    We're 3 months in now. We just got back from a few weeks away and found the modem wasn't connecting. I contacted Oxio through the FB messenger option and within a few minutes they were able to guide me through a proper reset of the modem (apparently just unplugging it, then repowering isn't enough). Everything is back to normal and works fine.
    I like that there's someone available for troubleshooting as late as 10PM. Support is there when you need it!

    We're a week in now. We have noticed a couple minor issues, but not sure if those are related to our hardware or the bandwidth. We're in the midst of booking a trip to Europe and find that with 20 browser tabs open to Airbnb pages... the loading of images seems to slow down. I should have done a speed test at that point... and will make sure to do so the next time I run into that issue. This morning, still 80down and 7.5 up.

    We're now 4 weeks in and all still good. This morning, still looking at 75 down and 6 up. Our streaming box (AppleTV) is hardwired into the solo port on the Eero router, so that might make a bit of a difference from a streaming standpoint. Everything else though is connected by wifi... which includes a desktop, laptop, two iphones, an ipad, 3 google home devices and 5 smart outlets. Maybe we look at bumping up our package to the 100down option for $8 more per month to see if there is any noticeable difference... but I want to keep on with our current package for the next couple months to see if we run into any issues.
    I'm an engineer. I like to test things. We do spend a lot of time on the web doing various tasks, and I am happy with the performance thus far. I guess the ultimate test would be to drop down a tier to 30 down and 5 up. For the $6 savings on that though, I might feel the wrath of my girlfriend.

      How long did it take for you to get the service activated

    • @startbartending
      @startbartending 6 месяцев назад

      @@Kj-gi8et I want to say 3 days. We already had a cable connection with Shaw so it was easier. I used the chat option with Oxio to ask a few questions during the process and they were very helpful and quick to respond. Initially the activation date was scheduled for something like 5-7 days after i connected the equipment... but I sent them a note to see if that could be bumped sooner.
      They contacted shaw to request 'the earliest possible activation date' and it was all done in a few days. The total time from them sending me a note the equipment was sent out to service being active was only 7 days.

      @@Kj-gi8et I thought I replied to this yesterday. Sorry for the delay. It took just over a week from the hardware shipment notification from oxio until we were fully running off oxio. It's a matter of how quick your current provider can switch over the line. Oxio pressed Shaw to move a little quicker (after I asked them to) and everything went nice and smooth.

    Hey. I have Telus wifi that I pay $105 per month and gives me 11.2 download speed and 6.8 upload speed. Do you think that’s good? Because I’m not good with this stuff

  • @StreamSaver32
    @StreamSaver32 6 месяцев назад

    Thinking about switching too them but I’m not sure.

    • @rockingcheers
      @rockingcheers  6 месяцев назад

      I was hesitant too... but worst case scenario I figured would be to sign up with Telus as a new customer and get the perks if Oxio didn't work out. So far, so good though, plus I love the option to increase or decrease our speed and package when we want.

      @rockingcheers  7 месяцев назад

      I'll keep those updates coming. We will be on holidays for the month of May, but will continue to monitor through the rest of March and April 2024. So far so good. I do find the download speed comes in closer to 70 in the mornings (upload at 5)... but the rest of the day it seems to hold steady around 80+ down (8 up).
      Since we are used to the high speed from Shaw, we have noticed 3-4 times now where it might take a few seconds longer to load a page or video on youtube... but that hardly warrants the much greater cost we were paying shaw. Plus, if we want... we can always bump up the speed of our package to the 100 down for $57/mo as an option.
      If you're only 1 or 2 people on your wifi... you should be fine.

    Does this run on cable?

    • @rockingcheers
      @rockingcheers  13 дней назад +1

      We had Shaw, and that had a cable connection... so yes, Oxio uses the existing cable network in your building to connect to their hardware.

      Sorry, I've got no experience with the needs for gaming. Maybe someone else here can comment on that.

      My box is coming tomorrow and I'm getting it for PS5 mainly so I will let you know this weekend if I can get it setup right away without tech guy coming to my place because if he has to come he's not coming until the 20th I can set it up myself no problem just a matter if I have the activated coaxial signal or not yet I'm not sure because I've never used the one I have ever since living here

      Thanks @royermondragon192! Geez, it's almost been 6 months now that we've been running Oxio... and we're loving it. We did bump up the speed to the $57/mo plan... because it was only $8 more per month. We did see a slight reduction in loading of youtube on our old appleTV... but probably would have been just fine to stay with the $49/mo plan.
      Which one did you sign up for?

      We’ve been away for the last few weeks, but everything has been solid for us… and there are two of us. I am tempted to try a tier lower to see if we can run on less speed, but I am sure I would get an upgrade earful from my partner.
