- Guide on how to remove the front door window regulator & motor from a BMW Mini R50 / R52 / R53.

-------------------------------
The R50 & R53 (hatchback) models run from 2001 to 2006, and the R52 (Convertible) runs from 2004 to 2008.
Common failures of this part can be the regulator cables wearing and snapping due to corrosion, or the electrical motor failing.
The special tool for the window glass removal is available as an aftermarket part (e.g Laser 5842), or as shown in the video you can use a flat screwdriver and a hammer (used gently!).
NOTE: From 2005 onwards the design of the door card panel changed slightly. All the mounting screws are in the same location, but the rear lower screw is hidden by the armrest trim. The arm rest trim can be moved out of the way by sliding it forward. To slide it forward you can insert a flat trim tool in to the front of the arm rest and push down on the locating tab, allowing it to slide forward.

Sir. this is by far the BEST in ALL the videos ive seen on how to fix whats wrong with my window. Thanks alot for the percise or however u spell that word step by step tutorial.
best tourtorial ever, altho. once i pulled the widow out after following ur MORE THEN PERFECT guidlines. alot of debree fell out out the tracks when i pressed up and down SEVERAL times. and from that my window issue was fixed. thanx again man
Very clear and helpful. Especially the white clips holding the cabling inside the top of the door. So many other vids glossing over this with only a 'watch out they are easy to break'. Have the confidence to do this now. My window sounds like a wailing banshee when I open it.
Thanks a Mini million. I will be servicing my 2002 R50 this weekend.
Perfect! Your very good teacher mate! Youre better than Haynes car manual as you showed step by step process in dealing with this topic!
Many thanks. Your video saved me a fortune.
Cheers guys that was brilliant. Even with trade experience its worth the time to sit and watch a run through 👍

Thank you
Gracias me resolvió el problema 😊
Nice video. Is there a reinstall video ?
Excellent
Is there any way to fix the cable if it’s come loose without replacing the whole window regulator
"do it by feel - if your know what you're looking for" LOL - but HEY THANK YOU!! old git, UK
thanks
Very nice and clear, concise video
The drivers side window has just stopped working, if I push the button I can hear a click (relay sound)? But not action, so I am thinking to replace the regulator and motor
Yes, that definitely sounds like the regulator or motor at fault.
Is there anyway to operate the regulator manually to bring the window down? I'm struggling to remove the plastic cog wheels as I can't pop them up with the window all the way in the up position
@@StratoJohn If you remove the motor from the regulator assembly first, then you may be able to push the window down by hand.
I managed to get it out with persistence. I undone all the bolts for the regulator and managed to wiggle things around until I could remove the plastic cogs and then the window , but was extremely careful with the glass. Thanks again for the great video 👍🏻
@@StratoJohn Mine started just click today, did you get it all fitted and fixed?
what if i cant move the window? because thats why i need to change it... its stuck up
You skipped the crucial part on how to remove the arm rest! On another video with green door card people who are wondering... otherwise great video thank you
👍
