The shinobi villages are quite literly military arm of a autocratic feudal state. The fact that Sasuke ends up compitulating to Natuto's beliefs is quite sad as Sasuke and Madara were completley right and his cooperation only enables the continuation of a failed system. In the end Sasuke did more Jail time than Orochimaru, a man who commited multiple acts of treason and murderd 2 sitting Kage in the Sand and Leaf village which are politically attached to the hip by the end of the series... Do you ever consider that Itachi was the perfect Shinobi, and that effectively ruined his life wholesale? Because I do. It hurts a little more every time.
He studied history, the shinobi had THREE world wars in under a century, and he was 12 and in one of the worst spots possible. Wisdom is nothing without experience, so it's no wonder he threw himself and his wants out the window for this nebulous 'greater good' and then waited to die afterwards. It's Greek levels of tragic.
Not to mention that third world War left him traumatized for life and it only went downhill from there.
He's not praised for the choice he made, he was praised for making *a* choice in a lose-lose scenario when literally no adult around him could do it.

In a way, you can compare the Hidden Leaf and many of its members to Romans. We abhore and admire Romans in equal measure, like Julius Caesar who both conquered and exterminated entire peoples as well as institute great social and political reforms, or Hadrian who built the Pantheon and loved the arts while at the same time was capable of ordering a top architect to commit suicide for criticizing him. What's actually sad is that when nationalists make genuine positive change for the people and the world, people still criticize them for it.
PS: I won't be coming back to this video because of how heavy I feel after it, but I'll also be making a fanfiction where I will try to make Naruto even better and maybe a lesser need for feeling critical about my favorite anime

In a world where everyone is using trying to overtake each other villages in strength nationalism is very necessary last time i check no one force these kids to be ninjas its completely a choice.
The village is their home, the village is the place where everything they hold dear to live, it should come protected at all cost. Imagine losing your village cause your leader wasn't willing to go lower then the enemy to protect you and your family. The wars wasent adult wars theybwere total wars where very one that could fight fight.
Naruto and every none Uchiha innthe village would see itachi as hero because he prevented a coup that would probably kill way more women and children in the village and open the villages to attacks from other nations.

I love Naruto I’ve watched since I was a kid but I never have thought about it like this. You’ve really opened my eyes. I always thought it was messed up that it took Naruto beating pain for him to be treated well but now I see why and that’s just not right. I hate danzo and hated how his death was romanticized when I always have said he’s the biggest villain in the whole series. I’ve always loved the uchia sauske has always been my favorite character and now I know why. He was smart enough to see through all the trash. I always thought he was justified but never could explain it besides the empathy for losing his family but now I see it’s so much deeper. He was a free thinker and not a follower. Itachi was one of my favorite characters but now I see he wasn’t a hero. I drank the kool aid and thought he was a hero but you’re right. He’s not a hero he’s a victim and was brainwashed. I always said he should’ve convinced his family to run away but now I see why he didn’t do it. The series made it seem like he didn’t have a choice but you made it clear he truly thought he did the right thing killing his family. Thank you for this video next time I revisit this series I feel I can truly appreciate the complexity of how dark it is and the deep brainwashing of every nation

Before this video analysis I didn't know how to say it. One-piece is no doubt the better anime. But Naruto has always been a far superior story. A deeper message. A bingo book for our real world problems. Nationalism has been weaponized for a propaganda these days. There is no honour. Just Survival. And we as a global people are not there yet. We're treated as sheep.
    Damn I love this anime!

Kawaki and boruto are a perfect example with kawaki born from a product of the shinobi system enhanced by Ishiiki abuse on training him made him a monster to willingly burn down the old system while boruto is a pure shinobi who wanted to protect his village and friends from outside forces such as the shinju and the ohstusuki clan and shibai the god of the naruto universe.

Mixed thoughts on this. On the one hand I think the way nationalism or more accurately the way some of these character's values are shown in the video aren't entirely fair, since the decisions made by characters like Itachi or Naruto come off way different when interpreted as being for the people/villagers rather than being for the state which I would say is a more accurate for some of these characters.
I would agree that it's disheartening that the ideas of nationalism presented within the story are never challenged though, in fairness it wasn't Naruto's main theme but it still would've been nice.

Well... the Leaf village is not a nation... The Land Of Fire is their nation, with their fire symbol 🔥(hinata had it in part 1).
The leaf village is the Fire nation, and there's the Lightning nation, the Mist nation, the Rain Nation, Iron nation, Frost nation ect.
The Land Of Fire is ruled by their overlord or whatever and the leaf village is the *base* of Ninja Warriors with ninja schools, examinations and ninja mercenary work.
All the magic and jutsu is tied to the tribes/clans, a group all connected by blood.
The powers and techniques all stay within that clan.. Like the blood-line-limits (Sasuke Uchiha) or techniques (Shikamaru Nara) from teacher to student.
All the power/Jutsu is controlled and passed through the *clans*
Yeah naruto learned the rasangun, but you'd never find someone like Neji teaching some random guy the gentle fist or Shikamaru teaching some guy the Shadow possession, Or Shino injecting bugs into people.
That's just how you get jutsu in the world of naruto. JJK is even *more* strict with the powers, it's very unfair, the most you can hope for is *slightly* more cursed energy from being really, really, really distantly related to a random Jujutsu clan... You can try get with gojo so there's a chance of your offspring being born with the infinite void or something, (Some children with, some without. or a weak version of infinite void) like with blue and brown eyes.

I think this is an unfair way to characterize tobirama. Tobirama didn't make anything up there is literal scientific data, and we as outside readers know that uchihas are cursed by black zetsu and their ancestor's beliefs. Tobirama literally only speaks about the Uchiha that way because kishimoto made a race of people who literally have a curse that makes them go crazy and gain nuclear levels of power when they feel a strong emotion.

I think Sasuke did something far worse than not trying, he gave up.
He, unlike Naruto, thought critically about all the information he had received and dedicated himself to actually trying to change the system; first by becoming Hokage and then by uprooting it all.
But one defeat at Naruto's hands and he abandoned it all. No conviction.
