The ps2 and og xbox. Seems like the last generation with unique imaginative games. Now they are few and far between.
Fight for NY & Marc Echos Getting Up were some of the greatest games of that time. I still play them to this day. I also did own pimp my ride but that was a bit of a let down.
I was just thinking of ordering a ps2 copy of Getting Up, definitely one of my all-time favorites
Game was so awesome… I got the special edition it came with a black book and a silver marker
EA Sports BIG made some special Games of my childhood. Def Jam, NBA Jam, FIFA Street

EA was the absolute best during that time period. Def Jam, NBA Jam, NFL Street, and NFS Ungerground 1&2. Oh how the mighty have fallen😢

Playboy Mansion was very underrated! I enjoyed the photo shoots, celebrities showing up to your party! I still play this game from time to time!😊

In fairness to the American Idol game, given it was the Ps2 Era, it was better off with button input than some form of vocal input- Mic Input wasn't exactly the best back in that day, chances were everybody would be throwing the game in the trash whenever it failed to recognize their audio within an hour of playing this game...
Here's the Thing: If you really look at Def Jam: Vendetta and FFNY, it really WAS a weird idea, especially looking at it during the Era when it came out. Rappers, Actors and Celebrities in a fighting game against each other (in the 2000s) was a crazy concept.
The fact that it's legacy was able to transcend different periods of gaming and do something extremely way ahead of its time just adds to its timelessness. It's fanbase and unsilencing outcry for a follow-up, sequel, remake or just for it to be for sale again proves that.
What the hell was "weird" about DefJam Fight For NY?!
That was LITERALLY one the best games ever on the PS2!
For those who don't know, Def Jam was created by an accident. It was originally supposed to be a WCW game with WCW wrestlers but WCW went out of business in 2001.

DJ Fight For NY was the epitome of fighting games mixed with the hip hop culture. Still wish they would create a WWE like storyline as the next sequel.
Loved Fight For NY I remember renting that at Blockbuster! Too bad that game is rare and expensive now 😢

Some pretty good licensed games are Toy story 3 , ratatouille and the bee movie game. Shrek the third was also good. Peter Jackson's King Kong is a great game but becomes difficult later in the game. Barnyard was pretty good.

Def Jam: Fight for NY is awesome. I wish we could get a proper sequel and by proper sequel I don't mean whatever Def Jam Icon was.

I'd pay money for a Def Jam Fight for NY remaster or a proper sequel and again by proper sequel I don't mean whatever the crap Def Jam Icon was.
The game still sells for $150-$250 all the time so a remake would be great for killions of players but the og game value will plummet too. This would be some amazing news though as it would literally be a cash cow for them knowing MILLIONS will buy it no questions asked if its a proper remaster.
@Vincents Gaming About 2 or 3 years ago I found fight for ny for $5.99 at a thrift store in Chicago. Pretty sweet find.

@@vincentsgaming Chicago is pretty good for collecting. The thrift store was a neighborhood one. I also found persona 3 for psp at the same location for $12.95.
growing up watching american idol pretty much religiously at the time the game had come out, my family were obsessed with that game for a short amount of time.

True. Just recently started playing it because i didn't get a chance when it first released. The gameplay is fun especially the different tagging mechanics and the voice acting is great.
Getting up was one of the coolest games I played as a youngster especially being a writer myself. Maybe Shep would take on the sequel lol
Playboy the mansion was absolutely outstanding. And no not just for the jugs lol. It's a really fun management game.

I remember seeing Playboy Mansion the Game in the video store as a kid. Had to be explained by a more mature classmate why it was not for kids. Lord was I naive. Up until today it felt like a fever dream. 😂

Actually the Def Jam games were pretty good and they are not bad at all in my opinion. And this dev actually made some WWE games in the past and then they went on to try out something new, street wrestling with rappers and it's really dope

I loved the American idol game lol played it all the time BUT it did have a karaoke mode, but you couldn’t play that within the competition mode. It was a just for fun mode 😅

The only redeeming factor about Pimp My Ride was Xzibit. Otherwise, the game had nothing to do with the show it was based on.

As someone that's really into Pinball, Akira Psycho Ball is really fun. If you enjoy Pinball, I suggest checking it out.
Funny enough, American Idol realizes this blunder and eventually releases another game, but mixed with Karaoke Revolution. I remember seeing that game sitting on GameStop shelves for years before PS2 games would be phased out.

GETTING UP, i used to do graffiti art alot in my younger years in really sketchy places, and when this game came out it was like it was made for me, plus it was sick, and the music was NOICE

Speaking of Pimp my ride:
- The contestents backstories are fake
-The are connected to the production staff
-The contestants were given alternative places to live for the filming of the show.
-The cars are damaged and paint worn out to exagerrate the issue for the camera
-Contestents had to rent cars for months as they awaited their pimped out ride
-They fatshamed a contested by rigging their car with candy and food wraps just to install their idea of a candyfloss maker to the car.
-None of the cars were repaired during the pimp out.
-Alot of the cars were non-functional and needed wheeled out of the shop after the episode.
-Alot of the whacky features of the cars were inpractical, didn't work and were illegal for usage on the road.
-Alot of features added to the cars were removed for these reasons.
-The reactions by Clients were completely rigged or faked
-Alot of the cars that got pimped ended up being sold instead for a decent amount of money.
Whether this covered the expenses for renting out a car and having to potentially buy another car at the end is a mystery.
PlayStation needs to bring the ps2 library back to life. So many classic Jems that are going to be lost to time.
No matter what, The Sopranos on PS2 was absolutely amazing. After I played I’d put the dvd in and watch the show. Pine Barrens IYKYK.

I have def jam fight for ny for ps2 and GameCube. I bought the sopranos for ps2 along time ago for under $10.00. I played pimp my ride on Xbox360 back in the day. I only have wwe crush hour for the rarity and obscurity. The ps2 has so many great games and I still have my ps2 and all of my games. At the end of ps2 life alot of shovelware was made. Save for persona 4 naruto shippuden ultimate ninja 4. I do collect obscure games that the mainstream knows very little about.
What about The Smurfs Dance Party?
