Florence Az. I know the family that live in the Martinez cabin. The VillaVerde family lived there in the 1952. Mr. Villaverde worked the old mill, while his wife Connie, son Peter and 2 daughters Vikky and silvia lived in the red cabin. In 1956 this was a flood that can through the canyon and almost washed the family away. Connie and the kids moved to florence where they lived out their lifes. Connie and the son Peter recently pasted and are buried in the cemetery out near the cabin. There are 17 graves there. There is a Highways magazine from January 1997 that Connie did an interview telling the storey about living out there.
Used to go to Martinez canyon years ago. Came in from the Phoenix side. If you keep going you will run into an old mill, that still has the machinery inside. Also what was once a bar inside a cave.
Watching from London, England. Was just wondering what the desert over there looked like off-road. This video definitely piqued my interest more than just satiating it 😆👍🏾
if the rig ain't got Arizona Pin Stipes, ya ain't been 4X4ing with me. pin stripes and Gouges taken out of the skid plates - have a story for most of the gouges - pin stripes just basic badge of courage and use. Nice video. Old Mesa boy. grew up with friends from Kearny area. Road looked in darn good shape compared to some of my past trips. The road has Signs???! Gates??!!! it's been awhile since I was out that way. Did the Coke Ovens with quads years ago. Took a good bit of skill, and puckered up some leather seat cover. drove across the Gila River once to get out. Snuck through the railroad tunnel a couple of times. Stood on the bridge over the Gila. there was a yellow mark showing level of late 1970's Flood. I'm 6ft+ couldn't stand on toes and reach it. heck of a lot of water. Highly recommend do not use tunnel. walked first time, ran like a ape with his butt on fire twice on the quads. When the railroad tracks are shiny - they've been used. Last I heard, you can't even try and do it - someone got caught up in the cow catcher of one. All that area has some gorgeous country. high level of 4X4 required. always let folks know where you're going, when you expect to be out.
Great video! Didn’t see anything my 2x4 Xterra couldn’t handle. Maybe I’m missing something but I did a drive that looked worse than this the other day. 🤷♂️

Absolutely loved this video. Don't know how I missed it. We took the Senator Hwy out of Prescott to Crown King , almost. After an 80+ mile tow, a set of new tires and $1000 front end work we were back on the road. I'd love to go again,. in someone else's truck!!!
Watching from Indiana,Miss Arizona very much ,Sold my house in Phoenix 3 years ago ,was a mistake prices have gone up so much since then could not afford to by another now,Just have to be satisfied with watching your video's for now,Great fun to watch!
In the process of buying a home outside of Florence. Looking forward to the move in a month or so. Love this content showing us the area and giving ideas for weekend outings. Thanks so much, hoping for more like this. I'll be taking my Gen1 Raptor up this trip soon, I hope.
Mesa, AZ. LOVE this area. This is my personal favorite place to go 4 wheeling. We've been all over out there and still haven't seen it all. Good video to show off AZ.
Nice video. Hats off to you taking your new truck out there. No way am I taking my truck out there but I am waiting for my new sxs that should handle that terrain like a warm knife through butter.
I grew up in San Antonio, TX, but have lived in AZ for 15 years. I know what you mean. TX is almost completely covered with barbed wire and private ranch land.
I am from Boerne , now live in a very small town in far west AZ. Texas is almost all private property because after the Texas war with Mexico in 1836 the Texas soldiers were paid in land grants so Texas immediately went into private ownership.
@@ericsimpson1176 I'd never thought about that . I guess back then Texas had no money but plenty of land .I knew that's how the XIT Ranch was formed but hadn't considered the rank and file soldiers.
Watching from Yucca, AZ at the other end of the sandbox. Looks like my backyard except, I have the Colorado River up here. Yeah, sure sux to me huh? LOL! Luv tour vids!
We do Box Canyon all the time in our Jeep Wrangler and our RZR's. Awesome trails all around this area. We usually stage at the flag pole of off RT 60. Or come in from Florence.
First time watching your channel. I have been in Coolidge for 11 years and although I know there are a lot of hiking gems out here I don’t get a chance to see much so I am glad you put out these videos. Hopefully soon I will get a chance to go explore.
I lived in Coolidge 2 for a few years in high school and a few jobs there i live in Tucson now I still have family in Coolidge we have been to Box Canyon many times on our ATVs interesting to see there's a gate postings no Vehicles we have ridden to Martinez cabin and the mine many many times you could start out at 8 in the morning for 5 hour ride your back headed home it is a cool ride sad to see you can't ride into Martinez cabin. There used to be 2 diesel generators sitting on the concrete slabs next to the cabin there's an old cable rig dozer pretty cool and you can ride all the way to superior well you used to be able to I don't know anymore with that gate they're very cool ride though
I am in Vancouver Canada and headed down this summer I have family in Tombstone. I intend on moving there. I love 4x4. Did Moab and death valley. I drive a Wrangler Rubicon.
Bro I’m watching in Loveland CO. Headed out that way after a brief stop in Moab with my tricked out Jeep 392. Loved the video and will be checking out that canyon next week! Thanks for the history and awesome camera shots
Worked at one of the copper mines just out side of green valley and saw 4 gila monsters while working there. Had to catch a young one to remove it from my back yard to protect my dog. Placed it in the desert behind my house. He came back in 30 minutes so I did it again. Stayed gone that time. Awesome creatures.

We've spent a week in San Simeon on two separate occasions. Our intent was to continue to Monterey to visit but liked what we saw and stayed there instead. Drove the PCH to Monterey about 6 times. Cambira is a nice, quaint little town. We enjoyed visiting there.
Actually it's a true story. There is an old abandoned stagecoach out that way. That's in the process of falling down now. It's not that far from Martinez's canyon.
I was thinking about that during the early part of the trip. You would DEFINITELY want to be mindful of the precip forecast, not just in your immediate area, but for miles upstream! Gorgeous area...I'm so jealous. Not a good place to break down, though!😬
Love Arizona went through there on Route 66 in 1959 going to Santa Ana California my dad helped to build Disneyland of course it just kept getting bigger I was a trail guide at Irvine Park stables love horses❤️❤️
Way cool! You’re far braver than me, love the truck! And the pin stripes 😂. The music is pretty cool. We enjoyed Apache trial route to the lake, your trial blazing was cool. Thx a million
