nice to see that there are other people out there who realize that there are dozens of GREAT players out there today. Most of these people that complain don't have a clue about bands besides the ones that are played on the radio-[Sirius included]
This is one of my all-time favorite songs ever!! Heard it in the car the other night, started speeding and rockin' out bigtime, could not even deal with it, it's such a great tune!!!!
One of the most succesful songs ever written by one the finest guitar players/ songwriters the world has ever known. Jerry Lynn Williams of Fort Worth, Texas. The searing tone of Clapton's guitar is but a remnant of the way Jerry played it.

Mr. Clapton is smooth buddy
I thought I would never say this, Clapton has always been #1 for me, but I just heard Prince play "My guitar weeps", and I must say...that man can play a guitar! I never knew.

+james parker Pink Floyd's What Do You Want From Me is also on similar lines.
+Subbree thanx, I don't think I've heard that, I'll check it out!

The little solo in this song inspired my love of guitar years ago. Amazing tone, and incredible musicality! I wish there were more musicians that listened to Clapton these days.

KPEC3arrival no he was the master of making simple great
Deniz Oktay yeah!
Agreed!!!!
Clapton didn't write the riff or the music. The composer, Jerry Lynn Williams, did.

Great set, terrific instrumentation, and a super-dynamic presentation by the incomparable Eric Clapton. THANK YOU SIR !
I was 26 when this came out. My favorite song by him from the '80's. It's got that damn hook in it that I just cannot resist, to this day.
Thank You.! Nice to see that there are other people out there who realize that there are dozens of GREAT players out there today. Most of these people that complain don't have a clue about bands besides the ones that are played on the radio-[Sirius included]

This NEEDS more views. Fuck the music of today.
This stands up any heavy metal song out there
Pure gold!
This is how a rock song should be sung, & how a rock guitar should be played. Perfection!
