It’s the rubber lines to the caliper .. I’ve had that same thing happen to me quite a few times . The rubber line collapses on its self and won’t let the break fluid back out of caliber. The first time this happened to me my lines weren’t that old . I had a ole boy tell me it was the line . I was like F - - k no way .. yeah way brother .. anyway good luck .
I think he has extended braided steel lines for the extra front end travel but the liner inside some of those hoses can still do the same thing your talking about with rubber lines definitely a good idea to check those out
Brake hoses do collapse but the chances of both doing it at the exact same time is slim. I’d check proportioning valve but I think it’s more likely your master cylinder is hanging up. Get the brakes good and stuck and see if they release when you crack the line to the front at the master cylinder. I had something similar one time after I changed a master cylinder....it ended being the rod coming out of MC on new one was a little longer than the old one. Took me a minute to figure that one out. Good luck Bro.
You’d think huh? Worked one 20+ years ago and both lines were factory and they weren’t equally shitty but amazingly not that difficult. The more I bled them the worse they got. The pieces of broken down rubber would move and clog both ways at times. Had to change both lines to calipers and flush the front brake system and voile
As soon as he loosened the bleeders (but especially once removing the lines) that 100% proved it’s NOT a brake line or master cylinder issue. Ya know, being that they were completely disconnected at that point👌🏼
If you cracked the bleeders and they are still locked up it’s the seals around the pistons. Over time they swell up and start sticking the pistons. I didn’t see you replace them in the video, only clean the pistons and the caliper.
Pull the brake hoses off the car and see if you can blow thru them, they might be collapsed. I’ve had them go bad and work like a one way valve… pressure goes in but won’t release
This is a comment to my own comment, I heard him say a loosened the bleeder and that didn’t help which would mean it’s not the brake hoses or the master cylinder. However the video never shows this so think the first step would be to make sure you opened the bleeder. If it’s still tight with the bleeder loose that leaves the caliper pistons, the retaining/guide pin or the pads themselves. If the backing plate on the pads is bent just a little at the top where the pins go through, from pushing in with a pry bar or getting caught up on a worn spot on the pin and then pressing the brakes, they will bind up instead of sliding freely on the pin. Bent pads or not, a worn spot on the retaining/guide pins will not let the pads release once it gets into the worn spot. Last is the caliper piston getting stuck from corrosion, a nick or bad spot on piston or in piston bore, or just wear letting the piston rock in its bore or come out to far of the bore causing it to get stuck in a certain spot. Think you should check if it’s the inboard pad, outboard pad or both that’s stuck.
I'm just a broke Michigan boy with the race car on jack stands. But I've watched the old man and his boy's channels for years now and when the old man always talked about just getting done talking with JIMMY DALE Now there is a face for the name love your channel so far love the content keep it up it's awesome anywho SMALL BLOCK CHEVY TO THE FRONT. Well that's what I say in the garage to myself with the car on jack stands LMAO
you make the best vids Jimmy shared it to my bigger group Street Outlaw Nation trying to get you some likes and share and even asking them to help with merch good luck
Thanks for the video brother, as a shop owner I have a lot of respect. Wish their were people was guys around here who are as interested in racing like I am . We will just keep on keeping on Keep a thrashing 👍 Oh yes lines or proportion valve another thing it's in the line lock just a thought
I’m not even sure why these days, but I’m still amazed at ALL these damn “brake hoses collapsed” “master cylinder bad” “proportioning valve junk” “line-lock problem “ and “rod too long” (that’s what she said) comments. Jesus Christ 🤦🏻♂️ Did ANYone actually watch the video before commenting 🤔 And, for those of you who did…congrats, you officially have ZERO gotdamn common sense👌🏼 The bleeders being backed out (and not to even mention the hoses being completely removed) literally makes it a 1000% chance of proba-mf-bility that the ONE & ONLY place the issue can be is in the calipers themselves 🤯 I see what you did there Jimmy Dale, you just knew the ummm “do it for Dale” crew would come right on outta the woodworks just to explain to you exactly what your issue is 😉 Comments galore 🙌🏼 Well played sir, well played 🙇🏻
I would be checking the prop valve and the brake lines that come from the coupling on the Frame to the caliper.im sure they are extended braided lines because your front end travel is insane!!! Good luck with it man it's a cool story on how everything came together for you and I hope I can do the same thing one day with my channel and my el camino I have.
vids are great man keep it up . i love the random footage from old lookout vids ! love how you always reppin a lookout hoody too , much respect , 1tft1t
Watched it again, are the threads on that pin catching the brake pad so that it can’t slide back? Never seen a pin with exposed threads were the pad rides. Usually all smooth with a e-clip or cotter pin not a thread bolt and nut. Think it’s called a bridge bolt or pin. Either way check into that, looks very sus. Pause the video and zoom in at 7:04. See the bolt and threads with all the grease. Should not see threads, they don’t let pads slide. Look up and bridge bolts.
Replace the hoses. sometimes when they get old the hoses get bad and only allow pressure to go one way. had to do this on my OBS chevy after i had the same problem.
65 Chevelle would drive the car and the front brakes would progressively get worse as the fluid got hotter. Ended up being the master cylinder wasn't letting the fluid come back after I would pressure caliper
Maybe pushrod on back of master cylinder too tight???? After seeing the fried potatoes, I'm going to cook some up. Damn it Jimmy, I watch for the race cars not to get hungry. Lol
Jimmy I worked on one about 20 years ago and the inside of the bake lines the layers broke down and it would stop the car but it would release them because the brake fluid had ate 😊up the hose on the inside the hose still looks good on the outside and the inside I was collapsing and causing a call I got a clogged up check brake lines going directly from the frame to the caliper
Only other thought, Caliper piston I.D. bores are worn out of round/specs and caliper pistons go sideways and hang up in a similar ways as did the old ford phenolic piston style calipers...
Your a pretty cool cat. Jimmy. Love your channel above your attitude. Like u said fuck brakes use the parachute...oneof my best channels besides ur buddy's SRC.AND OLD MANS GARAGE. GOOD LUCK
Lol gotta have a shop chicken Tom ! 😂 I actually have the same thing happening to my Willwoods up front but still nuthin :/ After talk to everyone and trying everything lol I think it’s actually an issue with the master cylinder, check your rubber lines too , one could be swole shut bro
So, There I was. Running down the track. Yup, I was spraying all four kits. I had put several lengths on the Ole Man. Almost to the finish line. Then, Jimmy Dale though I'm going to light my break lights for the Ole Man. That's when it happened. Brakes started grabbing, Jimmy Dale thought, Oh Shit I'm going to crash Magic and about that time, the Ole Man came by me like a jet. Took the finish line right out of Jimmy Dale's hand. I gotta get the brakes working.
My guess is the proportioning valve. I've had issues with hoses in the past on brakes and fuel as well. Odds are that both sides wouldn't stay locked at the exact same time but it is a cheap and easy fix to change out the hoses. Are the rears staying locked? What's your email? We're looking for a NX tank and bottle heater for our bracket car. We're running a NX plate. Maybe you can help us out. Thank you, good luck, and stay safe!
If you can, change out the calipers and the rubber brake lines or at the very least the rubber brake lines. Might wanna check out the proportioning valve as well. There was no fluid to the front at all so I would say the proportioning valve.
Did y’all put new o-rings in the caliper? They got to be square cut rings. Seen all the comments about the lines but you had the lines off and it was still doing it, so I don’t think that’s it.
Loosen the two knots on the master cylinder and pull it away and see if the brake release if they do the brake rod is bent for the master cylinder is bad
Man I love you... in a manly way of course. But you make me laugh my ass off seriously. If you and I were in the same room together, there wouldn't be a dry eye in the house . Come to Vegas. You and your wife have a place to stay... keep doing what you do and thank you from the bottom of my bow tie heart Sean McEntire from Las Vegas Nevada take care
Stop it with the ASE shit. Why would anything hold pressure with a direct hole in the pressure bore?(bleeder) it’s not pressure related and everything you listed sounds ludicrous. Read the comments and think about what you did.
Rubber line collapsing inside or proportional valve could also be brake light switch has screwed itself in to far holding pedal on had that happen once on daughters car
The only thing I can think of is something is in the fluid and contaminated the insides of the brake caliper You could try flushing them with something and pressurizing them and see if you can blow it out and see if they work properly hell put some PSI to them things Jimmy Dale! That's the only thing that I can think of that could be wrong hell you've already tried everything else!
This is very true ive had it to happy on a older car,you can push fluid by but it want return
Gotta be.
Was thinking that or if it’s a old steel line might have some trash in the line
Do you think it would have righted itself once he pulled the bleeder though? Or even when he pulled the line completely it should have released right?
I think he has extended braided steel lines for the extra front end travel but the liner inside some of those hoses can still do the same thing your talking about with rubber lines definitely a good idea to check those out
I stumbled on to u from the old man's garage, and not disappointed!!!! Great way to start the day my man!!🤙🇺🇸🙏
Seeing YellowBelly clips makes me miss one of my favorite channels.

Have you considered the proportioning valve? It might not be allowing fluid to leave the front. Cheap fairly easy fix if it’s not a rusted mess
Agreed
If you cracked the bleeders and they are still locked up it’s the seals around the pistons. Over time they swell up and start sticking the pistons. I didn’t see you replace them in the video, only clean the pistons and the caliper.
Awesome story brother! Love your content, Thanks for being real 🤘.
You absolutely crack me up jimmy dale. Keep it coming!
Pull the brake hoses off the car and see if you can blow thru them, they might be collapsed. I’ve had them go bad and work like a one way valve… pressure goes in but won’t release

Her look, comment and Uncle Bucko's look @ 0:54 was perfect timing!!!
"RESIDUAL CHECK VALVE" there is one in a stock master cylinder that is hung up, in our race stuff we use an inline anywhere from .5lbs to 1.5lbs
Man Jimmy I love the story about Magic she sounds killer. Don't know why your brakes are locked up
you make the best vids Jimmy shared it to my bigger group Street Outlaw Nation trying to get you some likes and share and even asking them to help with merch good luck
Thanks man
Texas super star!!! Hahaha!!! Love the content !!! Keeps thrashin!!!! N banging dose gears!!!!!
Your Brake Issues = Chinese Spy Balloons , Cant argue the timing here
Jimmy Dale is one hilarious dude…. How can ya not like him🤣👍🏽
Thanks for the video brother, as a shop owner I have a lot of respect.
Wish their were people was guys around here who are as interested in racing like I am .
We will just keep on keeping on
Keep a thrashing 👍
Oh yes lines or proportion valve another thing it's in the line lock just a thought
Uncle Bucko slides right in. Had me laughing
Check the brake rod from the pedal to the master cylinder make sure it's not pressing on the master cylinder had this issue last year
Uncle Jimmy dale, entertaining dude. Fan from Australia... keep the humour coming
I seen Unkle Bucks on ur TV Jimmy Dale. U a good dude bro.
Aerospace is your first problem, strange tbm or Wilwood content is awesome, wish my ass from Florida could make it to the Gut

I agree 👍 I had a prop valve on my fairmont causing the same issue
Just placed a pre order for a shirt, now gitcha some new brake lines 🤙🏻
Master Cylinder or proportioning valve, When it is both sides generally it is not a caliper rebuild issue (but it doesnt hurt).
I see good things for ur channel jimmy dale u and ur better half are damn entertaining, keep up the great content!!
vids are great man keep it up . i love the random footage from old lookout vids ! love how you always reppin a lookout hoody too , much respect , 1tft1t

Great video. You crack me up. Race fast - stay safe
YES it's the rubber lines going to caliper they collapse and won't release replace them and u will be good to go Mr Dale
Replace the hoses. sometimes when they get old the hoses get bad and only allow pressure to go one way. had to do this on my OBS chevy after i had the same problem.
Jim Croce... u got excellent choice in music.
Jimmy great show
65 Chevelle would drive the car and the front brakes would progressively get worse as the fluid got hotter. Ended up being the master cylinder wasn't letting the fluid come back after I would pressure caliper
Good job Tom keep it up keep it coming
check the master cylinder rod in the back to see if its holding
Stock brakes if it's good enough for Marcus Kaiser it's good enough for u 🤣 good luck Sir I enjoy the content
Good vibes you got my subscription. Hope to make it to your event in march.
Could be the lines to the calipers or possible bad master cylinder not returning back
Maybe pushrod on back of master cylinder too tight???? After seeing the fried potatoes, I'm going to cook some up. Damn it Jimmy, I watch for the race cars not to get hungry. Lol
Jimmy I worked on one about 20 years ago and the inside of the bake lines the layers broke down and it would stop the car but it would release them because the brake fluid had ate 😊up the hose on the inside the hose still looks good on the outside and the inside I was collapsing and causing a call I got a clogged up check brake lines going directly from the frame to the caliper
Bad ass video bro💯
This dude is funny as hell 🤣🤣
I'm lovin this channel my dude!
You need to get a hold of Lucore automotive and have them apply their secret anti drag brake service
Lol, she was just jiggling her ass @ 8:32. I guess tell her thank you! lol🤣😂
Lack of Maintenance on those breaks. Videos keep getting better and better, keep it up!
I enjoyed the video. Jimmy, you're a solid dude. Just earned yourself another subscriber. Good luck with your Mustang- she looks fast as hell.
Doc did not like the wop wop at end.🤣😎😎🤣
No wop wopped him right into his feelings
Only other thought, Caliper piston I.D. bores are worn out of round/specs and caliper pistons go sideways and hang up in a similar ways as did the old ford phenolic piston style calipers...
Check master cylinder push rod length, if the push rod is correct, it's either brake hoses or bad master cylinder.
😂 I actually have the same thing happening to my Willwoods up front but still nuthin :/
After talk to everyone and trying everything lol I think it’s actually an issue with the master cylinder, check your rubber lines too , one could be swole shut bro
It's a FOWD JD!
Def the line collapsing inside ran into this several times
BIG BALLS….small tires
Jimmy Dale Racing
I’d buy that t-shirt

Check your rubber lines the liner inside might be letting fluid in but clasping and not letting it back out
Keeping it real.Good stuff

Strange brakes ftw. That's what I got on my WS6 buddy. Brand new and I just got the rust off of them lol. - Mike
Check your proportioning valve. Or the brake lines. It's one or the other.
If you can, change out the calipers and the rubber brake lines or at the very least the rubber brake lines. Might wanna check out the proportioning valve as well. There was no fluid to the front at all so I would say the proportioning valve.
And before I forget also check pad backing plate for bends
Did y’all put new o-rings in the caliper? They got to be square cut rings. Seen all the comments about the lines but you had the lines off and it was still doing it, so I don’t think that’s it.
It's the flex lines that go to the wheels.
My experience is yes alot of heat treated aluminum gets distorted 😂😂
I second the rubber brake lines, change them out
Love you brother tc HoppyBob 🤠
The Magic Show!!! #SmallTireGangstas
Loosen the two knots on the master cylinder and pull it away and see if the brake release if they do the brake rod is bent for the master cylinder is bad
Master Cylinder pushrod not adjusted right, not letting it release all the way would be my guess
Man I love you... in a manly way of course. But you make me laugh my ass off seriously. If you and I were in the same room together, there wouldn't be a dry eye in the house . Come to Vegas. You and your wife have a place to stay... keep doing what you do and thank you from the bottom of my bow tie heart
Sean McEntire from Las Vegas Nevada take care
Make sure the rubber hose going to the caliber isn't collapsed
Shit can those aerospace calipers...problem solved. Its not rubber lines if u crack bleeders and no release
Good video bud
Did the guys that took the caliper pistons out check the brake pad retaining pin for worn spots the pad can catch on?
much love CCHECK YOURR BRAKES
Stop it with the ASE shit. Why would anything hold pressure with a direct hole in the pressure bore?(bleeder) it’s not pressure related and everything you listed sounds ludicrous. Read the comments and think about what you did.
That's right new rubber flex lines needed
And why would the bleeder not release the pressure?
Dammit Boy them brakes are fucked. Cap the fronts…run the rears.. and throw the laundry 😂
Seems like a Collapsed line or something up with the booster.
I wish Loyd still racin, now we just fly rc planes together and race rc boats! Lol
Return line coming out the mastercylinder. Change mastercylinder.
My guess rubber line collapse not letting pressure back. Or smashed metal line under k member or something.
Brakes we don't need no stinkin brakes! Pull the chute on dem fools!
Replace the passenger side line or both just to be sure cause that seems to be your problem I’ve had the same shit happen on my 92 Camaro
Rubber line collapsing inside or proportional valve could also be brake light switch has screwed itself in to far holding pedal on had that happen once on daughters car
Brake lines collapsing internally? allowing fluid to enter the caliper but not return. Blockage in the proportioning valve?
Is this guy Benjamin button? I’m just kidding I love you Jimmy Dale.
Whats the cubic inch in Magic Johnson
