Baby on Board: Our First Days | Sailing Soulianis - Ep. 104

- We leave the dock, woohoo! How far do we make it in the first week? Drumroll, please…four miles! Have we mentioned traveling by boat isn’t exactly fast? Okay, okay, there was a reason: a shipment of parts for our new mainsail had yet to arrive. But still. Sailing is slow even when you aren’t sailing. 😂
Joking aside, this was, in fact, the perfect time to hang out and not go anywhere. As first-time parents, we had our hands full figuring out how to live aboard with a baby. Join us for our first week (and then some) on the water with Renata.
Much love,
Lauren, Kirk & Renata

When Renata smiled at her Daddy it would melt the coldest heart. She is precious!
Brought back memories of the wonder of new babies.
Renata has your eyes Kirk, the rest is all Lauren. Good video. Fun.
Your baby is beautiful! She is so fun to watch. She loved the reflections on top of the winch. She frowned when you brought that piece of toast close to her like she was trying to figure out just what it was. I love how she watched you peel that orange. She looks like she is curious about things more than a baby her age usually is. She is going to learn fast and be smart!
Truman... could not agree with you more!!!! Look at her Peeps.... Im guessing she will be Beautifully( I know she already is)... and going Out on a Limb... will Score Crazy High on her SAT's 17 years from now!!! Im a Risk Taker that way... NOT!!!!!!!!!!
She's a Beautiful Child... with Wonderful Parents... Skys the Limit... No Limits at All !!!!!!!!!! as it should be............
What more can you want? A baby, a lock and an alligator. Heaven. :)
Man, I can't wait till I drop into the water I am super jealous I have had it with all these land dwellers you are literally living your best life what more could you ask for you have your gorgeous family an awesome boat and the rest of the world to see it in now more than ever considering whats going on. I completely understand what you are saying tho how you felt you always had to get off the boat or needed something but either on land or on the water it always ends up that way until you anchor up and realize why you started the journey in the first place so be it a child or gorgeous dinner with the wife and a mountain background in the MED. Every day when I wake up I try to stay in the present time and enjoy the moment because TIME IS THE ONLY NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCE THAT A MAJORITY OF US FORGET ABOUT. Cheers mate keep living the dream and I will see you one day on the anchorage.
welcome back to the soul crew .
This episode was an absolute tonic for all the craziness going on in the world right now. Thank you three so much!
Most of the joys of sailing are from the sharing. You two have just doubled the joy of sailing. Enjoy.
That baby is absolutely beautiful. I love her laughs. Best of luck to you three and stay safe and looking forward to next week. By the way baby is meant for the cameras.❤️
Well Kirk, you are truly living the dream, enjoy, lovely to see all 3 crew together and happy.
In early Feb driving on I43 by Milwaukee, I was thinking about you guys. So glad you guys are back. It can be done with a baby on board. I follow another family with a baby on board slightly older. Congratulations and welcome back.
Yep....you have to be careful to catch that lock at high tide. I went thru once at low tide with a 4'11" draft, ran aground and sat there for hours until the tide came up. The key is to stay to the left after you come out of the lock...it is deeper over there.
Life always moves slower when a baby is involved. This just gives you time to really enjoy baby Renata. Safe sailing
Thanks for sharing these lovely little intimate moments as a family.
I went through several boats till I found a smaller one, a 26 that was really a 27 foot, that had enough headroom for my 6'2" in the main cabin. That was 1988 and It was a 1977 model. in 2008 bought a Watkins "33" that had over 6'8" headroom throughout plus that was a dropped ceiling! Nice and spacious downbelow! Also had a bigger Vberth and bigger quarter berths. Although not considered ocean going. I altered the stern rail to a gate and added a large swim platform that was mounted on two pivots so it could be hauled up underway with the inflateable above it all on the davits. All stainless of course and the platform surface was "plastic wood". I had plans to build a hard dodger but never did it and sold it in 2018. Already had a Morgan Out Island 30 but that sold in 2019
Great to see you back on the salty water folks
I am sooo very happy!! What a wonderful episode. I love you kids!
How lovely your daughter is! You two should be so happy! God Bless your family!
Watching with a smile on my face ~ you guys are doing it great sail on !
The best video yet! Fantastic job!

Truly magical. You have captured the meaning of life, so wonderfully. x

She is absolutely ADORABLE! Congrats again!
Awesome you three!
That was wonderful you three!
Now you have learned the difference between a couple and a family !
This is going to be exciting when she is 3.
so thrilling
Yeaaay you guys are back!!! with a BAAABY :) Enjoy!
Such a happy baby. 🥰
Motoring Soulianis. Glad yall back.
The new main looks amazing! Congratulations and happy sailing!
Well done Soulianis
Good sailing with the little one
Really nice video you guys. At 60 years old, this reminded me of the wonderful times I had with my five babies. So precious.
What a simply peaceful and fun episode ‼️ ✌️ Reminded me of taking our new baby out on our 36 footer in Penobscot Bay, Maine. When he needed to sleep we just put him in the v-birth, head towards the bow and packed cushions and pillows around him and let him rock back-and-forth to the motion of the ocean. Worked every time and mom and dad had time together. What a happy child your daughter is. A real cutie pie ✨ 👼 ✨ 🌸
You have a gorgeous baby, but you've got more guts then we had. We raised 6 daughters and we can't imagine sailing and living on a boat with an infant or even a child. You guys have your work cut out for you and we commend you for being able to do this. Just remember to take time for yourselves and time for you ❤️ to have time together. Your baby is a priority, but it's also very important not to get so involved with the baby you forget to have time as a couple like you did before the baby came into your lives.
Wise words, William, thank you for sharing.
Oh my goodness don't talk about her babybut that way....😂🤣
Adorable, Adorable, Adorable.....
Missed you guys. That is one beautiful baby.
Best video Yet!
.... like how you point out that where you place importance has changed, guess that is some of your values, priorities have shifted .. sounds like for a better life ... Renata is an absolute darling .. there were a couple of times where eyes, eyebrows, upper cheek bones were so you Lauren .... that looks like a mighty fine sail you got yourselves there, definitely not a plane Jane .... gotta say that was pretty sweet, stranded in the canal and dinghied to shore to meet the Publix driver .. yes Kurt, I agree, those Torqeedo outboards are mighty impressive. .... thx for sharing .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ...
Havnt watched for a while, glad you're heading south!
Favorite things of your channel are I think you have 1 of the best coastal cruiser designs and I like all of the inland channel time. Most of my experience is relatively open water so the channels and inland bays are very interesting. All the people promoting multi-hulls would miss out on all of this. I realize you might have changed boats by now but I prefer to live in video time and not know any of those details early.
Thanks for wonderful videos!
Beautiful baby, beautiful day
Such a VERY nice laid-back video guys !!! THANKYOU ! absolutely WONDERFUL ! loafing is GOOD !.....OnWard.....
"Breast Feeding @6 knots." It took 2 weeks to achieve. But, they were a great two weeks of two adults playing with a cute baby in a giant floating play pen. And it made my heart sing to see it.
Baby is awesome and a great sailor, she has great mom & dad sail safe
Man... this video shows you finally got the meaning of this lifestyle down!! Well done!! Great video. And yes...that lock sucks. I'm here in Charlotte harbor. And that thing is always being worked on. Lol
Baby BAMMMMM! I am so glad we are back in the water!
Sweet show !
9:10 This reminds me of two friends of mine that dated each other in high school, went to college together, graduated, got married, went to get their MBAs together and then had their first child and was "mentally sideswiped" when knowing/learning to be first time parents (and then had a 2nd child). They said "you'd think you're smart until you have kids".
You all look so very happy. ♡
Keep up the good work.
Yes we are
She is gorgeous and so precious 💕
Oh I love you guys.
☺️
Can't get enough cute footage of Renata!
You are realizing more than ever how wonderful life is with a child! Enjoy each and every moment because your precious Reatta will be growing up so very fast !
This is so true, by the time she's 20 you'll feel like you just blinked and she instantly grew up.
Zingo your back .good for you three .this is so dam near .
Too cute!!!
Baies are so awesome!
such a neat couple . please , please , please remember that the crouch strap on toddlers / baby's life jackets is a must have , must fit item . I have seen toddlers fall right out the bottom of life jackets and although I didn't withes this one it ended tragically . this may seem a small thing it is only until it is not .
sorry to be an alarmist but it is because I care .
calm seas and fair winds .
Ranada is just so delighful! She is so happy :) That was a really great episode. Just loved the vibe. Safe travels and just enjoy your time :) f
Welcome back to the water! :D
Big upvote for my favorite scene from Boondock Saints
Nice job Mom and Dad.
NOW that is a good video!
Thank you Stephen!
Thank you both for showing that beautiful baby to us! 😘🤗I love how she reacts!😂My husband and I would love to become her grandparents, nanny….etc🤣 you both are awesome parents😎
What a wonderful, peacefull and hopefull video this is. Especially in these very trying times if lies, deception and Government Trickery. I am almost finish with my Sailboat to leave Spain, sailing towards Alaska. I love how you 3 present all topics and how lovely you are with yourselves. God Bless you all. Rover
Nice episode. Renata Lynn seems to be quite at home. Good luck to you three.
Sometimes, no plans are the best plans.
You got that right!
Slow sailing is better than no sailing at all. Love seeing Renata. She is beautiful baby. Need a BOB sticker for the stern. LOL Happy Sails to all. See you next week! ASH
Thank you Alan!
Finally... We have been watching from the start and this is the FIRST time we saw you two GET IT. Cruising is always about the journey, not the destination.
And yes... You should get a boat that "fits" you. We worked and searched and finally (after 6 years) found the boat that fits us... under contract now... survey to be scheduled... wish us luck!
But YES... finally you two are cruising... which has more to do with "living in the moment" than "moving towards... whatever".
Kudos!! and Renata is ti die for! (I have 5 kids, 3 in their 30s'... and my baby girl turned 18, graduated June 2020 and is living on her own now...) (sigh)
Oh and TREASURE these days... they go by so much faster than you will believe...
Congrats and good luck hope it all goes well!
@@SailingSoulianis Thanx!! We have a potential survey date of the 9th!! S*it is gettin' real!
Thankyou so much for this delightful opportunity to escape the harshness of the world and share in these most wonderful moments on the water…I have two children and I know it’s not an unending rosy experience but I’m glad you edited out any and all which was less than perfect to create this glorious episode of happiness, peace, and tranquility. ❤️
There were some trying times, but to be honest, this was one of the most amazing periods of our lives. We felt so at home, and so at peace with everything that was happening.
What a beautiful baby,
Great episode. All hail the mighty algorithm. Stay safe out there.
Contentment is a wonderful thing
Great video as always, and that anchorage looked amazing (only price was the insects taking chunks off you.
Everyone says babies grow up so fast and you don't realise the truth of that until it's in your rear view. I remember my son as being nearly as cute as Renata and all the amazing firsts with him (I looked after him during the day) and he's twenty this year...😳
Take care and have a great adventure ⛵🌎
At the end of it all, It's a Wonderful Life.
No covid worries out there in February 2021, good thinking - so enjoy your videos even if we are a year behind
Glad to hear you're enjoying them Jack!
😂😅Wahahaha!!!😂😅
When you do narration dialog now...how come you now speak in hushed, quiet tones??😂😅
I DONT WANT TO HER TO WAKE UP!!👍
This is awesome....I've sailed 150,000miles in my boat...a 62' ketch....doing charters around the world.
And then stopped...to raise my 2 girls, who are now in their 20's!!!
It's all awesome....💕
If you start running out of firsts then you know it's time to change things up.
👍refreshing 😋 video.
💘 it
Cute baby :)
Firsts are just, somehow, better. Awesome that you have them documented. The future three of you are going to be eternally grateful to the present three of you. Maybe, privately, you send messages to your 10 year old daughter, your 15 year old, your about to be married daughter.
We do exactly that. I created an email address for her the week she was born and have been sending her messages from the past every now and then.
😂 well.. you have really done it this time…Renata will forever now have a celery phobia… that in itself would not matter because celery is worthless… But she will always wonder why she cannot enjoy a good Bloody Mary … 😂
Great show. Will you continue to sail or are you flatlanders for a while? Looking forward to new episodes! Thanks
What a beautiful we babe. Sure hopes she takes to sailing.
Us too!
Always look forward to watching a new episode! You guys are great! Thanks for producing awesome content. Do you film in 4K or upscale 1080p?
We started filming in 4K about two years ago and only semi recently switched to uploading in 4k
First locke failure😂.
Cool.
Well that's one way to get new crew ...
Reminds me of having my 2 boys , 30 years ago , wnen I was 40 and +
Take a look at RAN Sailing to see how they adapted with a new born and onwards. Some great creative adjustments to their boat to allow their daughter to be near them all the time.
They also have a couple crewing with them that helps watch their daughter.
@@william6526 Just for the Atlantic crossing I believe.
Loved Kirk’s sentiments and reflection interspersed with scenes of the baby, the boat, and the three of you 💙❤️❤️ Great editing!
Thanks Karyn!! ❤️👋
Brady would have warned you about the north wind blowing out the water. Pretty helpful guy. Try port side out cow pens
They did :). We thought we could make it.
Never had a teething ring. Always a salty rope near by.
Just wanted to let you two know that the RUclips channel “chasing latitudes” made a recent video bashing you specifically
Wow, that drone shot at 4:00! This is a fun episode, great job catching all the expressions on your daughter's face. (I'm sure you used to film the boat a lot, now it's all baby, all the time right?)
Thanks Brian!
Thank you for sharing this peaceful spot. Curious where you were anchored before you got the sail and went through the lock? Looks pretty sweet!
It’s a freshwater lake connected to the canals that lead to the boatyard we were hauled out at.
she looks just like mom .
