  • Are you sick of paying sky high prices for your home internet? look no further! In this video we will take a look at Lightspeed Internet. I will give you my honest take on the service based on my experience with it so far. and show you how it Compares to Shaw
I am subscribed to their 250Mb down 15Mb up speed tier, and for Shaw I previously had 300Mb down and 15Mb up. can I tell a difference between the 2? not really! but my wallet shure notices the difference every month!

Ping is very important to me as a system admin. However 10 milliseconds isn't noticeable in games. So I agree. Good video and for a non tech especially. Going to try it. I just switched from bell to koodo for three lines and went from 350 a month to 120. So now I'm addicted to seeing where I can save.

Thanks for the kind words! Agreed, we have also been looking for other cost cutting measures. Once you start, it's hard to stop lol! Service has been great so far, especially for the price!

I've opted for Lightspeed in Edmonton. Got the rented modem for now. Let's see how it goes.

I've had the service for almost 6 months now and I really can't complain! The latency does creep up for me in games from time to time but overall it's been great with 0 downtime... seeing as you are geographically closer to their servers I think it will work out well for you!

@@RegsChannel That's great Reg, since I don't do gaming the latency wasn't the greatest concern. Everyone in my condominium has a Shaw Service and I thought that since Shaw's network is reliable lets opt for Lightspeed because of the shared network.
I went for the 75 down plan since that was more than required. I will post a comment regarding my experience in Alberta. Great video though. Affordability should be on the top of our list regardless of the inflation 👏.

On the topic of ping/latency, back when I quit BellMTS, I found that the only "reseller" who didn't route through BC or Ontario was Teksavvy. They seem to have a last hop server in Winnipeg, which means no routing towards another province and a delay/latency similar to Shaw and BellMTS. It was the reason I ended up choosing them instead of a cheaper option, as I frequently play videogames with friends in Europe. I think for most people it doesn't matter, as the difference in ping is in the order of 30 to 60 ms, but for very competitive games where it really matters, you might want to consider Teksavvy.

Great perspective! Originally I did take a look at Teksaavy however, when comparing prices they just couldn't compete with Lightspeed in terms of price, but I agree unless you are ultra competitive (gaming for a living) you won't notice a huge difference... As you can tell I game on a projector so between input lag there and the new latency introduced by the service I am still pretty happy with it!

Yeah, it's totally fine for the majority of folks just looking for a better deal. On the topic of bandwidth, is Lightspeed able to consistently provide you with the advertised amount? I tried some other services, but they couldn't always provide the advertised bandwidth. Teksavvy always (any time of the day or night) provides as advertised, and I was wondering if there are any other services that could. My gf is using CanNet 75Mbps (@ $40/month), but it rarely is able to deliver that much bandwidth and will often struggle with 1080p streaming. Perhaps Lightspeed would be a good alternative?

@@joaorsintra I have been watching it pretty diligently and so far I can say yes! Before I made the video both COD and RL took multi gig updates and while not a perfect measure it was very close... The consoles in my house are also hardwired FYI
