Agreed, remember playing the demo on one of hte Jam Pack discs and I had to purchase the actual game. I loved it so much. I replayed recently and as bad as teh graphics were the game still cracks me up.
Dog's Life...yes! That was an amazing game. I remember seeing it GameStop and was curious. I wasn't blown away by the graphics but the gameplay and humor grabbed my heart. Even today, Id say its a fun game to fart around in (Dog farts and dooky...I mean how can you not laugh at such childish stuff?)
The Bard's tale was pretty good. It had Tony Jay as the narrator, Cary Elwes as the Bard, singing goblins, and an ending where you tell the two groups to figure it out themselves and go to the pub instead
You forgot about Demolition Girl. It's like Mr. Mosquito, but you control some flying helicopters or robots that must analyze and track down a woman who suddenly became a giantess.
Months, MONTHS I'd been dwelling on the name of the weird game where you have some demonic hand coming out of your back that I'd seen the Game Grumps play. Thank you for this, it'd been driving me mental.
I have Under The Skin, Katamari Damacy, and Mr Moskeeto. I really enjoy all three games. I also have Dog's Life but not played it yet. Some of the other games on your list look great too.
The saddest part is that currently, the PS4 and especially the PS5 lack the diversity of games that the PS2 had. These days, its all about mostly REMAKES, ports and rehashes. Because developers want to play it safe due to how expensive development of games has become. AA gaming is dead outside of what a few indies produce.
pretty much, high production costs means they need to make huge profits. A silly ps2 game could make 4 million and be profitable, which is why so many creative games got made.
Man I really wish games would return to being not as expensive to make. Imagine what kind of weird experimental games we could get with the technology and budget of a big company, today!
I have Mister Mosquito and that's such a weird and over-looked game. I of course know of Katamari Damacy, but I've never played it. I've also heard of Chulip thanks to Zion of Nintendo Life and I heard of Stretch Panic thanks to X-Play back in the day, but I had forgotten most of the details about it until hearing about it again now.
I've played ps2 for a good while in the mid 2010s. Because I kept seeing "Katamari Damacy" around the internet and such, I thought it was a game I had to have for a "definitive ps2 collection". But in reality, it didn't even reach a million copies sold and didn't make the "bestselling list", lol.
I for one actually enjoyed Mister Mosquito, especially the level where you have to suck blood from a girl while she's in the bathtub. Even Mister Mosquito enjoyed the level with hearts in his eyes.
OH MY GOD. Dr.Muto existed as just a faint memory in my brain that i couldn’t actually remember the name of. A childhood friend of mine had it and i played ONCE forever ago. Maybe i ought to look up a playthrough of it now that i know the name.
I feel Okage Shadow King could have fit in on this list. It's one of the earlier RPG's on the console and you play as a boy who's shadow is possessed by a demon king to go around and regain his power.
Not so much weird as it was unconventional, but Mad Maestro! was a rhythm game that used, of all things, classical music. Why this rather simple pairing hasn't been done since then, is anybody's guess.
Whiplash- Pure nostalgic giddy gold The Adventures of Darwin- No clue, but it reminds me of Pikmin Dr. Muto- Funny and bombastic good time Under the Skin- Sugar-coated acid trip of hilarity Katamari Damacy- If marijuana was a game Chulip- No clue Stretch Panic- It...was a thing Dog's Life- Vague recollection Mister Mosquito- This was...something Gregory Horror Show- No idea, kinda looks like Grim Fandango
10:51 I’ve seen the anime in it’s entirety on RUclips! It’s *not* for kids! Don’t let the blocky character designs fool you, the anime is much more complex that you would think it is!
Under the Skin is the only game on this list I even saw in person let alone played, I loved it especially the 2player modes. Whiplash is a game I to this day wish I had played, I saw it in a PlayStation magazine before it came out but that magazine was the only time I ever saw it, this video is the first time I’ve ever seen the game in motion.
Definitely and Totally one of THE Weirdest PS2 games from my Childhood Years are Whiplash, The Adventures of Darwin, Dr. Muto, Under the Skin, Katamari Damacy, Chulip, Stretch Panic and Mister Mosquito. Those PS2 games from my Childhood Years are definitely and totally one of THE Most Weirdest games I've ever played.
I have a fond memory about Dog’s Life of going into the butchers shop and taking a 💩 on his meat and then running away with absolutely no shame. I loved Whiplash, one of those games I played to death

Whats not included in the Katamari description here is that not only did the King destroy the universe he did it while drunk after partying a little too hard....Unless I am thinking of the second one.
I remember Dogs Life being covered in some gaming TV show i used to watch as a kid, so naturally I wanted to pick it up. Fast forward to today, its one of my greatest childhood gaming memories. I still remember the cheerful theme tune that would play at the farmhouse starting area. That and making Jake poop and then have him pick up the turd and drop it on people. Lol
That's a pretty bizarre list & I've not heard of half of them but I'm sure Dr Muto & the Gregory one came out on Nintendo's rival console (either Game Cube, N64 or Wii - not sure which was around at the time) as well
I thought The Adventures of Cookie & Cream would be a good fit for this list. It was my very first ps2 game when my parents got the early version of the console for a Christmas present, I also got a few ps1 games. The title is an interesting and challenging split screen puzzle platformer. Sadly my copy got mixed up with stuff to donate and I haven’t found another yet. Would love to get the complete physical copy again.
i have Beautiful Katamari for Xbox 360. it's such a fun game but after years of playing, i still don't get how scoring works.. i roll giant 500m balls but the King still punishes me for not rolling up the right stuff. still worth the 20$ i spent for it.
AH! Only English releases I see. Good list then. If you included Japanese games though, you'd need Super Galdelic Hour which is like a lewd version of the Teletubbies and no I'm not kidding. My mind is STILL reeling. Under The Skin is my favorite on this list and I would love a modern version with online multiplayer because the VS mode is where it's at!
Remember playing ps2 games like ratchet and clank and sly cooper including Lego Star Wars games series Spyro enter dragon fly well katamari damacy really fun games but get really hard later on in the game too
Woww I totalllllly forgot about whiplash that was such a blast to the past Damn. I remember when these games came out katamari was another one I loved and mister mosquito lol
Ya'll do a Wii one of these cause it too had it's collection of wtf games. Deadly Creatures is one that comes to mind. The E rated game that the final boss fight has you attacking a dudes penis.
PS2 was a gold-mine of weird experimental games. Great list, I've never heard of some of those games.
funny enough 98% of these are Japanese
Yeah you still had fun crazy games for PS2. For Xbox 360 I can think of a few as well like tge Beard games and Gunstringer
Yea it costs too much now for development so either you get them from indies or not at all now.
Whiplash was my Favorite game, I was never able to finish it cause U was to young and didnt understood some Things. But it was cool
@@SacharroseAll facts. I need to get my hands on that game again. I don't even remember what happened to my copy

Geez, that chasing rats level though
Glad that Gregorry horror show is getting the love it deserves!
it's already $150 used because of all these kinds of clickbait videos
I wonder if we can push for a nation-wide re-release.
They released a DVD of "Gregory Horror Show" that appears to be all of the cutscenes from the game strung together as a movie.
The Bard's tale was pretty good. It had Tony Jay as the narrator, Cary Elwes as the Bard, singing goblins, and an ending where you tell the two groups to figure it out themselves and go to the pub instead

I played so much Whiplash. Love that you used the music for this video. It brings back a lot of memories.
I own Stretch Panic, although here it is called "Freak Out". I expected to see another weird PS2 game I own on this list: Gitaroo Man.
