Mimikyu, the pokemon based on jealousy of Pikachu's popularity, ranked higher in popularity amongst fans than Pikachu. Give Mimikyu a loved-pokemon/non-envious form
it kinda feels like people who like pikachu are just annoyed of it or read too many 'hater' comments in the internet so they just chose what was the closest to it xD
I genuinely loved Mimikyu when I first saw it. It's way cuter than Pikachu und deserves so much love. Just my opinion, though. :>

As long as Greninja exists, Chesnaught and Delphox stand no chance. (This also applies to Greninja VS the previous evolutionary stages of the other 2 and even itself to an extent.)

As cute as it is, let's face it. Pikachu is an overrated attention hog that gets constantly shoved down our esophagus. And for all the attention it gets, in battle it's absolute garbage and can get beaten by Swift Swim Luvdisc! Mimikyu deserved that spot.

As for the most popular typing, because over a third of Pokemon in the top thirty overall were Ghost or Dark type, fans of Pokemon are apparently also fans of Halloween. Either that or people just love the designs the Ghost and Dark Types have to offer. Maybe both claims are true.
I'm surprised that Cyndaquil's line was the most popular, but I love him, so I'm definitely cool with it.

Emma Reiman Greninja doesn’t get nearly as much special treatment as Charizard. The special treatment Charizard gets is toxic at this point.
Also Greninja doesn’t have a mega, nor does it appear in Galar.
It does have special form, though only in the anime. Unless you get the Greninja that came from Ash in the Sun & Moon demo release.

Greninja's popularity is definitely what gave it the most votes. But it's sad to see Emboar, Meganium and Chestnaught be voted as the worst fully evolved starters.
Emboar just continued the Fire/Fighting Chain, so that makes sense, Chesnaught was in the same Gen as Greninja, and Meganium isn't even part of the top three most popular gens.

Yes especially that not counting mega evolutions Emboar is actually the best of not only unova starters but also fire fighting starters the worst being actually blaziken thats why they gave him mega evolution. Infernape is fast but hell hes fragile this is why Emboar is the best because he not only can dish out hits but also take em well unlike the other two.
@Dabi Does things have you seen emboars arms? Theyre massive! And did you see the cutest of all final forms that is Meganium which has better distributed stats than venusaur and has less vulnerabilities than venusaur? Its better pokemon than venusaur in any aspect yet gets hated a lot.

The fact that Chandelure is the most popular Unova just shocks me. I’d thought Zoroark would be most popular. Litwick even made it.

I’m happy Delphox has proved all the naysayers wrong - around three RUclipsrs don’t like it and so they decided it was one of the most unpopular Pokémon ever. I’m glad they’ve been proven wrong

Red Foxes some people make such an opinion neigh insufferable. And it’s not just a couple RUclipsrs. Its almost the entire damn Pokémon community that thinks this way. Like you’re not even allowed to like the pokemon whatsoever. Even worse if it’s your favorite (which it isn’t mine). If you DO like it, then you’re either a furry, have zero taste and don’t know what true Pokémon design looks like (basically anything not Charizard or Greninja), or aren’t a “real Pokémon fan”. I think I speak for most if not all of said fans and myself when I say that the Delphox, Incineroar, Emboar, and Meganium fans among others are just absolutely sick and tired of hearing that type of bullcrap day to day tbph

Which is why i still don't understand the hate, but it did break the Fire/Fighting trend after 3 generations in a row with it.

I’m sad that Meganium is one of the worst rated fully evolved starters because soul silver was the first game I picked up and I chose chikorita, so that line has a special place in my heart. Even if it isn’t the strongest I think it’s cute and underrated and will always pick it. (The Cyndaquil line and tododile line are cool too but they don’t have a special place in my heart.) P.S if you make fun of someone else’s starter choice you will never be a real Pokémon fan

Honestly I found their designs kinda boring. Yes, the 1st stage starters were cute, and quilava was nice, but really they just grew. They didn't get any special details as they evolved, and didn't even get a second type. The idea was cool tho. They should have so much more.

i only get why emboar is hated is cuz he was the 3rd in a row fire fighting starter, unova being the second gen i ever started playing kinda makes me hurt as i started black with a tepig and had fun memories of it, then black 2 came in and i chose oshawott, then just recently i chose tepig again, me like emboar cuz of the fond memories so it hurts to see it not showing in any of the op 30

Emboar is a solid pokemon too. If it had been anything but part fighting it would've been so much more well recieved.
Reason i find that ironic is because people drool over Emboars Shiny Coloring...
if i understood correctly, everyone gets 8 votes per day, one for each region. if that is true, i think greninja won because of kalos small roster. while everyone was choosing different pokemon in every big region because of the awesome pokemon variety, people were drawn into greninja because all the rest arent that great in my opinion. yes there are other cool ones, but not enough to separate the votes from greninja. because of this i think there was just a high concentrate of votes on greninja and not that it was actually the most popular. if that makes sense.

I have a large amount of nostalgia for Emboar, because white was my first game, and I chose tepig for my starter, so yes, I like Emboar. So me seeing Emboar being one of the worst makes me sad :(

06:47 I think it's quite clear that this shows the ridiculously huge commercial success of Greninja, back around X&Y Greninja was not only a competitive super star right as the hidden ability Protean became available, the Frog Ninja also got by far *EXPONENTIALLY WAY MORE TIME IN THE SPOTLIGHT AND ON THE SCREEN* out of the three Kalos starters in the X&Y anime and I could swear Ash's Greninja got *even more attention than PIKACHU* , IMHO Gamefreak clearly went out of their way and an extra mile *to make Greninja MEGA POPULAR* by *appealing and pandering* to all the possible ninja anime tropes out there - over half of the time the Ninja Pokemon was fighting it looked like he was using attacks and maneuvers straight from shows like *Naruto* - they clearly even tailored Greninja's moveset so that he could fight like a true anime ninja, his so called *'Aerial Ace'* just devolved into a flurry of kicks and punches, Greninjas *Cut was literally used in the form of a kunai* made of energy - *Double Team is just Shadow Clone Jutsu* - and out of all the possible water type moves Greninja used in the past and could have potentially used they stuck with *Water Shuriken till the very end* and made Ash Greninjas Water Shuriken a giant accessory as a part of his magnificent uniquely designed Spirit Bond form - Gamefreak wanted Greninja to be super popular and *PUSHED IT REALLY HARD*

I personally don’t like how muscular the design looks, but that’s more of a general preference of mine which also applies to Pokémon like Rhyperior. I still think that Emboar has a good looking design though and I don’t know why it’s hated so much. I’ve never had a starter Pokémon that I can say that I “hate” the design of. I think all are nice and lovable :p

Seeing Mimikyu in the top 10 brings a big smile on my face actually, I love that the way to get it in Ultra Sun/Moon was to choose Mimikyu over Pikachu over and over again.

I'm honestly surprised Typhlosion got as much love as it did, Quilava is my favorite of the nine starter Pokemon from Johto... by a considerable margin. It has the most personality of the line, its eyes are more dynamic. Cyndaquil doesn't even open its eyes, Typhlosion is just an angry rat on fire

I personally don't like the fact that people could just vote everyday instead of everyone having just one vote. This lends itself for abuse since there are some people out there who are crazy enough to create multiple account to game the system and inflate the numbers beyond any reasonable metric. Also other variables like bias for or against a generation, or the fact that the anime will also create bias more towards the newer series just for the fact that they aired recently. There are way too many variables that in my opinion make this whole thing look sketch on multiple levels to take completely seriously.
I say this as someone who has two of his favorite Pokemon place first and second place.

I’m late to this video, but something interesting is that out of the 45 starter pokemon that made the top 30 of their region, the only 3 middle stage forms were Quilava, Grovyle, and Braixen. That’s only 7%. Just shows how little impact the middle stage has compared to base form and final form starters.
A little about my favorite Pokemon:
I like Chestnaught, and Chespins ok, and Tepigs adorable surprisingly.
For starters, if I had to pick a favorite line, the Blastoise, Typhlosion, Sceptile, and Fenniken ones are the only ones I like all members of the line, and of those itd be a coin toss between Sceptile and Fennikens line for my #1.
My top 10 include Gengar, Gardevoir, Dunsparce, Cyndaquil, Umbreon, Bellossom, Mawile, Metagross, Glaceon, and Rowlet, and expanding it to 20 adds Flygon, Mantine, Empoleon, Murkrow, Buneary, Fennikin, Shellos, Tsareena, and Furret. My top 3 are Gengar, Gardevoir and Dunsparce in changing order. The new games did not have any effect on my favorites, sadly, though Alcremie, Wooloo and the new Ponyta are high on my mental list, and I would argue I like Mimikyu more than Pikachu, but thats most likely just massive overexposure to the original talking.
For legendaries my favorites are actually Phione, Meloetta, Diance, and Shaymin. If I were forced to include enough for a top 10, Id add Giratina, Jirachi, Magearna, Victini, Xerneaus, and Yveltal, and I had to think quite a bit about the 6 after, as Im not particurally partial to most legendaries, but not against either. Im indifferent.

Shadow_Tries Ik I’m controversial saying this, but disliked Kalos a LOT more than I disliked Sinnoh or even Unova.
Shadow_Tries and that’s the way to see things! I’ve admittedly never seen any of the anime’s except a few of the originals and most of Sun and Moon. But I’ve heard from most people that the Kalos anime is the best out of all.
The gen 2 cyndaquil was my favorite line, it’s one of the hardest decisions i had to make in pokemon, Totadile line or cyndaquil line
