      @@fullsendtictic my local gunsmiths has like 5 of them as well as an original 1940s AK47 but they are deactivated. Which is stupid since a while ago there was a man selling a fully working Enfield rifle near where I live.

      Sounds like the labour party must go, just like the Democrats must go here, they have seen their last days i hope they cant screw this country up much more without getting thrown out on their ear very soon. How do they deactivate them. I just got 5 No1Mk3 DP rifles for $85 w/grenade launchers that i intend to rebarrel to shoot again. The chambers are pinned but i can get them out😊

      It's really one of the more sedate rounds from the world wars. The 8mm, 30-06 & 7.62X54R pack a lot more punch.

    Fun fact: the Lee-Enfield was unique to other bolt action rifles of WWll because of its enormous 10 round carrying capacity

      I’d hardly call it unique. The Swiss Shmidt Rubin of 1889 held 12 rounds and had a straight pull action.
      It wasn’t a Mauser pattern rifle, but that doesn’t make it particularly special.

      Looks like No4 mk1* made by savage stevens, lend lease for the brits.
      Star denotes war time manufacturing efficiencies, more stamped parts, different bolt head release, 2 groove bore.
      I have one myself up here in Canada, non star savage stevens though, early production.

      The Lee Enfield is chambered in .303 british which gets an average muzzle velocity of 2,440 fps (774 mps). An M1 Garand as a comparison shoots a .30 06 Springfield which achieves an average of around 2,805 fps (855 mps). An Ak 74 chambered in 5.45x39 will achieve around 2,900 fps (880 mps).

    My Grandpa always spoke of his Savage Rifle that he was issued after joining the Royal Canadian Engineers. He served in WWII.

      Nothing rare about them. I had a 1941 production Savage made mkI* (no disassembly latch, his is a mkI). Literally hundreds of thousands were made by Savage between the 2 types. During "war time rush to production" for both world wars, lots of european rifles were cranked out by american arms companies.

    I've had several of these. Have one right now made in 1916. Used in ww2 as well by a Australian soldier. Still shoots true and accurate everytime

      I use PPU 150grain for about $2.05 AUD.
      It's a special occasion gun, not because I only get it out on special occasions, but getting it out is the special occasion.

      Hey it's not much Cheaper, I'm assuming these Days? But the Idea of Reloading is what You should look at. Besides Self developed loads are quite a bit more Accurate once You get One worked Out. And as a Friend Said just Yesterday. IT's Great personal Therapy Time for an Avid or Active Shooter. IT'S just a thought but with a Rifle such as the Lee Enfield shown? Your Brass can be literally used Continuously Until forever. Anyhow Good Luck & look at the Long term result's. Thanks 👍😊.

      @robertwaid3579 I'll reload other rounds but I don't use enough 303 to justify the cost of setting up or developing so I might as well buy factory for the few shots I do take. Also brass definitely can't be used forever, only so many shots before the cases give up the ghost and split.

    You can keep your Mausers, your Mosins, your Arisakas. The no. 4 Lee-Enfield was the finest bolt-action battle rifle ever made. I will take no questions.

      I had 2 arisakas and really wasn't a fan because ammo is sparce and expensive. Mine is a mk4 no.1 made in 1944 and I absolutely love it, it's my truck gun. Mines also the jungle carbine so it's alot smaller than the standard models.

    Mainly in WW2, the rifles have 5 bolts. But for the M1 Garand, it has 8. And for this beauty of a rifle, has 10! This WW2 Rifle is my one of my favorites.

    i love guns but this is satisfying regardless
